Minimalist Work From Home Solution
I have worked from home no less than 1 day per week for the past 6 years and exclusively from home since March 2020. I have had number of solutions/work spaces in my home including: desk from IKEA, working at the kitchen table, and working from the couch with a laptop cooling station as a desk. All of those solutions had common challenges: 1. Not a dedicated space which required packing and unpacking my computer and work items each night (exception for the ikea desk), 2. Not designed for sitting endlessly for hours each day (exception to the IKEA desk), 3. in the case of the IKEA desk, required additional furniture (desk chair) and had a large footprint; to name just a few. Needing a more permanent solution that would alleviate the above challenges, I began searching for a ‘C’ table on Amazon when I came across the Able Life Universal Swivel TV Tray Table, Portable Laptop Desk, Adjustable Couch Desk for Computers (their product name, not mine ????). Certainly it was more expensive than a C table; however in my opinion it the Able Life offers more flexibility and can be customized to fit the height of the chair you have (where as a C table would be a single height). Another benefit was that the Able Life allows you too easily get into and out of you seat. This is an overlook hassle- with a C table or other, you’d have to move the table each time you get into and out of the chair. Assembly and Set-up: Assembly is straight forward and the instructions clear enough. I will say the directions for installing the two set screws for leveling the top weren’t hardly clear. There is a limit on how ‘narrow’ you can make the base, but that can be over come, if so inclined, by cutting the bar(s) and connector that attach the feet. Conversely, there is a maximum width on the base, indicated by a ’stop here’ etching on the connecting bar. While the images on the product page show a configuration thats orients the table alongside the sofa/chair (front to back), for me installing the table with under the two front legs of my chair was the best option. That was partially because of the design of my chair, whereby the rear legs are set inside the front legs (its an arched base chair), although I could have used it as pictured- it would’ve just been angled a bit and I wouldn’t be able to push the chair I am using as far back (chair is angled in a corner versus being flat to a wall). I found an added benefit of setting the table in this configuration provided a better ‘footprint’ while also (since I am using this with a chair) keeping the chair from being at an angle. I had originally considered adding furniture feet to level the chair legs, but setting the table under front legs eliminated one side of the chair being ever so slightly higher. Setting the height of the work surface is easily accomplished and a set screw is tightened after setting the height to secure the riser. One thing I cannot opine on, and it may be less comfortable, is using this with a couch or armless chair. If on the end of a couch, you’d have an armrest (on the left or the right side of you and no arm rest on the other side). Having one arm on a couch arm rest and the another not supported might make this an odd setup- but since Im using this with a chair and the chair has arms; I set the height of the table such that my arms rare supported, resting at ninety degrees on the arms of chair and not putting a lot of weight on the table surface itself. Add-Ons and Modifications: I purchased the add-on “utensil compartment” to keep a few pens and my AirPods nearby. I also purchased the add-on “base tube organizer” to keep a pack of sticky notes, my Magic Mouse and a dust brush within arms reach. These accessories are easily installed in a moment to two. I also made a couple of modifications to the riser. I’ve added some cable clips (OHill Cable Clips, 16 Pack Black Cord Organizer Cable Management) with outdoor double sided tape for power cord management. Lastly I bought an iPad mount (Aduro Solid-Grip iPad Stand Holder 360 Adjustable Universal Gooseneck Lazy Tablet Stand for Desk) and cut the clamp off. I then drilled a 1/2” hole in the cap of the riser on the table and inserted the remaining iPad mount into the table riser. I had tried using the iPad mount clamp, but I couldn’t get the clamp to the attach in a position I liked and it took away some of the minimalist design of the Able Life table. Of course, an additional accessory could be designed by Able Life to recreate my solution and offer a mount for tablets… Able life, I release all rights to this idea should you pursue it - a simple credit or acknowledgment would be nice ???? Using the table: Usage is straight forward. Pivot the top out of you way, sit down and pull the top towards you. The pivot of the table arm, combined with the swivel of the table mount, enables a wide range of motion and possibilities for getting position right for your set up. One downside is with this type of single arm design, and by no means a design flaw of the Able Life, the table can bounce a bit when writing or typing. It’s not a huge issue, however if you’re on a video call the other participants may see jostling. Reflecting on my earlier comment about using this on a couch, the more thought I give to that set up, the less comfortable I think this would be for all day use. If I could make any recommendations it would be to offer a few different color options. I’ll distress the top of mine to better match my decor and I’ll spray paint the base and riser an antique brown; again for aesthetics. I’d also suggest rounding off the edges of the table surface as they are a bit sharp. Summary: So, is this a good work from home solution for you? I would say you’d be hard pressed to find a better solution if you want a minimalist design, plenty of configuration options, a small footprint, the ability to use your existing furniture, especially an arm chair, and only need a work surface large enough for a laptop and using a mouse or writing with pad (legal size or similar).

