A few "quirks" but overall is convenient and works well
I've been able to use this sweeper daily for about 2 weeks now, and I'm quite happy with it. I have 2 cats and 1 dog, and a house full of hardwood and tile...so it needs sweeping all the dang time. Usually over my lunch break. We have a central vac that is actually quite cumbersome to use, so I got this to use instead. Here's my take, Pro's and Con's: Pros: - Really easy to put together - Light weight, easy to maneuver/carry around - Sucks (in a good way!) and picks up a lot of dog/cat/human hair, kitty litter, crumbs from dog cookies, etc... - Great for hardwood / Tile / hard surface floors (esp. using the sweeper head shown in the main pic, the other one is okay, but I prefer this one with the brush head) - Super easy to empty - Retractable cord! - Quiet - for a vacuum. Its definitely much quieter than my regular sweeper. Con's - Doesn't 'flatten' enough to get far enough under tables, couches, chairs, etc... The design of where the sweeper head attaches to the tube has a slight bend in it, when means when you lower it to the floor, the sweeper head raises up. So I can't get all the way under the couch or chair. - The canister does a pretty poor job of following you, it tips over instead. I just carry it around, since its so light weight... but if you aren't able to do that, it can get annoying that it flips over, unless you pull the hose to turn the canister. Its like the hose doesn't have enough stretch to it, or something, so it just flops over instead. - No on/off switch on the handle. I thought that wasn't going to matter, until I didn't have it. Now I wish it was there. - The crevice tools fall off the handle all the dang time. Unless I've totally clipped it on wrong (which, I'm not really sure what other way you can clip it one!) it pops off every time I try to remove a tool, or slightly bump it. Ugh. - Power button looks identical to the cord retract button.. so I'm constantly retracting the cord instead of powering it on/off lol Overall, I'm happy with it. This is my first canister vacuum, and it does what I need it to without breaking the bank. A few "quirks" but overall, its convenient and works well.

Would buy again.
This may be a little long, but… The first time I used the hardwood floor attachment the beater didn’t roll and there wasn’t much suction. We tried everything. The manual is wrong, there’s no air flow regulator. We called bissell and they talked us through several things. Nothing worked. They then had us unscrew the bottom to look at the belt and that’s when we noticed there were some plastic fins(not sure what else to call them) that were broken. The woman said “that’s the problem”. They said they would send us a new one and would receive it in 3 days and we did. We had thrown the box away and told her that. She said they didn’t want the original one back. I just got the new vacuum and it works perfect. We have new hardwood floors and 2 dogs and the suction is just right. It picks up just like we thought it would. The maneuverability isn’t the greatest, but that’s not a big issue for me. I carry it by the handle as I vacuum. All in all, it’s what I expected and am happy with it.

Tends to Need Replacement Parts over Time
I purchased this vacuum a little over 3 years ago, and have use it pretty much every week since then. The suction is great -- I'm continually amazed at how much dust and hair this vacuum collects each week. I wanted to share that I've had to order several replacement parts that I wasn't expecting to have to do (although I may just have had higher expectations of the quality of this vacuum's components): I've had to replace the Hard Floor Tool (the attachment that goes at the end of the hose, against the floor, and sucks up the debris) twice (I'm on my third one) -- it seems that the wheels get worn down so that this attachment quits working after a while. I've had to replace the Hose once after a split near the handle (there is a plastic guard that looks like it's supposed to protect this portion of the Hose, but this plastic guard breaks off within weeks of using the Hose). Of course I've replaced the filters, but that was to be expected -- I've done so every year or so since owning this vacuum. So in summary: this vacuum gets all of the dust and hair but may end up costing you a bit more than expected over time as the components wear out.

Excellent vacuum for hard surfaces. Well worth the price for what it offers and how it functions
I’ve had this vacuum cleaner for a short while now. After reading some of the reviews and complaints, I can validate some of the shortcomings, but overall I find this to be a very good vacuum for hardwood floors, tile and linoleum. The vacuum I received must’ve been updated since I cannot find a way to validate the complaints others have written about. People complained about the wand falling apart and pieces falling off during cleaning. My cleaner came with what I am assuming are updates. All of the parts to the cleaner click to lock in place. I found this cleaner to have excellent suction, and I cannot validate a suction issue that others have had because apparently previous models had a form of suction control. This one does not. I can validate the power cord is a bit on the short side, but when I compared it to my shark steam mop, the cord is no shorter. I use this for my first floor in my townhouse and I only have to unplug it once midway through cleaning, so I don’t find this a terrible issue with this cleaner. It seems to be fairly sturdy and the wand is metal not plastic, so it does make it a little bit on the slightly heavier side, but definitely more sturdy than plastic. Some have complained that the cord rewind is too quick and hard, but I find it no different than any other cleaners I’ve had that offer an automatic rewind. I have not had any issues with suction. I clean the dust cup after every use, and the cleaner works perfectly every time. This was definitely well worth the money for what I wanted to use it for. The powerhead is suction driven, so it is definitely not for use on carpets. However there is a different Non-powered head that you can use on hard surfaces or low pile carpet such as throw rugs. All in all I think this was a good purchase and it is fulfilling my need.

Not the best
I just purchased this vacuum and have ultimately decided to return it after using it twice. I bought it initially because I was looking for a powerful vacuum that would do a deeper clean. This vacuum does have GREAT suction but is actually too powerful for my needs. My house is a mix of tile and hardwood with a few small rugs scattered throughout. The flat brush head that is designed for low pile carpet is so strong that it lifts even the corners/edges of my area rug. It is impossible for me to vacuum the smaller ones without holding all of the corners down somehow. Additionally, I found it tiresome to have to continue switching brush heads between carpet and hard flooring. The smaller, brush roller is strange. I found that it didn't really glide along as I would have liked and it is impossible to use either of the brush heads for both purposes (meaning that you MUST switch them going between hard flooring and carpet). I'm not sure who this vacuum would be good for. Like I said, it is VERY powerful, especially for the price. Maybe it would be good for you if you just had hard floor or just low pile carpet. I also think that the cord is a bit too short. With my old Dyson, I could vacuum from one end of my kitchen to the end of my living room but with this vacuum, I have to switch plugs for each room. Good value but ultimately not what I was looking for.

Love, love, love this hardwood floor vacuum!
It is now 2 years that I bought this Bissell hardwood floor expert vacuum cleaner....and I absolutely love it! I chose it because it has rubber wheels ( not plastic wheels) and won't scratch my expensive hardwood floor. I'm a senior, and this vacuum is very light! I appreciate the very long cord on it...I only have to unplug it once when doing my entire home. It gets under things really well; the suction power is great; and it is so very easy to empty! No more bags! Yeah. It works today as well as it did on day 1, two years ago. It pampers my floors with soft short bristles. It has two settings, 1 for the floor and another for my entrance carpet. It rolls around easily without much effort. I am so glad I purchased this! Thanks Bissell!

Love this vacuum!
This vacuum is amazing compared to the Dyson stick vacuum. The suction is amazing and it is very quiet. Light weight but still built very well. Highly recommend this vacuum.

Light vaccum perfect for hard floors
My previous vacuum was a dyson and it was 15 years old. It didn't have the suction power that it previously had. I don't have any carpets and wasn't using the beater bar attachment. I purchased the Bissell 1547 Hard Floor and so far love it. It's powerful and light. The cylinder is easy to clean. The only drawback is that it isn't very sturdy, it falls over while pulling it at times. I would highly recommend this vacuum, lugging out the vacuum isn't a chore anymore.
