Been using these for years
Originally discovered in a store years ago. The newer models take the C batteries. The older models use the AA's. I have used them around the house. I just added 2 more for those wakeups and wandering around at night. Really happy with them and they have lasted a long time.

*Something Clever about a Cool Little Lamp Here*
From memory, this little lamp is only about 8 or 9 inches tall. The top sort of "cap" part of the lamp is about 4 inches across. What this means is that this lamp takes up very little real estate. Do you have a cluttered desk but still wish you had room for a small lamp? Well, in all likelihood, you have room for this little guy. The base of the lamp is not metal. It's plastic that looks somewhat metallic. I don't mind this. You power the lamp on and off by touching the top of the lamp. One reviewer mentions that their copper colored lamp only turns on and off by pressing the very top of the dome on the top of the lamp. They seemed to say that they owned a few different colors of this lamp and that the copper colored one was the only one with this "quirk". I have the silver model and it also functions this way. Although it doesn't seem to show it in the picture provided on the lamp's product page, my lamp has an embossed area at the uppermost top of the dome with a power symbol (a circle with a little vertical line) on it. My lamp only powers on and off by touching that raised area...which, for the curious, is about the size of a dime. As for the lamp's function, don't expect one lamp to light up a room the way a floor lamp might. I initially had this on a table in pretty much the middle of a room that's roughly 11' x 14' or so. All I needed this lamp to do was cast enough light for me to get from my bed to a light switch that is totally across the room without stubbing my toe or otherwise hurting myself. I wanted something close to my bed that I could turn on first thing when I woke up and that I could turn off as I was climbing into bed for the night. It does exactly what I need it to do. I wasn't looking for something to use for reading so this doesn't effect me, but I wouldn't recommend this lamp if you're looking for something to use as a bed side reading light. The light emitted by the lamp is very bright in a 1 foot radius around the base of the lamp. Outside of this "circle of light", it gets dark very quickly. I imagine that reading with it while sitting in bed would be about as effective as reading with a flashlight sitting 3 feet away and pointing in the wrong direction. I could see using this lamp to read while sitting at a desk, though, as you could put your reading material in the "circle of light" and be able to see just fine. So...in the end whether or not to buy this for reading is really more a question of how exactly you want to use it. While looking for a lamp, all I really cared about was not needing to plug it into a wall outlet. This way I could put it anywhere (even a table in the middle of the room) without worrying about tripping over a power cord. The touch functionality was not really what I was shopping for, but I'm very pleased with the feature. It's much easier to reach out and touch the top of this lamp than it would be to fumble around trying to find a power switch. The lamp takes 3 AA Batteries which are not included. The batteries supposedly last for 36 hours. They should last me a very long time considering the lamp will only be on for about 5 minutes at a time two or three times a day. I know it says so in the item's name, but it bears mentioning that the bulbs in this lamp are LED's. You probably own several flashlights that use these as the source of light. The quality of the light the lamp casts is very..."cold". This lamp doesn't shine the warm, yellowish or amber sort of light you can get from an incandescent bulb. Don't get me wrong...I'm not complaining...it was just something I noticed and thought I should mention it. Let me end this by saying that I really like my lamp. Very soon I'll be buying one to put on my dresser.

Seem to be made well and come in handy.
My grandmother’s sister-in-law gave her one of these several years ago, and she loves it. It’s still working great to this day. The quality seems good and they come in handy when the power goes out.

So handy
This is a nice little light for power outages. We don't get that many here where we live but I like having a safe lighting source if we do lose power. They also work outside in the yard in the evenings or on the porch.

I bought 2 of these. I already had one that was given to me. These are a must have. When the power goes out due to weather or power outage, we are so happy we have these. They are great to walk through the house when you don't want to turn on the light.

Great design, low quality
This is a very simple but good-looking design. It is all plastic: the cone-shaped bottom keeps the lamp stable because otherwise it would fall over, being so light. Insert the batteries into the bottom compartment, and touch the center of the top to turn on/off. That's it. Pros: - 12 LEDs give a nice light. Can you read by it? Yes, if you're close enough to the lamp. But it's more for general illumination, not for doing tasks. I have a true LED battery lamp for travel, and it has 30 LEDs. But it won't last anywhere near as long as this one, and it takes six AAs to power it. - Light is a cool white, but doesn't hurt the eyes with glare due to the diffuser cap on top. - Lightweight enough that if you wanted to carry it around, it's easily held in one hand. If the power goes out and you need some light to go down the stairs and check the electrical panel, this is MUCH better general illumination than a flashlight - and we have some of the best LED flashlights available from Amazon. – Much less bulky than most battery lanterns, and a lot better looking - AA batteries are the easiest to find of any battery size/type. - Inexpensive Cons: - The reviews that mentioned poor quality have a point. It's a rigid plastic, but I wouldn't vouch for its resistance to breakage or cracking if it was dropped. The interior is hollow except for a metal center rod and the thin wires that connect the LED bulbs on top to the battery compartment on the very bottom. The conical stem/base merely serves to lift the lightshade up to a height usable on a desk or tabletop (after all, what use would a lamp be if it were only 3" high, LOL). So there is no interior support that would prevent this from being damaged if it was knocked onto a hard floor, for example. - Because this is a metallized finish on plastic, no telling how durable its good looks will be in the long run - I bought two of these. One came in perfect working condition. The other did not. Fortunately all it needed was to fit the base on, screw the hex nut (which had somehow become loose in handling or shipping) onto the metal rod, and then insert the batteries. We'd recommend this as a nightlite, a supplementary light for a guest room, or for emergency general illumination. A decent value, but definitely designed as a throw–away if it stops working.

Great product. Bright , sturdy, easy off on. This is a must have.
This is a must have for everyone . Priced right the brightness is exceptional with a slight touch of the top turns light on and off if the power goes off no fumbling around trying to get your flashlight to come on. I recommend this product to every one for its convenience and it’s sturdiness .The product name is Light It

Great for power outages
It's lightweight and much brighter than I thought it would be. I use it at the cottage and when I lose power. I have one on my bedside table, take it with me to go to the washroom in the middle of the night!

Stylish LED light
Excellent LED light. Remember it’s plastic not metal but it’s looks good. It required 3AAA battery. Light is sufficient for dinner, study. If u want more light then keep at higher place. Overall good LED light.

Love this classy lamp
By far this is the best LED wireless light I have purchased and have tried out quite a few especially for camping. This lamp looks great and the 3 light functions work really well with a light touch to the top. The light is diffused over an area due to the concave top so it doesn't blind you in the eyes like other LED's can. At low setting its great on a table instead of a candle then tap 2 times and the light is bright enough to read a book or play some games. I have not changed the batteries yet as it doesn't seem to draw much power. Great purchase and thinking of buying more as gifts.

A great little invention
Looks nice, works as advertised, but with all the talk about electromagnetic pollution causing poor sleep, I was hoping to replace my electric bedside reading lamp with it. Unfortunately, having old eyes, it's not as comfortable for me to read by as some other commenters have suggested.. It is, however, reassuring to have it near in case of power failure, It provides soft lighting over a much wider area than a flashlight, and is much safer than candles. You could even throw a coloured scarf over it for romantic mood setting in the bedroom or on the dining table, and not have to worry about fire. (Don't know what made me think of that; maybe my horoscope for 2015 is telling the truth!)