Gives more autonomy.
I have vertigo, FMS, and intermittent difficulty gripping things. I had a lap desk, which until this table, was my best option, but it meant I was IKEA Poang chair locked until someone got free to lift the lap desk off of me. Because it was a lap desk I also had items and drinks fall into my chest. This table has none of those issues. It holds the table parallel to the floor (unlike my lap desk that tilted toward me), it also swivels on 2 points in a way I adore. The table top spins all the way around parallel to the ground. So I can turn the top so the opposite side is facing me without having to remove items from it. The movement for the table top is smooth and easy to move without being too easy, which would make things fall off. I noticed online they have instructions on how to adjust the friction of the table top swivel movement. The only issue I have is that the pivot arm that moves the table away from you is too stiff for me. That pivot arm does a full circle movement which is quite handy. I have to focus hard to move it myself. Not impossible or painful (unlike my previous solution), but is something that is not easy for me. Where I do appreciate that I won’t bump it and move the table away unexpectedly, I do have to make sure when my pain is high to give myself extra time and 2x I had to ask for help, but those were level 8 of 10 on the pain scale days, so not unreasonable. I do expect the arm to be easier to move over years of use, but I could be wrong. I deducted a star because, I had been hesitant to buy this for a year due to the lack of elegance. I had really wanted something beautiful and functional. The 3 other items I got instead, lap desk, L shaped swivel top couch table (L part made sitting in the Poang uneven and uncomfortable for me, plus there was no way to move the tray part out of the way for me to sit by myself and put under the Poang rail just before I sat. Worked great for my love seat, but not for my Poang. The endeavor I got was too awkward to use and did not put a tray over my lap. I can say where I do not find the table I am currently reviewing as attractive, it is not ugly. The positives far outweigh my aversion to its aesthetic and I wish I had bought it a year ago. I have noticed it’s the nicest looking out of the similair ones I have seen. It is a good quality and the bamboo table top adds an unexpected quality that elevates the piece style wise. I was delighted that it’s not so smooth a finish that things slip. They stay, but it’s not rough to the touch. I do deeply enjoy the size. I can eat, put my plate to the corner and play my Nintendo switch using the table top to steady my hands. I love this for that too. It’s such a well thought out size that I have not installed the cup holder. I just have not felt the need. (I felt the need to add a cup holder to my office desk, kitchen table and Rollator. The fact I don’t feel the need to use this here is unexpected. I would buy again and earlier. I love the independence it gives me.

Sturdy and moves out of the way with ease.
This table is fabulous! Easy to move away from you and pull towards you. Can adjust height. I was worried that my computer would move around on the wood surface without a piece on it to stop it but it hasn’t moved. I would have liked some kind of pad or something that stops possible movement but also to use as a place to use to pull table towards you as it slippery for the hand but I’ll look for some. It was easy for my husband to put together but he had to search the box for a bolt that wasn’t with the others.

That experience registering product
Product with great and easy to assemble. However, registering the product Weis very cumbersome and challenging. The free easy lift product that was promised during product registration was not really free. They asked for my credit card and were going to charge me $65 to deliver to Canada. Needless to say I stopped at this process and close the browser. It's unfortunate way to treat your customers after they received such a good product. Suggest you stop trying to get people to register 4 a free gift the reason this didn't get a 5 rating is because of the product registration.

It swivels out of the way!
Bought it for my Mom. Got grief for wasting so much money on a "fancy" TV tray she didn't need. We just moved my 96 year old Mom into an assisted care residence; the first night the attendant brought in her dinner on a tray, I swung my Mom's new Universal Swivel TV Tray Table around in front of my her recliner to hold the dinner tray. My Mom glared at me and at the dinner sitting on her new TV table in front of her, and ordered me to take it away - she wasn't hungry. I replied that she would have to wait for the attendant to take the dinner tray away and then I swung the tray away to the side. The next day, she informs me that she hates the residence, but the food is pretty tasty. Oh, and by the way, the TV tray table is fantastic - why didn't I buy it for her years ago. Whole hearted testimonial It's expensive, but worth it.

Solid construction, stable
My husband is disabled and needed a sturdy table for his armchair. Because it relies on the weight of the chair to anchor it, it is quite stable. The frame is heavy duty metal and the table top is nice quality. The table surface could be a bit larger, but it does the job. The arm that rotates 360 is a bit stiff. This might loosen up over time. I am not a tool person, but I was able to assemble it with the simple tools (included) without difficulty. Value for money? It is pricey. I’m guessing most people could make do with something less engineered, but for us it was worth it.

Excellent product!
Great quality and works great! Easily adjustable and unobtrusive. Though the top is a bit slick, making things slide if you move the table too quick…. So hold on to your wine glasses!
