Red or gray? Which one will arrive at your door?

After Trumark's demise, I went with Barnett Crossbows' (red) Magnum band on my primary Trumark FS-1. That move has been disappointing: 1) The band is longer (minor point); 2) the velocity is between Trumark's Standard Pull and Heavy Pull; 3) the pouch is unjustifiably huge; and 4) the snap of the band after release is so loud that I have had to adjust my post-release, gripping-hand motion to minimize it. The only upside to the Magnum is that it has outlasted the median lifespan of the Trumark Heavy Pull. That red Magnum broke yesterday, so I replaced it with the backup gray Magnum that I received in 8/2020. This gray band has Magnum and model 16000 on the packaging. Amazon seller Barnett Archery Store (BAS) has two listings for the gray band at different prices. Curious, I went to Barnett Crossbows' website and saw the red Magnum and the yellow standard pull bands listed. No mention of a gray Magnum. A Barnett Crossbows representative could only tell me that they are not affiliated with BAS. She didn't know of the existence of a gray Magnum, but says that if the package says model 16000, then it is a Magnum since the standard band is model 16045. I suppose that Barnett Crossbows' change of ownership twice in recent years has added to the confusion. Assuming that the gray, no-Magnum-on-the-packaging band sold currently by BAS is the same as the one that I have from 2020, here are my points of comparison: 1) Each half of the band is 1/2" shorter than my red Magnum's; 2) this is a dual-layer tubing (see photo); 3) the 1/2" longer and 1/8" taller pouch is even more huge than my well-stretched red Magnum's; and 4) the post-release crack is much quieter. The dual-layer tubing's affect on accuracy, velocity, and durability remains to be seen. Perhaps its absence from Barnett Crossbows' current lineup hints at a lesser product that was discontinued. I miss the Trumark Heavy Pulls. 12/20/2022 Edit: The gray band can be found by searching for "B00279U8S6".

Swats Hard!

The parcel arrived on time. Although the product's packaging measured 13.5" x 2.5" it was sent in a 18.5" x 13.5" padded envelope. Not very efficient or thrifty. After opening I was p.o.'d that I was sent a gray tubed replacement as seen from other folks. I contacted Amazon, and they told me that they would replace the gray for a red tubed magnum, and I didn't have to return the gray. OK! I had the correct product in 2 days. I'm giving this a 4 star rating because of the frustrating time that it took me to install. I tried water, alcohol, even a sex lubricant! Bwwwaaah! 'Finally put the dad-gummed tube ends in simmering water for couple of minutes. That worked! The following a.m. I used it with impressive results. Acorns shattered upon impact instead just ricocheting. I've used marbles, clay ammo, and large rocks in the over sized pouch. I dig it, and I'm sure that you will too. Thanks to Amazon for the way they handled this!

Quality Slingshot Replacement Bands

I purchased this product to replace the worn out bands on my Barnett Cobra Slingshot. They are an exact fit replacement but quite difficult to install. Since the tight bands fit over posts on the slingshot, I had to use rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl) with cotton swabs to help lubricate the inside of the band tubing to help fit it over the posts that hold the tubing in place. After trial and error, I finally succeeded, but it was very difficult. You can’t use oil because it will cause the bands to slip off the posts when you pull back the sling. With that said, they have performed well and I would buy them again. Good value for the money.

Just my personal experience with these tubes

Someone else may well like these better than me as I found them to be too hard and stiff. Reminds me of using garden hose. They are obviously well made and should last a long time. Someone who is looking for a lot more power and really wants to stretch these tubes out would like these, maybe a professional. Personally I think they are overkill for 50 ft distance target plinking with my wrist rocket. Basically, unless you are an experienced shooter these may be a bit more power than you are used to. You should take the word "Magnum" in the product description literally. Happy shooting..!

NOT magnum bands - update

I ordered 3 sets.. what I recieved are 3 sets of Barnetts grey/greenish STANDARD bands NOT the red magnum bands at $4.99 they are still better than Marksman bands but dishonest listing, if ya need the MAGNUM bands don't order these if ya just need better than what came on your wrist rocket they will be an upgrade well after shooting 1 set on a Marksman wrist rocket, I gotta drop the stars to 2, the pouch is HORRIBLE if your shooting anything smaller than 3/4" it really effects accuracy, I shoot 9mm hard clay, 3/8" glass marbles, .380" lead balls and 3/8" steel balls and no matter which the way oversize pouch would make accuracy totally unacceptable so I installed one of my own pouches made from 100% cowhide (smooth side on inside yough out) these are 1" wide by 3 1/2" long I've been making and using them for about 25 years as everyone puts some version of split leather or fake leather etc.. on, anyhow this greatly improved accuracy enough I could get bands broke in after rubbing them with a drop of silicone super lube on each, within 10 yards speed looked ok but not great, so got out the twin to this Slingshot thats got red Marksman tubes on it... the Marksman tubes consistently shoot 48 -53 fps faster through my "Crony" chronograph I have a 29" draw length anchoring alongside my lower jaw using 2nd molar as anchor point have been an archer for 42 years I'm VERY consistent these tubes (the grey ones they sent instead of the red) might last awhile but if your looking for accuracy or range/speed your better off getting some tapered tubes

Nice, firm band. Good length. Pocket is HUGE.

This is a good band for a strong teen or adult. The length is good. The elasticity is firm, but just how I like it. The only negative for me is that the ammo pocket is huge. I plan to trim it with scissors. Overall, I would purchase it again.

bit of a crap shoot

I have had a few of these bands over the years and one thing that has become very clear is surprisingly for Barnett their quality control is really letting them down, the problem is that you never know what your going to get as far as the leather pouch is concerned, I have had them where the leather is so soft and weak (probably the edge of the hide) that after just a handful of pulls they have torn at the fastening point, now for me it wasn't too bad because I had an old pair of Rigger boots that I have cut up and made into pouches for my catapults, but if your relying on the one you get from Barnett then you may be disappointed, these two that I just got were absolutely perfect hence the 5 stars because when they get it right these are a great product for the price,yes you can get better at 3x the price but for what I do these orange bands are just right. I have in the past and will in the future continue to recommend these bands but I always make people aware about the pouch, so come on Barnett get your act together there's no reason ALL your pouches can't be as good as the two I have just bought.
