Great bag for EDC, hikes, etc.
I bought this bag about 18 months ago, but didn't use it much at first. Then I started using it every day about 7 months ago and figured I'd really get some use in it before writing a review. In that time I've come to love it. it feels very high quality, although I must admit that some other, more expensive, Maxpedition bags seem a bit sturdier in some regards. Double zippers on some of the pouches, heavier lining materials, etc. But still, this bag feels quite high grade and I've had no issues with tearing, fraying, busted seams, zipper breaks or jams, etc. It's not a big bag, so I don't know if this'd be adequate for a BUG Out or Go bag, but for an afternoon hike, general EDC, a gym bag or to throw in a few emergency items, this would be great. There's two mesh water bottle pockets and neither have had any issues despite both being used every day. Each can accommodate a .32 oz Nalgene bottle (3.5" or 89mm diameter) with no problem. The main straps are fully adjustable and secure as well as the sternum strap that connects via plastic/polymer buckles. There's some MOLLE webbing on the main exterior pouch as well as above the side water bottle pockets, so you could attach smaller pouches or use them for clipping items, attaching paracord, etc. Lastly, under the main exterior pouch there's some shockcord which could be used to carry a larger pouch or a small, thin bedroll, rolled up towel or whatever else you can thing of. For the price, it really is great quality.

An excellent small pack for both city and trail
I own several Maxpedition packs, slings, and bags that accompany me while bicycling, shopping, hiking in the woods, or just hanging out at the local coffee shop. Depending on what I’m doing, I might be carrying a notebook, iPad, books, extra sweater, water, raincoat, lunch, or a dozen other things, and different packs are better for different tasks. The Noatak is great for biking, the Neatfreak for work, and the Versipacks for short hikes and daily carry. Each has advantages and disadvantages. The Versipacks are very convenient on short hikes, but look a bit too “commando” for every day use, and don’t carry well on a bicycle. The Neatfreak is low key, but barely big enough to carry an iPad, charger, and a few pens and pencils. Even though it shares a lot of the military style and features like PALS loops with other legacy Maxpedition packs, the Pygmy Falcon-II doesn’t look out of place in the city. The new Wolf Grey color makes it look more like a piece of luggage and less like commando gear, yet it’s still a good color for blending in when hiking. The interior organization provides plenty of storage for electronic gear, pens, pencils, and books, while still providing enough room for everything I need on a day hike. The two water bottle pockets allow me to carry two or three pints of water externally, and an interior sleeve provides a place to hold a hydration bladder for longer hikes and bicycle trips. The bottom of the pack is a piece of heavy duty waterproof material- a necessity in the wilderness- and there’s plenty of space to attach external pockets and lash on bulky clothing. Most small backpacks cheap out on the details, and have thin shoulder straps that roll under load, but the straps on this pack are firm and wide and comfortable under a heavy load. It looks small, but with a rated capacity of 1100 cubic inches (18 liters) it can carry a lot more than you might expect. It’s a small pack built to the same standards as Maxpedition’s biggest packs, and that alone was enough to convince me to buy it.

Perfect basic BOB kit--or day hike pack
Love this. The color is a bit darker than the pic here and looks amazing. As a Firefly fan, having a Browncoat color pack is, well, just plain shiny. I got this because while I love the 5.11 Rush Moab 6, anything more than ten pounds and it starts to pull the neck/spine wrong. Which is normal for a sling bag, so that meant either a move to a two strap beastie or cut what I wanted to carry. Enter the Pygmy. Small enough to avoid getting too much, but large enough to carry more than a sling comfortably. What I really like about this pack is its narrow profile--in all directions. Perfect for moving quickly or through/over stuff as it doesn't add even the bulk of a regular college book bag to your back. Check out some Youtube videos or go to the Maxpedition site if you want to get a real look at the bag. This just became my new base BOB kit. As soon as I can, I'll get another one in another color to be my regular day hike pack. I might add the Proteus or a Thermite, but I haven't decided. Not a young chick anymore so lighter while still giving heavy duty performance is everything. I can get my entire kit plus food and clothes in this. Obviously, this means that I changed 'down' in gear sizing, IE: From Katadyn Pocket to Sawyer Mini, Zebra 14 billy to Zebra 12, less paracord and more bank line, regular tarp to now a silnylon one, etc. and with Under Armour, Icebreaker, etc. for clothes instead of the higher volume eating types of clothes I would ordinarily have. Sure, I still have my Frost River pack for regular camping, with the larger items stashed inside because, well, I get delivered to the area via car and can set up camp and then go hiking. The Pygmy gives me what I need when I have to move on my own over long distance or busted up area, keeping maneuverable enough to avoid being targeted as having a pile of stuff. Some people complain about Maxpedition's prices. Some things are just worth paying for. And having a solid bag you can count on without all the unnecessary crap is worth it.

Awesome maxpedition backpack for daily carry. High quality all around as always from maxpedition.
Highly recommend! This bag is very well made, as usual with maxpedition, and is a great size for daily carrying items. It isn't large and cumbersome and can hold a decent amount for a daily go bag. The only con I have with it, and it's more of a pet peeve, is that the way it's designed prevents it from standing upright on it's own when loaded up. It will tip over if you go to set it down because the center of gravity is too high and the outside pocket is higher up. Like I said, more of a pet peeve for an otherwise amazing bag.

Very well known as a great company
Got these for the kids for emergency bag. I like that they are slimmer when you are on the move. To bad it isn’t made without all the molle so it wouldn’t stand out

Idk it’s just mine but no sternum strap included
Just got my pack yesterday, opened it today, bummed that there is no sternum strap as shown in the pictures, not a deal breaker but just kinda disappointed Build quality typical maxpedition, looking forward to running it as my new edc for 2023

Good quality
I use this as a great grab and go bag for everyday tasks. I use it for carry binders, water, and pens to class. I also use it when I travel home. It is a great quality bag and it is my favourite now. I also own a rush 24 by 5.11 that I use when I have more stuff to bring. This bag sits nicely between the shoulders.
