Going back to the original.
I've had a LOT of backpacks out there including a lot of the big names. I actually started out with Maxpedition with the Condor II when it first came out. I had it for about 5 years through all kinds of rough stuff before I lost it to a burglary at home. After that I decided to try out a few other brands through the years including Spec-Ops T.H.E. Pack, Tactical Tailor fight light, GoRuck GR1, 5.11 24hr, and a few others. So when I wanted to buy myself a new one for Christmas I went back to the original. The only gripe is they don't have the digital Camo like my first one. It's definitely like coming home again. One thing that surprised me is that I didn't remember the straps being as narrow as they are so it's digging in a touch more than I remember. This isn't to say it's painful but after using my GoRuck for the past 5 years it is definitely noticeable, but at less than half of my go-ruck I'll take it. Beyond that I almost forgot how much I loved the modularity of the pack while not being too busy. There's just enough organization that it's easy to keep what I need without being overly ladden with hidden nooks and pockets (like the 5.11 products). Nor is it too slimmed down that I need an army of other pouches to keep things organized (like Tactical Tailor or Go-Ruck). The durability is spot on just like I remembered as well. I can't wait to use it over the next few years.

Whats not to like?
I purchased this pack to take with me, basically everywhere. I wanted to put together a modular pack system that held items that could get me through a night or a month. I knew that the pack was not large, but since I was putting together a modular system, I thought it would be about the right size. The main pack carries quite a bit of gear. I do have a few pouches attached to the outside of the pack, which allows me to quickly take what I need if I do not need the entire pack. I have a first aid pouch. A water bottle pouch (where I keep a stainless steel bottle with nested stainless steel cup & my eating flatware , and an utility pouch (where I keep my fire starting kit). In the main pack I Have 8 x 10 tarp, two heavy duty reflective survival blankets, roll of plastic sheeting attached to bottom of pack with the packs bed roll loops), file, knife sharpener, two knives, Kukri machete, carpenters ax (ax and machete attach to molly loops), hand saw, fishing pole W/reel, fishing kit, sling shot, water filter, stainless steel backpacking cook kit, flash light, whistle, 300' of para cord, two rolls of tarred line, compass, three bandannas, two 50 gal trash bags, wetfire tender, candle lantern w/3 candles. one #5 & one #10 sealine dry bags, shammy towel, hand & dish soap, heat sheet, 12 cotton candles, needle nose vice grips,.22 pistol, 20 snares, 12 carabiners, three bungee cords, cable ties, hydration bladder, two days of food and a change of clothes. Add that with the first aid, water bottle, & fire kit pouches and I have a great system & weighs about 32 pounds (with no water in bladder). As you can see this pack holds quite a bit. I keep hearing people say that this is a "DAY" pack. I can tell you that if it is set up right it can be more than a day pack. The pack is well made and is comfortable, for people with normal or short torso's. If you have a long torso the waist belt will not take the weight of the pack off of your shoulders and makes the pack unbearable after a short time (if you are over 6'tall, this may not be the pack you want). The pack has molly loops all over it making it easy to attach most pouches & accessories. The pack is not water proof, you do get some moisture making its way through the zippers (reason for the 4 stars), but it is a minimal amount. The nylon sheds water well and so far my gear has stayed dry. (I always put a dry bag in at the top of the bag to help keep the moisture from the zippers away from the rest of the gear). The longest trip I have done with this set up is 6 days, I added a ultra light sleeping bag, and another set of cloths to the pack for that trip. It so far I am pleased with the performance of this pack. Over all this pack is a great base for my system. UPDATE: I Have given this pack to the wife and she loves it, and I have to admit that is seems to fit her better than it did me. It was for the most part comfortable, but the longer I had it the less I liked the fit. It seems that maybe 5'10" is at the tall end of this bag. I still stand behind the construction, it is a great pack.

New GOD Bag
Study and well constructed bag. I carry a maxpedition gearslinger daily with the essentials and have been looking for a backpack style go bog that distributes the weight across my entire back and has a little more capacity and functionality. I dumped my old trunk go bag which was a old medium rucksack style bag and put the contents and more in this bag. I just bought a Baja Dry Sack by SealLine 10 bag and it fits fine inside the Condor II with a change of clothes (less pants) and a 6x8 lightweight wool blanket. 2 Mountain house entrees and a breakfeast. Holds my Esbit 3-Piece Cook set and mcnett tactical towel. There is still enough room for 32oz water bottle inside. Outer pockets have duct tape, a field repair kit flint and steel with firestarters in a Altoid tin, 100ft parachord, 2 heavy duty contractor bags rolled, compass, notepad, Isreali bandage, sas survival handbook, playing cards and a Heavy duty thermal blanket (Olive drab on one side - Mylar on the other) in the hydration pouch. The 5.11 6x6 and first aid pouches fit under large compartment zippers on the molle system. They are currently on my gearslinger but can be switched over quickly. Plenty of molle leftover for the Gerber and flashlight pouches on my gearslinger to be moved over as well. I haven't used the straps on the bottom but have been looking for a tarp and sleeping bag pad to put underneath. The interior slit pouch has a contour map of each of the 3 regions i visit most frequently in a ziplock. The waist belt and chest belt work just fine. They are not designed to transfer the weight, however they are designed to keep the bag from shifting. They do this just fine. The waist belt is high enough that it doesnt hamper my draw capability. I have seen reviews describing the side straps as compression. They are not designed for this. I use the straps to help keep my hatchet handle tight to the bag and unshifting. The other straps keep my folding saw from shifting around on the opposite side. Id say I only have it loaded to ...30 maybe 35lbs. The shoulder strap system isnt designed for 50+lbs nor should it be. You need a frame backback if you want a tent, 3 changes of clothes etc. I did have to return my first bag because the handle stitching had a flaw in it and created a larger hole the bag material than i expected, I suspected it was just where the stitching machine severed the nylon weave creating a hole. Not major but i exchanged it because i in part wanted to see if it was an abnormality or standard and didn't want the bag to start off with a weak point. Got the next bag from amazon and concluded it was just a abnormality. So much so i have 2 Condors now, foliage and kahki. Well my son has the kahki but im claiming both. Update - the bottle pouches from maxpedition are expensive but have tog get a bottle holder or something for my nagaline 32oz and metal cup it nests in. Hydration bladders are fine but you cant boil out pathogens is something plastic. The ezbit 3 piece stove does have a cup 16oz. Keep hydration capacity and refilling in mind when outfitting.

