Not having good luck with some Garmin products
Bought this because it's too cold outside and I don't want to quit riding. Need to get healthy and hopefully help my mind out. Originally started with just a cheap fluid trainer that just didn't offer enough resistance, plus it wasn't a smart trainer. FIgured this unit would be much better. First thing. Do not use mountain bike tires on this. Kind of figured it wouldn't work out that well. It really didn't. It started to tear my tires up leaving black rubber bits all over the place and it's noisy as can be. I am not faulting the unit though. Once I put a trainer tire on my bike this thing was quiet as can be. Would say just as quiet as the fluid trainer I was using previous. To the product itself though. It's been a fight through the whole thing. From the moment I set it up, there was no way to properly calibrate it. Wouldn't tell me if it was too tight, or too lose. Instead it would just say that there was an error. All you can do at that point is guess which way it needs to go and try again. Never did get this to work. Due to the lack of calibration, it feels like the resistance was actually quite light compared to where it should be when using the power meter. Next issue was the built-in cadence meter. It was not worth using. I have a stand alone pedal mounted meter and it would read around 80-85 rpms, but the built in meter on this trainer would only read about 30 rpms. If you use this then I suggest buying a separate cadence sensor if you don't have one already. for road feel it's not that great. It has a very small flywheel. They try to compensate by using a smaller roller against the tire to get it to spin faster, but it just doesn't feel the same as the heavy flywheel that come on the Wahoo kickr Snap. The feel is very gritty and not very smooth. It's almost like you can feel the force from the magnets through the drivetrain due to this small flywheel. Also when you let off and quit pedaling this thing slows quite a bit quicker then a unit with a big heavy flywheel. This really isn't a deal breaker though. Sure heavy flywheel feels better, but it's not the end of the world. The speed at which it adapts to resistance changes is kind of slow in ERG mode. When doing a workout with quick 5-10 second sprints over and over again was impossible. It would take almost 3 seconds to go to full wattage and by that point the sprint is almost over and it was back to the low effort stage. Easy enough work around would be to just use level mode if you are doing any sort of HIIT training, or those with short spurts of high effort. Otherwise, if you are doing just a ride that didn't have quit changes to effort being required it was noticeable, but still doable at least. Would be nicer though if it was able to react quicker on ERG mode. Connectivity. This is the part where is was a deal breaker. On more multiple occasions I've had it drop connection with my computer mid ride. Sometimes it would be able to reconnect, and all was fine. More often then not though I would have one of two things happen. It would either just sit there and act play dead, or it would just go through this phase of reconnecting, disconnecting, reconnecting again and rinse and repeat. This would happen with both bluetooth or ant connections. Sometimes I could just disconnect the unit from the computer and then reconnect it, but 95% of the time that wouldn't solve it. Instead that would just get it into the reconnect/disconnect loop. Usually, I would have to power cycle the unit to get it to function again. This would happen quite frequently and most every ride and random points. One point it wasn't so random would be if I had to stop for a moment to refill water, go use the restroom, answer the door, or go yell at some kids. For some reason if I stopped for more then a minute it would go into failure mode and need power cycled to work again. I ended up buying a kickr snap instead and it didn't have this problem. All in all this might work for you but be prepared for frustrations every time you use it. If you need an indoor trainer, I would honestly suggest either getting a cheaper fluid trainer and save yourself 200 bucks. Or save up a couple extra bucks and buy the Wahoo Kickr Snap instead. That unit isn't perfect either, but it's better than the Garmin Tacx Flow every possible way other then the Wahoo does make some more noise due to the heavier flywheel.

Great Trainer and Accessories - Very Loud
The Garmin Tacx offers a ton of bolt adaptors to fit almost all road/commuter bikes that I've found. Due to my bike having a 3/8 bolt-in axle, none of the smart trainers I have tried so far have actually fit/been verified to fit. Garmin's website offers a 3/8 bolt axle adapter that I was able to easily screw onto my bike, and it's been a dream ever since. As some have mentioned, I've noticed that the ERG mode occasionally goes wonky, but I feel the smoothness in transition when riding Zwift and the overall ease of use makes this product amazing. Highly recommend it and have started to fall in love with cycling because of it. The only gripe is that it is quite loud - it can be heard throughout the whole house, even in the garage. I don't mind it when I put my headphones in, but I'm sure other people in the house will find it annoying if they're not getting any workout out of it.

Long term review: buy a different trainer
Long term review: Buy a different trainer Final update. After my reports of problems, I received several messages from Zwift users. In sum, they said the Bluetooth connection does not work reliably on Garmin machines. At their suggestion I bought an ANT+ receiver for $20. It worked, for three sessions. I have now asked for a refund from the seller. In the weeks I have used this trainer I have discovered that Garmin trainers have a known issue with connectivity. There are dozens of message strings discussing connectivity. My final review is this: buy a different trainer. I really wanted to like this trainer but the signal won’t hold and if it won’t work, I can’t support it. ————————————————————— I have had this trainer about 6 weeks. The trainer operates fine. But I got it solely to work with Zwift. Garmin advertises Zwift compatibility. In the last six weeks I have had nothing but trouble connecting to Zwift. Right now, Zwift won’t connect at all. I have spent hours troubleshooting to no avail. Reading Zwift forums, Zwift has trouble connecting to Garmin trainers. My lesson is this: if you are buying this trainer to be controlled by Zwift app, look elsewhere. ————————————————— Assembly is easy EXCEPT the tire size issue. You have to select slot 1 or 2 depending on tire size. However the slots are connected so getting the right one is a little tricky. That’s why I deducted one star. There has to be a better way. My rear wheel skewer would not fit so very glad they provided one. Once bike installed and Tacx powered up, pairing with Zwift was effortless. Once on Zwift ride, trainer provided a good feel. Resistance on hills not overpowering but realistic. Downhill was even better. Some people have reported excessive noise but I did not find that at all. I replaced a magnetic resistance trainer and this one is much quieter. Overall, I am really happy with this purchase. Good trainer for good price. And now I actually enjoy Zwift.

Connects seamlessly to my laptop and Zwift. Great entry level Smart Trainer
Easy to set up. Super easy to get biking and not be fussing with tech stuff. Super fun to be on Zwift. Sometimes the hills seem too easy so would recommend setting hill difficulty/resistance to max or at least 80%

Great entry level smart trainer
So far the Tacx Flow trainer has been great. Easy set up and calibration. Take note that you should warm up the trainer before doing a calibration. I tried doing it when it was cold and it would not complete. I then rode for 30 minutes and tried it again and it completed. I am using the trainer with Zwift and have found the cadence in Zwift is off. It seems to be very low and then at times is correct. I have now unpaired the cadence sensor in Zwift (which I assume is running off the trainer info) and instead paired the cadence in Zwift with my Garmin cadence sensor on the bike. This works much better now, providing accurate cadence data.

It’s a little loud!
It’s very sturdy but a little loud. Depending on what kind of tires you are using. Easy to set up!

Don't buy if you own a disc brake bike
I have a disc brake road bike and couldn’t fit my bike in it. I had to buy a special Axle (sold specifically for this product) but it didn’t work. So just a piece of advice: don’t buy if you have a disc brake bike.
