Works great, online reviews were right on!
Well, I will leave this review short and sweet, the Bissell Natural Sweep Carpet and Floor Sweeper works phenomenally well, in fact, far better then I expected. It is able to get dust and dirt out of carpers I didn't know was hiding there. We also have 3 pets, 2 cats, and a dog, and even though you could not see the fur on the floor, this thing ate it up and I dumped out more stuff then I thought could have even been on the floor. Now, I have not owned one of these before, so I do have 2 complaints, and one of them may be inherent to this type of sweeper, and I just have nothing to compare it with, while the other one, is a terrible craftsmanship. However, that said, neither of these issues would stop me from recommending this, nor from buying another one down the road if I wear this one out. Problem 1: After using the sweeper, and you need to empty the trays, do not make the mistake I did and let the head go vertical. Due to the way the holding traps are designed, there is nothing keeping the dirt from falling out of the traps when in any position but horizontal. This is because the traps are really nothing more then spring loaded doors that keep them closed, but there is no seal or anything around them, so once there is dirt in them, there is nothing trapping it in the holding pan, and if you tilt the head before you reach the trash can, all the dirt and dust can come right out. Perhaps I will just chuck this up to a learning experience. Though I do think they could put a seal around the sides, and place a small lip at the front where the dirt goes up into the tray, that would at least keep some of the dirt from coming out. Problem 2: The handle is very thin steel tube, that comes in I believe 4 or 5 sections that you have to screw the sections together, one side is threaded on the outer side, and the other end is threaded on the inner side. You then screw one section into the next. The problem I ran into was that one of the sections, on the side that had the threads on the inner side was just a tiny bit too wide, so when you screwed the two sections together, they would not make a tight fit with one another. In fact, if you tightened them all the way up, you could keep trying to tighten them and they would never stop, all you would have to do it give the two sections a little wiggle and they would come right apart from each other. Now one might say, well you should have returned it. Yeah, I could have done that, but then I would have to wait for another one to get delivered, box this one back up and take it to the shipper to send it back. Instead, I had some JB Weld Instant Epoxy, and I just put some epoxy on the threaded end, and some on the inner threads, and threaded the two pieces back together. Waited about 10 minutes, and you could not get these two sections of the handle apart if you wanted to. Problem solved. So while I do think that this was a manufacturing flaw, I don't consider it anything worth returning it for, but these 2 problems are the reasons for me not giving this a 5 star rating. It definitely deserves a 5 start rating for how well it cleans though. Conclusion: Aside from the 2 minor problems I mentioned, the Bissell Natural Sweep Carpet and Floor Sweeper works really really well and far beyond my exportations. The reviews I read on multiple sites seemed to definitely be correct, they all said that this sweeper earned a 9.5 out of 10, with the next closest coming in at an 8. So that is what drove me to purchase it in the first place. I am sure that my problem number 1 is inherent in all of these type sweepers since they all pretty much look identical. Even with problem number 2, I don't think that this is an inherent problem, and that I just happen to get a bad section of tube, which really is not a big deal My epoxy fix cost me no time or money to do, and the handle is now stronger then it was. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a sweeper like this, and the bonus is, for everyone of the vacuums / sweeps that are purchased from Bissell they make a donation to an animal shelter. Who can say no to that? Hope this review helps someone!

Glue the pole together. Then it's perfect
This sweeper works really well and picks up a ton of stuff (dog hair, crumbs, outdoor debris, etc.). It works at least as well as a vacuum on short pile rugs, but is easier to use, quieter, and can be used for small area rugs and door mats that a vacuum might suck up. I use it on hard floors too. As other reviews have mentioned, though, the pole is garbage. The metal is so thin that the normal motion of sweeping causes the connection points to bend and eventually they won't stayed screwed together anymore. I contacted Bissell and they sent me a new pole, but the same thing happened to the new pole. I now have it superglued together and hopefully that will hold. I recommend immediately supergluing the pole sections together before you use it, because as soon as you use it the metal starts to deform. If Bissell made this with a better pole it would be a great product.

It works as well as advertised.
I was a bit skeptical that a "carpet sweeper" similar to what my grandmother used in the 1950's would actually work; but I really wanted something that was quick and easy and did not have to be plugged in or charged. There wasn't much to the assembly but the pole and handle. There was a slight problem with the threading on the ends but this was managed. It is not a Dyson high-suction vacuum, but it does work. You have to use a combined forward and backward sweep to get hairs and small dust balls or crumbs but that is not an issue compared to the convenience the sweeper provides. Overall, I am quite happy with this item. I gave it 4's because I did not know what to compare it with. I could have just as easily given it 5's on everything but the assembly (because of the threads not connecting well). Once again, grandma was right!

It works just as well as a Roomba but cheaper and easier!
I purchased this because my Roomba quit working and I needed something for a quick daily pickup between vacuuming. I was considering purchasing a cordless vacuum but didn't want to pay $200+. It works really well for a quick daily pick up. It gets dog hair and little pieces. It works best when it can go straight across the debris so it doesn't always get around the edges like a broom would, but for a daily pick up it is perfectly fine. I no longer have to deal with my Roomba being loud and getting stuck all the time every single day. This picks up just as much and is cheaper and will probably last longer. I will definitely have one of these forever! And for those wondering, I have medium pile carpet and vinyl planks and it picks up dog hair very well!

Defective
I just bought it brand new, after 5 weeks under normal use it just like completely froze up???? I don't use it every day. I spoke with Amazon and they deemed it defective and placed a credit on my account to get a new one. It is a bit loud. Come on Black and Decker tweek this more. Fine tune this please! Also the cleaning tool mount is made cheaply can't handle normal use as well. I will give this 1 more shot and I am remaining very positive!

Great sweeper, but handle falls off
This is a great sweeper and does a great job cleaning up small messes. Its biggest issue is the handle. It falls apart with every use. I’ve seen many other reviewers with the same issue and advice to glue it. I will try that, but Bissel should fix this

Does the job
Get one with a brush cleaner built in. You will be cleaning the brushes off way too often. It doesn’t work otherwise. Also barely works on bare floor.

It's ok
The handle won't stay on and it doesn't pick up lots of things that the one I had 20 years ago did, It's ok, they just don't make them like they used to.

Effective but defective
I get real satisfaction from using the Bissell and it’s much handier than having to drag the vacuum out from the cupboard, plug it in and wind/ rewind a long cord. It also works surprisingly well and is easy to empty. They need a better solution for the handle which screws together. The pressure required to keep the Bissell on course means the screw together handle has threaded and will no longer tighten. Big shame.

Great for little bits
Bought this because I have a little dog and when my kids come to visit they always bring him a treat he always leaves little crumbs. It’s so easy to just use this sweeper. Also picks up the bits of grass when we have been in the garden. Plus no electricity used which is a bonus with the prices going up

Great Sweeper
Bought this sweeper as the cat is scared of the hoover. It works perfectly on carpet, and is easy to empty. After initial 'what is it?' from cat, she's quite happy to stay in same room as it being used.
