Needs Some Design Improvement
I wanted a compress/wrap for an arm injury. TO that end, the ACE Brand Cold/Hot Compress Multi Purpose Wrap does work, but it needs some design improvement. For a start, the pocket for the gel compress pack (which is included) doesn't hold it well. There needs to be a way to secure the compress in the pocket. Second is putting on the bloody thing by yourself for an arm. For a leg issue, you can use both hands to make it so that you can tighten the wrap. But when you are working on an arm, without someone else there, it is awkward and doesn't want to be tight. I end up forming the wrap and then sliding my arm into it, hoping I haven't make it too small or too big. Years ago, I had a small wrap that could be tightened with one hand and no issue. I wish this large wrap could have the same functionality. Otherwise, no complaints.

Two products that work well together...
This review covers both the ACE Compress Multi Purpose Wrap, Cold/Hot—051131204034 & the Ace Knitted Cold/Hot Compress, Reusable — 051131203990. Both these products use the exact same 9 1/4 inch X 4 inch gel pack. This bag remains moldable even at well-below freezing and is made of a durable plastic. The Multi Purpose Wrap holds the gel pack in a thin open-weave bag sewed to a 24 inch long (stretchable to 30 inch) velcro-like strap. In use, the strap is wound around the desired body part, such as an elbow or knee, applying a 4 inch band of cold to a 9 1/4 strip of the wrapped strap. The Knitted Cold Compress consists of just the gel pack plus a knitted bag just big enough for the compress to slide inside. The bag has a velcro closure at one end. I bought both and am using them together: The open-weave bag that forms part of the Multi Purpose Wrap is so thin that I find the cold is just too much. However, after sliding the Knitted Cold Compress's bag inside the other bag, the end result is a bag that is plenty cold without making me fell like I might end up frostbitten. The Cold Compress bag can be left in place inside the Multi Purpose Wrap, so that changing out a gel pack is just as easy as it would be if you didn't double-bag it. You are going to need two gel packs anyway if you want continuous icing, with one refreezing while you use the other. Buying one of each of these products is an easy way to accomplish that. Applying the Multi Purpose Wrap to an arm or elbow all by yourself can seem really difficult, but there's a trick to it: When you first try to wrap it, you'll do you very best to make the first turn just as tight as possible, but the gel bag will fight you, making it really difficult to end up with the first turn any way but loose. The trick is to stop fighting it. Just accept that, when you finish the first turn, the wrap is going to be gaping open. Ignore that and just keep winding around. When you get close to the end of the wrap, then pull tight until you get the end of the wrap exactly to where it needs to adhere to the wrap. (The fabric is plenty stretchy to allow that.) If the end of the strap is where it belongs, it becomes a simple matter to tug at the very start of the wrap until the whole strap is equally stretched and tight. (It helps to have someone else wrap the bandage the first time so you can see how close to the cross-seam the end of the strap needs to end up. Now, you have your target for you own attempts.) If the above seems as clear as mud, just come back to this review after you get the bandage. Once you see the problem for yourself, you'll understand the solution. Once I stopped trying to get that first turn of the bandage just perfect, my application time fell from around a minute to between five and ten seconds.

Comparison of 3 cold packs for lower back
I purchased 3 cold packs for lower back and they all work OK, they all got cold enough, they all stayed cold for 20 minutes (what my doctor recommends). However, overall the best one for me wasLower Back Gel Beads Hot & Cold Therapy Wrap Compress Pack + Fabric Cover - Reusable gel beads provides both ice / heat pain relief and rehab treatments. Great for sports injuries, chronic pain + more . It fits well, even for a 40"+ waist. The belt is a simple elastic with velcro that is very easy to use. The belt is a bit long but you can cut it to get rid of some of the extra bulk if you like. I was a little concerned with the belt attaching directly to the gel bead pack, but after a few months it's holding up fine. I like the cloth cover, it makes it comfortable even directly on skin. The second product isACE Compress Back Wrap, Cold/Hot . This a good product as well, and if my waist was just a couple inches smaller (38" or less) I would probably give it 5 stars. I really like the belt material, and the velcro is easy to use except for the fact that it's a couple inches too small for me. If Ace would offer an extension for the belt (just a 6" length of the belt fabric with velcro on one end) it would be great without making it too bulky for people with a smaller waist. The pouch for the standard cold pack is bit of a nuisance, they should close one end and make the opening a bit smaller on the other end so the pack doesn't slip out so easily. The third product isTheraPearl Back Wrap, Reusable Hot Cold Therapy Pack . I really wanted to like this one, it's got the biggest cold pack of the three and seems like a simple, easy to use belt. However, it has one serious drawback: the buckle. This just a bad design. It is clumsy to put on and take off yourself. The buckle tends to twist while you are wearing it and can make it a real pain to remove. If the buckle side just had a longer piece of the belt material so I could ignore the buckle and velcro to the belt on that side, it would be a much better product.

Hold ice pack

Not for one-handed application
I bought this to use on my elbow tendonitis, and although the Ace quality was excellent, I could not put it on my elbow with only one hand, even after trying various ways to hold it on my arm and tighten it enough to hold. Very disappointed I did not realize using one hand to apply would be a problem. Had to return it. If you have another person to help put it on, it's a great compress.

Ice pack not good/ and sleeve should be stronger with a zipper
This ice pack holder has potential but they really need to modify the design so the ice pack doesn't slip out. (ie using a zipper or a snap). I also thought the actual mesh material used to hold the ice pack should be way stretchier/a bit thicker so you can fit other size ice packs and have skin protection. The icepack that comes with this is woefully inadequate and doesn't even fit properly.

Good quality strap but small ice pack
I like the back strap but the ice pack is smaller than i thought. It is comfortable to wear though and i added an extra ice pack in there. Does the job for my sore back
