Great product that performs as it should.
Why you need this: If you have a generator (usually 5,000 watts or less) with a 20 amp female outlet (NEMA L14-20) and, as is typical, a generator transfer switch and/or inlet box with the standard 30 amp male outlet (NEMA L14-30) you’ll need a transition adapter. While some transfer switches will come with a separate 20 amp plug end, it still requires you or your electrician to build the cord yourself by taking the male end off a 30 amp generator cord and replacing it with the 20amp NEMA L14-20P plug end provided or purchased separately. If you don’t relish this or the prospect of cutting up a $70 dollar generator cord with its nice factory molded ends then this product is for you. Product arrived quickly and packaged in a clear plastic bag with factory tags attached. Looked exactly as shown in Amazon images. Twist lock connection to generator and inlet box was snug and secure. Product is only 1.5 feet long (end to end) which only leaves 12 inches of actual cord so I used an existing 20amp generator extension cable for added length. Ran generator for 4 hours and connection stayed secure, power was consistent and had no problems. I only wish it were a foot longer and that the end came with attached end covers like my extension cord has. Absolutely essential
Excellent interconnect cable. Have a 5,000 Watt generator with two 15 Amp circuits and a four wire outlet. When needed, I ran a pair of 12 gauge cords iand a separate ground wire n through a window and plugged everything in with extension corda. Messy. An electrician installed a 30 Amp generator outlet. Problem: the four wire outlet on the generator was only 20 Amp, so this cord fit nicely. The generator circuit breaker will trip before the panel breaker, so no worries.

Exactly what was needed.
In my rural home, we have questionable power outages -- more often than not, when inclement weather can't explain the problem. Because we're a low-density population area, it often takes the power company longer to respond, so having the ability to power my whole home from a generator is important. This bridges the gap between the standard 30A-30A generator supply cord I have and the 20A generator output socket so I can feed the whole house from the generator during an outage.

Very useful pigtail.
This pigtail does the job to allow me to hook up a 20-25 amp generator to a 30 amp receptical. No need to buy a 30 amp generator for a lower powered application.
