Better features than others!
Bought this for my neighbor for a surprise when his older scale broke. He especially liked the features his previous one didn't have & can't wait for spring.

Rapala 50 lb Digital Scale
I have the same problem that another reviewer has using this scale. I found out that my fish don't weigh nearly as much as I thought they did. Oh well that's fishing. Lots of other reviewers have checked these scales and verified they are accurate so I don't see the need to redo that exercise and will take their word for it. The reason I knocked 1 star off the rating was because without the owners manual it was baffling to me on how to get it back to weighing in lbs when it was accidentally switched to kg. If you are running into the same problem the solution is when you press the button to turn it on and it starts flashing to press the start button again and it will go back to measuring in lbs. Yeah, it sure seems simple enough now that I've searched the internet for 10 minutes to find that answer but of course everything in life seems simple once you know the answer.

There is snow and sleet mixed in with the rain. The wind is blowing at over 50mph. Minutes later he returns to the garage. He comes back into the house. Turns the TV to the weather channel and he finds it is going to be very bad weather all day long, so he puts his boat back in the garage, quietly undresses and slips back into bed. There he cuddles up to his wife's back, now with a different anticipation and whispers, "The weather out there is terrible". To which she sleepily replies, "Yeah, can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in it?"

It was a short weight....
I received this today (2/22) and was eager to try it on the new 20# propane tanks that I got yesterday. I chose it because of the many negative comments about the dial pressure gauges. Convenient for sure. Several said weighing the tanks was the best way, so why should I argue with that since I'm a newbie to the more sophisticated propane crowd. I understood the 20# tanks should weigh in at 20 pounds. Makes sense. But this scale says my tank weighs at about 16&1/4 pounds. oookay. I guess I can accept that. Assuming 35# of fuel, the thing should weigh in at 51-52 pounds, or so. What I'd like to see on this scale is the ability to hold the weight in view until you could reset it back to zero. Otherwise, this one appears to be a long running heavyweight. Even if it did come from an Asian's garage.

Very accurate, probably hard to believe but i actually use this to weight baby rabbits in my rabbitry to monitor growth rates. Works well and no issues. I can assure that the auto shutoff does work well too, in my case it would be nice if the auto shutoff was set up for a longer duration because i do have to turn it back on a few times and re-set the tare in the time it takes to weight 10-20 rabbits. Not sure the duration, a minute or two which is plenty of time for what it was designed for. If mine does break i will replace it with the same model as i did verify that the accuracy is good which is the most important thing to me, as far as the auto shutoff, i am glad it does because i am one that would be replacing batteries all the time if not.

We've had the more expensive model for many years, but has been acting up so we decided to purchase a backup. Went for the cheaper model because of good reviews and never used settings other than tare and pounds/ounces of old scale. Use these scales in extreme temperatures many times a day to weigh feed for farm critters. Older unit has served us well over the years, but this one seems to be more quick to register weight accurately. Other than occasionally missing having the back light, we have been impressed and happy with performance. The unit feels light and does not inspire confidence that it could survive a fall from great heights. So far the unit is performing well and has cut down on time weighing feed.

Very accurate
This is the best of the rapala scales. It is very accurate and consistent over the years. The only issues I have is that it does not come with a sleeve or case and the battery connector is a bit flimsy.

Poor battery life
The digital display is a great feature. However, the 9-volt battery only lasts long enough for 3-4 uses even if I turn off the unit immediately after weighing 2 single hay bags.
