I ordered this Ergotron mobile computer workstand from Amazon in September 2015 as an, as yet, unproven means of accessing a small form factor high-spec workstation from my hospital bed, where I am currently confined. Ordering £1000 + worth of kit piecemeal (each component was a separate order) looked like huge risk, but nevertheless something that Amazon should have easily coped with. So, after some deliberation, I bit the bullet and went ahead and ordered everything I thought I needed, using information from Ergotron's website as a guide. After that, things did not go entirely smoothly. The pole arrived severely damaged and Amazon was not as helpful as it could have been with assisting with the return and replacement of this awkwardly large and heavy item. And then the availability of the 5-wheel base suddenly became problematic and I had to wait about a month for this to arrive. Meanwhile Amazon managed to duplicate a large part of the original order...! Collating the various component orders ended up becoming a frustrating and stressful experience, which I could have done without. Assembly of the CoW (Computer on Wheels) proved to be quite straightforward. All tools, with the exception of a basic screwdriver, are supplied with each and every component requiring them - with the result that I ended up with quite a large a pile of (Allen) keys, special screwdrivers, nuts, bolts etc surplus to requirements. Well, it's a lot better than being short of something. The attention to detail in the assembly is quite incredible. I have only one gripe and that is that, in order to reposition the brackets on the pole, it is necessary to separate the jaws of the brackets before attempting to slide them along the pole, otherwise they will scratch the pole horribly. This can be achieved by means of a thin coin inserted between the jaws and positioned against one end of a screw in such a way that that rotating the screw causes the jaws to separate. Complete with theErgotron LX Wall Mount LCD Arm andErgotron LX Wall Mount Keyboard Arm andErgotron 99-140 Mobile WorkStand Stabilizer Weight , the assembled workstand safely supports a modern 24in monitor, a wired keyboard and mouse, a usb hub, an optical disk player and a headphone amp, all with absolutely no hint of mechanical instability. The monitor and keyboard are easily repositionable relative to each other across my bed and the whole thing simply wheels out of the way when not required. In terms of both ergonomics and indeed performance, this is far better, for me, than any arrangement involving a laptop. Brilliant! In terms of quality of design and build and useability, this thing has been a life changer and has exceeded all expectations. The only thing I would suggest is that Amazon and the manufacturer should get together and put together a package of parts that can ordered together at hopefully a more agreeable price (and the possibility of a VAT discount). I have ended up with an avoidable pile of surplus parts, which were ordered - largely as a result of incomplete information - to ensure that everything essential was available at the time of assembly. Hospitals, hospices and nursing homes treating bed-bound patients should take note of this. For the patients, it is a real life changer.
