After slight modification they're great

Gave 4 stars because they are too tight. When the 7 inch seat swivel was installed the latch would not release. I had to take a hand grinder and grind a groove in the swivel 180 degrees away from the latch position. After doing that they release easily and work great..

Almost Perfect

Just like most people who Bought this product, I had to grind off 1/4 inch of my swivel seat on one side to get it to fit. Quick fix with an angle grinder. Other than that I love everything about these, it’s easy to get the seats in and out of the boat

Great alternative to removable seat.

Make sure to get only 6 7/8 swivel for seat. Use drill and tap set to mount where bolts can't be used.

Better than previous seat bases.

Now that these seat bases are metal, they are much more solid than previous plastic editions. I have to state, however, that I had to return one base as the release would not function due to poor machining. The replacement works well.

Great idea, but 7-inch model doesn't fit Attwood 7" swivel

Great idea and a decent product. However, the 7-inch model doesn't fit the Attwood 7" swivel base. I had to cut & grind almost 1/4" of the base flange off before the pedestal would lock and release the swivel. I ended up removing 1/8" from two sides, then marking the direction to load so it would fit every time. The build quality seems good, and once the swivel base was trimmed it is relatively easy to load and unload the seats. As others have said, there is a little slop in the fit. If there wasn't, it would be almost impossible to remove the seat (ask me how I know) . I mounted one quick disconnect on a seat clamp over a bench seat and another in the top of a storage compartment lid. I reinforced the storage lid with sealed oak plywood for extra strength. In both cases, installation of the quick disconnect seat was relatively simple. I would have given the seat base a 4-star review if the swivel base hadn't needed to be re-manufactured to fit. I won't be able to tell if it deserves points for durability and long-term usability until I have used it for a while. I would have given a 3.5 star score if it was allowed.

No such thing as a standard 7 inch swivel!

I have two Attwood Quick Disconnect Seat Mounts, and they say they take a 7 inch swivel. Well, as I have researched and tried now three different 7 inch swivel's, my conclusion is that a standard 7 inch swivel is not a thing that exists. So in the end, I kept swivel number three, got out my grinder, and ground the crap out of them to go in and out of the quick release mount. I don't know if this is the thing with Attwood, the swivel manufacturers, or both. I do know that all three of the different brands of 7 inch swivel's that I bought were all sized differently! So all I can tell you is, good luck! And perhaps save some trouble and buy a grinder.

Does not fit Attwood 17721 Seat Swivel

Bought this quick relase seat base for use with the 17721 seat swivel but did not lock into place like its supposed to. Get out the grinder! Its approximatley 1/16" too wide on the base to lock in. You need to shave down two of the sides on the bottom of the swivel base to get it to lock in place. You would expect two parts that are made for each other by the same manufacturer to fit togther....no...not these days. I expected more from Attwood as you pay more for this part for the quality. Once shaved it worked fine.

Use a riv nut tool and riv-nuts for quarter inch diameter stainless steel flat stove bolts.

I use my riv-nut tool when attaching these to the aluminum seats. I like to be able to remove the seats when I store the boat at the end of the season and these make the removal as simple as possible. Purchasing these thru Amazon saves me a lot of money as well.

Sturdy and useful product

Works as intended. Perfect to be able to remove your seats when you want. Does not include bolts or screws to fix the seat mount. Just check the sizing of your seat swivel plate, this product is offered in two sizes: 6.5 or 7 inches.
