Great for hockey refs

Buy XL if you are an Adult
I bought this brand a few years ago because the hockey shop no longer had the brand I had previously. Bought the SR size as those should have been the right size. Nope!! As I have read in a previous review, they are about the right size for a child. Just purchased the XL from Amazon, and they are much more appropriate. I wear size 14" shin guards for roller hockey. See picture for both sizes side by side. XL is wider for sure. Will try them out in a few days to see how they work, but I put them on over my shinguard and it is much better. Quality of the SR ones have been okay. I will write a follow up review in a few months.

Great product. Terrible durability.
These arrived yesterday and I was extremely excited to begin my new life without having to use clear tape. In order to test the fit and effectiveness of the sleeves, I immediately took them out of the box, threw on a shin guard, and slid on a sleeve. It fit perfectly and certainly held my shin guard in place. Unfortunately, upon removing the sleeve for the very first time I heard a tearing sound as the low quality stitching around the band at the top began to fail (see image). Overall, a great product that seems to do exactly what it claims to do, but one that already appears to not be able to hold up in the short run, let alone the long run.

The A&R Sports Shin Sleeve is ideal for any hockey player that is sick of spending money on clear tape for their shins and want to keep their shin pads tight to their legs to prevent injuries. I play hockey for Iowa State University’s Cyclone Club Hockey team and skate five times a week so I take hockey very seriously. I expect a lot from my equipment so that I can be comfortable and perform at my highest level. When I purchased this product there were certain specifications that the product needed to meet for me. One thing the product needed to do for me was keep my shin pads tight to my legs. This is really important to me because sometimes my shin pads can shift around during games and practices this shifting of my shin pads may make my leg exposed to sticks and shots. Another benefit I needed from this product was it to be light. Having skates, socks, hockey socks, shin pads, and hockey pants all on the lower body makes moving your legs tough even with the lightest equipment. It is very important that the A&R Sports Shin Sleeve is light. I'm happy to say after using this product for over two months I am extremely satisfied with the A&R Sports Shin Sleeve. Not once have my shin pads shifted on my legs this product keeps your shin pads tight to your leg. For example, the other game I went down on one knee to block a shot and my shin pads stayed in the correct position so I was not injured in result of the shot. The product also doesn't add extra weight to my legs witch is very nice especially when you have to skate at practice. Last but not least the best thing about this product is that you don't need to use clear tape anymore once you have this product! From my own experience with this product I would highly recommend this for any hockey player sick of paying for tape, if you buy this product you can save a lot of money in the long run. I would also recommend this to any hockey player that wants to keep their knees protected. This product could save you from an injury from any sticks or pucks by keeping your shin pads in the correct position. I hope this review is helpful to anyone that plays hockey.

Thicker material than expected
It’s a decently thick sock-like material so it’s pretty warm

No turning back.
I bought these when I had shin pads that didn’t have straps and I loved how they kept the shin pad snug and in place. I love them so much that when I did get new shin pads that have straps I still use them to make sure there is zero movement. I haven’t use me clear sock tape since I started using these and there’s no going back for me.

Good supplement for sock tape
As fun as it is to add sock tape to the sock tape ball after every skate, these sleeves have been wonderful. They keep the shin pad nice and snug and have allowed me to go sans clear tape ever since.