Small but so perfect.
First and foremost, this is the best backpack I've EVER owned. I've probly gone through one a year for the past 8 year. Always cheap $50 bags or so. I finally caught this one at a good price after watching it for years, and I just had to get it. It is incredibly tough, with a great structural design to it. All the straps are heavy duty and the buckles seem like great quality. It's a bit smaller than I imagined. But I'm glad about that. It's the perfect size for a day pack, get yourself some attachments, and you easily got a 3 day pack. I was real close to taking it on a 7 day backpacking trip, but unfortunately couldn't afford the extra pouches in time. I've been excited to carry this bag as my edc, but also for day hikes. If you're looking for the toughest, baddest backpack on the planet, look no more.

I just want to take this bag with me everwhere
This bag is better than I expected. I love it so much that I almost try to find reasons to bring it with me. Some use it for camping, some as a bug out bag. I want to use it for everything lol. There is so much room for molle attachments, you can easily over do it and load the bag up with more than you need. The quality is solid as expected and I'm loving the foliage green. The only down side might be the colour choice. OD green, black and camo are extremely popular in molly attachments so if you are looking to accessorize with products from other manufacturers, you'll need to keep your colour choice in mind, Personally, I don't mind some variation in colours. Camo seems to go well with it.

Expensive, but well worth the money!!
review for Maxpedition Condor II ========================================================= pros: molle/pal web strapping to attach molle/pal attachments, compression straps, chest and waist straps, hidden hydration pack area, with ports/covering for mouth tube, excellent stitching and construction, separate front compartments. cons: expensive. bottom line: Yes it costs a lot, but in this case, you do get a premium, excellent rugged backpack. ========================================================= The Condor II is a very expensive rucksack, and the high price had me umming ar arring for quite a while before I took the plunge. My previous rucksack was a swiss gear wenger, whilst not as expensive as the maxpedition, was still dearer than the run of the mill rucksacks. One of downsides of the wenger was, when packed with a lot,it fills out sticking outwards, so the my old backpack bulged out when packed with a lot - made me look like I was carrying the kitchen sink with me! The maxpedition doesn't suffer this unfortunate problem, the compression straps along the sides and top which means the pack remains compact even when stuffed to the seams. With the top y compression straps though annoyingly you have to open them to open the zips to the two front outer compartments, so I only use the top compression straps when I need to. Otherwise the pack compacts down very well. So do you really get what you pay for? Having used the rucksack now for a couple of months I am very impressed with it. While still on the expensive side, the stitching, construction, and detail just show through. If in your normal usage if you batter your rucksack and take it through rough weather, you’ll be glad if you went for the condor - sure there are quite a few cheaper brands - one I was close to buying was the slightly larger 36L Miltec Molle rucksack at a fraction of the cost of this one, but do you get the same quality? In the end I was not sure if the cheaper brands would stand up to the rigours of my daily use (abuse!), and am glad I went for the maxpedition condor. This rucksack is in the large end of the medium sized class and packs very well. With two generous outer compartments, and a main compartments, as well as the hidden section at the back built for a 3L hyrdation pack - the rucksack comes built in with tube ports to allow a drinking tube through it, with a velcro covering for the ports when not in use. Although i hadn't initially intended to use the water compartment to part to carry water, am now impressed enough to look for a 3L camelbak antidote reservoir, which is said to fit well on this backpack. One of the reasons I was drawn to the condor was the size - its more compact than some of its other models like the maxpedition falcon, whilst the falcon is a bit bigger and zips open flat, it would bulge out to the back, whilst this pack out to the sides - which you can batten down with the compression straps. Also of course this has lots of pal/molle webbing. With the webbing I have already attached a small molle pouch to the back and large water bottle molle pouch on the side which holds a 1.5L volvic water bottle. Of course these and other molle attachments are optional extras you purchase separately should you need them. The back padding is soft and well ventilated and, with well padded, curved shoulder straps and chest support, this pack remains comfortable even when it’s stuffed to capacity and full of external attachments. I initially didn't think I would use the chest or waist straps, but with it being so comfortable, I do tend to use the chest straps from time to time, and the pack in general is very comfortable on the shoulders even when fully loaded. I didn't realise the backpack comes in two versions, one with a black rubberised bottom and one with the same material all the way round the bag. I bought the rucksack direct from Amazon and it came with black rubberised bottom - you don't actually notice it unless you turn it upside down to look, but I prefer the rubberised bottom, less likely to slide around? At the time I purchased this (Jan 2015 it was £110) , but the price seems to vary from month to month buying direct from Amazon, but for what you're getting, its a very good purchase.

Excellent Product
I've reviewed a number of different packs and when it comes to quality & durability, you can't beat Maxpedition products. When camping in back country reliability & functionality are crucial. Due to the size of the pack (approx. 25L) I find it best for day trips & overnights only.
