High Efficiency and Effective
These are outstanding filters for your respirator (I use them on my 6000 series model3M 6300 Half Facepiece Respirator - Facepiece Only - Large Size, Requires Filters or Cartridges ) and are a terrific value when compared to the damage to your lungs they prevent. I am a contractor and I use them often for work, but they are just as great in the shop, yard, house. Here is my review of the product based on my experience. Pros: * Effective - These really block the particulates. Whether used in the workshop for wood dust, blowing in attic insulation, or cleaning out the dusty old attic, these filters will protect your lungs. They are also effective in blocking nuisance levels of organic vapors: Good for using spray cans of paint on your old yard furniture certainly, but not to be used in a high concentration environment like a professional spray booth. They are perfect for welding or brazing, outside airless sprayer use, in the woodshop, etc. * Efficient - These P100 filters are rated at 99.97 percent efficient, so there really isn't anything that's going to get through. Certainly good enough for allergy sufferers working in the yard or around the house, these filters are also ideal for working in commercial or industrial environments. They have a large surface area that resists clogging over time and keeps the breathing easy. These are some of the most comfortable filters I've used. * Lightweight - These filters weigh next to nothing. If you've used P100 rated canister-style filters like I have, these lightweight filters will be a revelation. Unlike the heavy canister filters that begin to cause discomfort within an hour, these can be used all day with no problem. I've found that the tension straps on my 6000 series mask don't need to be nearly so tight to keep it in position because these lightweight filters don't try drag them mask off my face as the day wears on. * Color - Bright pink that just screams to everyone in sight that you are protected from the toxic environment all around. That's a good thing, right? OK, maybe not, but I've found that the bright color has two advantages: 1) you can tell in an instant and from a distance if your crew is in compliance with their breathing apparatus, and 2) it makes it easier to tell (other than by your breathing becoming difficult to indicate that your filter is clogged, which is already too late) that your filter is getting full or is clogged by foreign matter. I appreciate this visual indicator, as I've had a hard time in the past when light colored particulates have covered my white filter. But pink? The color may not be for everyone, but you'll learn to love it every time you think about what they're doing for your lungs... * Value - For P100-rated filters that last, are comfortable to used, and that can't be beat for protection, these represent a fair ripper of a bargain. * Durable - While not to be used in the rain, these are moisture resistant. I was skeptical until I was in a misty environment, and they still perform very well so long as they are not soaked. I've also had them catch on various branches and machinery and have been surprised how resistant they are to tears and damage. Cons: * Color - I'll admit the color may not be for everyone, but I've learned to love it. Bottom line: These are outstanding filters for an excellent value. I've never had a complaint when using them and have found them to be long lasting and very comfortable to use; when it comes to the protection they afford, they are second to none, in my opinion. Five stars for top rate protection and highly recommended.

Good with note of warning
****Update - 7-22-2012**** - please read the comments section for a link to a PDF that aids in selection. Right now I don't have time to read it to adequately update this review. 1. I am lowering the start one rating due to the difficulty in understanding which filter covers which substance/need. I know looking across the product line and reviews on Amazon that people are using certain filters in situations that don't match the filter. (what does "organic vapor relief" really mean anyway?) 3M needs to put out a mass matrix (or a look-up web site) that lists many different uses/chemicals/substances and then the appropriate filter. I have seen a matrix or two, but they are too simple. No need to over kill on a more expensive filter or more importantly end up getting the wrong one. It doesn't appear there is one filter that covers everything. If you think it is this filter, read my warning below as one example. Which filters should I used for an insecticide or pesticide? 2. It would also be nice if there is some way you could tell when a filter needs to be replaced. (like a color change). 3. As other have noted this item is two filter (2 pack) work together. You are getting one filter set. 4. It would be nice to have a way to buy multiple sets and save some money. I know there is a 50 pack out there some where to buy but a 5 or 10 pack would be good. A word of warning for ozone use.... Adding a note, based on reading, you need to use an Oxygen tank system for use in a High Ozone environment. see Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, or SCBA. I recently purchased an ozone generator (shock treatment/blast) for cleaning/odor removal. This filter is often referenced as being suitable for use to work while (by some of the makers for the ozone generators). looking at 3m documentation, this filter isn't rated for high levels of ozone. It is approved for 10x OSHA specs for normal. A ozone shock treatment does a lot more then 10 times (according to 3M this is for "concentrations up to 10 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL))". I found this out the hard way. I was using the mask to work in other areas of a building and started getting discomfort. I decided to stop the ozone treatments and do something else but had repository issues for the next day. Just a guess, this filter is really only good for 2-4 hours in a high ozone environment. Disclaimer: I have no information to back this up other than when I first had it on, I had no issue for a couple hours and the air was clean. I was using a 14,000 MG ozone generator in less than 1,500 square feet. If you are using a larger generator you may not get much protection. I think I hit about hour 6 hours (filter use over multiple sessions, when I started noticing problems. By then it was too late. According the manual these filters are suppose to be good for 40 hours. Most of my use was not in the actual room where the generator was, but it other rooms usually protected by a door (of course ozone leaks out really easy). So I will only use this filter for ozone generator setup/starting. So much for my idea of wearing this mask and still working in a building to save time. As I said this filter was mentioned by some of the generator manufactures for use. If someone knows of another inexpensive option for ozone filtering, let me know. See note above about "self contained breathing apparatus" (SCBA). I am sure this same issue would apply if someone is painting and the there are too many fumes that the filter becomes overwhelmed too soon. ******************** Here is the wording from the instructions on limitations: Time Use Limitations 1. If filters become damaged, soiled, or breathing becomes difficult, leave the contaminated area immediately and replace the filters. 2. If used in environments containing only oil aerosols, dispose of filters after 40 hours of use or 30 days, whichever is first. 3. If used for ozone protection (3M 2097 and 2297 P100 Particulate and nuisance level organic vapor), replace filters in accordance with an established change schedule, or earlier if smell, taste or irritation from contaminants is detected.

Good filters, watch out for fakes
Works well and eliminates some odors. Always buy from amazon.ca or reputable dealer. The real filters are 12-14g in weight and have activated carbon inside. The fake filters are ~6g and a very thin paper carbon layer.

Great Mask Filters
With all of the forest fire smoke we had this year in Vancouver, I wanted to improve the filters that I had in my mask to reduce the smell. I'm asthmatic and I'm allergic to certain trees. Their smoke makes it very hard for me to breathe when I'm out walking the dog. This mask not only blocks the smoke particulates but with the charcoal, it also blocks the smell nicely too. Also works nicely to block the pollen from the trees in the spring. I may look like "Walter White" while walking my dog, but I can breathe.

Frontline workers need options
I was so elated when I was able to get this filter. I'm a frontline workers and my institutions PPE are extremely limited...literally we have to keep our n95s for 8 weeks. So as someone who takes care of Covid-19 patients having the ability to purchase my own PPE is essential. It's so disheartening to see my fellow comrades coming becoming covids positive because they don't have adequate PPE. I was trying to buy also PPE for.my co-workers a couple items at a time so not to deplete the system but now we have to rely on our management to get the PPE...and they choose to wait for the government stockpile versus just buy what's available on a site such as this. So thank you for allowing me 30 more days of safety while I take care of my patients
