Holds 10 lb of dog kibble, made in USA, minimal plastic

Perfectly holds a full bag of dog kibble, no plastic to leak into the food, or deteriorate and end up in a landfill (except the lid insert), and made in the USA!

Great Large Jar!

The media could not be loaded. Perfect Large Glass Pantry Jar w Metal Lid, I was looking for a traditional design glass jar and this one is beautiful and made in America. Packaging was well designed and kept the item safe, but was confused why the item box packaging was inside another box

Dry storage only

Let me say first- Love the industrial/‘physicians sundry jar’ look of this container. I bought it to hold a large wet specimen because the heading said ‘air tight’ and the look is spot on. However…There are two small vent holes in the gasket, and the sticker in the lid specifically says dry storage only. I wish that had been stated in the listing. All that said, it’s really a gorgeous heavy (affordable) jar, & looks fabulous in the kitchen filled with flour. If you’re looking for really big dry storage jars for farmhouse/industrial, this is perfect. Would look amazing filled with beach finds, rocks, or even pool balls/gears/books/feathers, etc. Endless possibility. Plenty of room for decently sized (dust free!) vignettes.

Now this is a jar!

If you’re trying to figure out what I could use to store my cat food, I stumbled onto these wonderful huge jars. And I mean huge. They are perfect for dry foods especially for any pet owners that want to keep their kibble in a safe environment that also will keep things fresh but don’t have any bad chemicals or leaching of plastics. These bad boys are also incredibly good looking and the stainless tops are lovely. Two quick things; the lids are not screw ones you just pick them up… I was a little confused as I thought they would be screwed ones but they have some type of vacuum apparatus where you just open and close it and it shuts down the air. And, these guys are incredibly heavy. So if you don’t like or don’t want to have to navigate heavy heavy jars, these may not be for you. I actually love the heft of the jars as they are very solidly made but I can see if you were going to be using them daily it may be a pain if you need to lift them up and down. I just use a stainless steel scoop for each jar that I have for each type of cat food and leave the jars in my pantry and just open them up and scoop out what I need so I don’t have to pick them up. But they are very very well-made and a perfect addition for what I need for the cat food. Highly recommended.

Big jar for a great price. Can't speak for air tightness of the lid.

I don't need the lid so I have no opinion on the air tightness of the container. I am using it to brew kombucha. I have had issues with glass breaking in my past (bartender by trade) so I have taken precautions to prevent an accident. First of all I do not put boiling water in anything that is not tempered. I clean the vessel with Dawn dish soap and rinse very thoroughly and then spray the interior with %6 cleaning vinegar and let it sit. I'll then rinse the container with warm tap water (not hot) and spray the inside with distilled white vinegar (food grade) and let sit for a few minutes. Not only will the vinegar disinfect the container but it will not hurt the kombucha. If you are concerned about bacteria you could do fill the container up with warm water and a cap full of bleach and let sit for a few hours as a step before washing with soap (note that dish soaps often contain ammonia and will react with bleach that is still in container). Most of us stand to introduce more contamination through our sponges and brushes than we are removing from them. Unless you have reason to believe that there has been contamination introduced to your vessel I would be as delicate as possible.

Disappointing - not the same quality as before

The whole experience was horrible!! It took four orders to receive the right item, and the item quality is not the same as the one we bought a few years ago. The original one from a few years ago worked great at keeping the kibble fresh and ants out of the food, so we wanted another. Unfortunately, the quality of the new one is not the same, after multiple tries of trying to receive the correct product. Read our experience below: 1. First order, we received the wrong product and requested a replacement. 2. The second order (the replacement), we receive another wrong item and had to AGAIN request a replacement. 3. Third order, they sent the right item but it was absolutely SHATTERED. The moment I opened it, hundreds of tiny glass shards fell all over the floor. NOT acceptable for a busy household with multiple pets. From the previous experience, the glass itself is very thick and sturdy so it must have been manhandled pretty badly to have arrived in this condition. 4. The fourth order, they finally sent the correct item, but the moment I touched the lid, I knew this was now the same quality as our original container from a few years ago. The lid was lightweight and flimsy, and the rubber seal that locks out air and moisture was thin and brittle. The original container from a few years back had a thicker rubber ring and heavier weight, so closing the container actually kept things out and in. This new lid could fall off if shaken hard enough. I gave the new container the benefit of the doubt because I waited so long for it to come, so I put my dog’s food inside. The next day, ants were swarming all over the food. Weeks of our time and $70 of kibble wasted. Buy it if you only want it for looks, not for functionality.

This is huge!

This is huge. Much larger than expected for the purpose intended. However, that's on me as I had not properly read the description. My measurements are height is 11" to top of jar, and with the lid it is 12". The base is 8.5" across. Having said all that, the quality is very good (lid is not airtight as that is not the purpose). I love it! I have stainless steel finishes and this adds to it.

Fits a whole lot of rice

Exactly what I was needing to store my rice. I wanted something large and yet still nice looking. I didn't want plastic and bulky. This was perfect and still looks good on my counter.
