Benvenuti al livello successivo dei mazzi drop Atom. Con il loro drop di 35 mm (3/4 di pollice) queste tavole si sentono tanto a loro agio girando per la città quanto scavalcando le colline per arrivarci.

High value longboard type thing.
I wanted to try out a longboard for a last mile commute situation. I am not into any typical longboard activities, this was just the most portable, inexpensive, efficient transportation I could find for 1-3 mile rides in each direction. This comes with softer wheels, standard kingpin trucks, and a slightly dropped deck. The factory combo is adequate. You can get on it and ride, and the wheels and deck make for a fairly smooth riding platform even on lousy roads. The bearings work well enough to start, maybe even better for beginners because they roll ok, but not like you're on ice. I ordered 3mm rubber risers and Bones Reds bearings, put them on after just one or two rides. Both were excellent upgrades, imo. The lower risers make the deck height a bit lower and easier to push, though they invite wheelbite if you are heavier and really work the rails. The new bearings glide great, and are good for probably twice the distance traveled for the same effort as the stock ones. With no other longboard experience, this set-up feels much like a big, heavy, cushy ride skateboard- though without a kicktail. It turns much like a reqular skateboard. The length feels adequate for a 6'+ rider, though it may be narrow if you don't like your feet hanging over. Overall, this should work fine as a transportation board on less than ideal surfaces that are flat or moderately sloped. It's faster, smoother, and more efficient than a skateboard, but the choice between this and a cruiser might be made by how you prioritize the deck height, overall size, and kicktail.

Great board for cruising and carving
This is my first longboard. I was looking for a stable board for cruising and carving around my neighborhood streets and trails and this board is perfect. Not having a kick tail took some getting used to but I knew that going in. The drop is low so its very stable on downhills and with some speed, make sure you adjust your trucks accordingly. I have not tried big hills or anything above 20 mph yet, my trails and roads are smooth so the wheels are fine as long as you keep your speed, i noticed at slower speeds the wheels catching on pebbles that my 65mm Sector 9 Nine ball wheels i have on my Madrid Cruiser rolls over no problem. If you want to slide easily, you'll want to change the wheels. The Area 51 wheels are for more grip than sliding with their sharper less beveled edges. I did upgrade the bearings to Reds and the wheels rolled significantly faster and made for more efficient cruising. Im 5'10" 185 and the deck feels solid and plenty stiff if you are looking for a sliding board. The money saved on this set up, with a truck and wheel upgrade you would have an awesome sliding board. At some point, I plan to get to Caliber trucks and Orangatang Stimulus wheels but for now Im Really happy with my Dark Tiki board!!

Good Experience from a Green Long Boarder
I'm 6 feet tall, 193 lbs, and 45 years old, but don't any of you millenials think I won't show you first hand that Old Man Strength isn't a myth. I'm an advanced wakeboarder, intermediate snowboarder, but haven't been on a board w/ wheels for 2 decades. (so take my review as such) I bought this board to commute around Portland Oregon. i.e. groceries, gym, dispensary, rides w/ daughter etc.t First off, the trucks were way too tight. I don't hit any major hills or generate any super speed, so I preferred the mobility of loose trucks, than the stability of tight ones. Secondly, the wheels were too tight, they'd barely turn w/ a hand pull (no pun intended). It took me a while to get use to the engineering of a longboard, It was strange not being able to do a 180' or pop the board up w/ a stomp. Once I adjusted to the style I understood how it's much better for cruising and commuting than the traditional board. I rode it 7 miles yesterday, mainly sidewalk, a few asphault parking lots, and had very few problems w/ obstacles. I "ate it" crossing the tri met tracks, and had to bail on a 3 inch vertical sidewalk crack. I read some reviews saying it's not a slide board, but I'm able to perform a heel side 90' degree slide on smooth parking lots. However, I'm struggling w/ that slide on concrete (sidewalks) (probably just my greenness). All in all, for 100 bucks, I'm very happy w/ the purchase and feel it's a great board to learn the basics. I'm heading to the coast soon, I'll report back on how it handles longer faster hills. Hope this helps someone, Aloha Mr. Hand

Best Board for the Money!
First, I'm 38 years old and needed something to keep up with my 12 year old. That said, I wasn't sure exactly what to get. Take my word for it, this is absolutely where to start. I sampled many boards at Tilly's and the drop deck is where it's at. For anyone planning to cruise, this thing is so easy to kick from because of the low deck height. Further, there's just enough flex (I'm 6'2" & 178 lbs) that the ride is fantastic. I mostly ride on asphalt, but it'll do well on concrete as well. Additionally, the wheels and bearings provide an incredibly smooth roll. One note, as others have stated, you should slightly loosen the wheel nuts, as they're a tad too tight from the factory. After a quick adjustment, my board was sailing! My daughter has a Goldcoast pintail with Super Reds and it rolls like a brick compared to the Abec 11's and factory Area 51's. In fact, I now have to replace her board because she always wants to ride my Atom drop deck. Another benefit of this board, is how well it carves. I've adjusted the trucks to be a little looser and I feel like I'm carving through fresh powder on a snowboard. Further, because of the cutouts, you'll never experience wheel bind. Really, this is way to go. Finally, it's beautiful. That's not exactly what a dude wants to have his board known for, but this thing is seriously good lookin'. The grip tape has a subtle logo cut out, and the underside is just rad! Honestly, there's absolutely nothing I would change. Stop looking and add this to your cart. You won't regret it. BTW - I was not compensated for this review. I'm tired of the incomplete, or less than helpful reviews.
