Durable, attractive, intelligently designed.
This bag is striking to look at, with a really nice merlot color. That's a silly point, but I really like it. It's a huge pack, and yeah, you can remove the summit pack, but it's clearly intended to be a huge pack. And it's got a great suspension system that is far more advanced than my rucksack offers. The 'pivot' concept is not a gimmick. It does make it easier to walk in the pack. While I'm a large 6'00 male, I was able to adjust the pack to fit me. It should fit most females, and my wife found it very easy to adjust. Thanks to another review I see that Thule offers help in getting the straps sized properly, and that helped her. The material is medium in weight, but feels very durable. Your stuff will be protected from water and moderate impacts, but this isn't a military grade protection. The benefit is that the bag isn't heavy. The back does offer some good support and breathability. I'm particularly jealous of the pockets in front of the hips, which are perfect for a phone, a snack, or whatever you might access on a long walk. Even though it says "WOMEN'S FIT" on the side I'm strongly inclined to just use it myself. It's very comfortable to use, and the way the bag twists makes it easier for me to walk with stability, even with a ankle that isn't fully healed from a sprain. In short, this is a very high quality pack, it looks like one, and it's priced like one. More importantly, it feels like one when you're in the middle of a long hike. They clearly spent a lot of time designing this one.

I love my gear and am total sucker for backpacks and duffel bags. I travel regularly and therefore I’m always looking for just the right solution to meet my needs. I have used Thule products for many years as I am a cyclist and skier who travels with gear. While most of my experience with Thule has been with their car racks, I’ve been eager to try their backpacking solutions as many of my friends have spoken highly of them. I got this bag for a recent 4-day camping trip to Zions National Park that required a moderate amount of gear. This 65 Liter bag caught my attention because of its size and storing options. Fit and Finish: This bag is made from durable nylon and zippers are durable and high quality. Most of the zippers have a flap protecting them from rain or dirt or a water resistant seal. A rain cover stowed in the back pocket protects against any weather you might encounter. There are so many options for adjusting the width and height of the straps and once you customize to your size the pack feels like it is an appendage. I was impressed at how comfortably it fit to my body. The pivoting hip belt is incredible and allows the bag to conform to your body movements. With vertical and horizontal compression straps the pack can be a compact, firm package. Volume/Loading/Access: You can fit a fair amount of stuff in this bag for a week’s excursion. Once loaded, the main compartment is relatively easy to access as there is a side panel zipper access. This is such a great feature and is a requirement of mine when shopping for packs. This style, where the zipper runs down the side and across the front of the bag, allows for the largest opening and ease of access to the compartment. There are enough pockets on bag for small items, toiletries, cell phone, keys, or whatever else you carry with you and don’t want loose inside the bag. The zippered hip pockets are a great place to store phones/cameras so you can access them on the go. The main compartment is open, so you can be as organized or disorganized as you like. At the base of the pack is an optional sectioned off “sleeping bag” compartment which can be separate from the main compartment. This space also works well for storing dirty shoes if you don’t want them dangling from your pack. Finally, there is a water reservoir sleeve in the main compartment and a removable lid that converts to a day pack. I have traveled without the lid/day pack. Because of the waterproof roll top lid with a toggle stop, gear inside the pack is protected without the lid. Conclusion: This is a great pack; anyone interested in purchasing should check out Thule’s website for a very detailed showing and description of this pack. A plethora of information is provided with purchase of the pack, including an information sheet, a Thule brand video, Product Guide, Testing video and Product Video. The quality is high-end and I expect this bag will survive a lot of trips and abuse.

Excellent – Lots of Adjustability & Storage
I am an occasional backpacker (maybe 3x/year). I took this pack on an overnight trip to see how well it will work before committing it to a longer trek. I had lots of extra room since it was only overnight. It rained pretty hard on the hike home & the included rain cover kept the pack dry. The pack was very comfortable & I feel confident it will work well for a longer trek. - The straps, belts, fabric, zippers, etc. are all heavy duty. I think this pack will be very durable. It is a bit heavier than my other pack but not uncomfortably heavy. This pack will be excellent for rugged use. - Plenty of room - Perfect for overnight backpacking trips & longer. -Pretty good ventilation – the back panel does allow some air flow/separation but I was hot & sweaty on our humid hike. -Removable rain cover that fits & keeps the pack dry – it rained pretty hard. The cover is a high-visibility, bright orange on this backpack. Handy label “RAIN COVER” is on the outside so you can get to it fast. -Lots of compartments for organization & quick access. Being organized is really important. It also helps to practice at home or on a short hike. Hike with cargo so you can practice getting things in/out of your pack quickly & figuring out the best place to stash things in the pack for your style/needs on a longer trek. -The lid comes off & can become a daypack. It’s not hard to do but it is a little fiddly until you get used to it. -Lots of adjustability. The shoulder strap can be adjusted to 3 different widths. The torso has up to 6” of adjustability. I am 5’3”, 114 pounds, petite frame & I can get this to fit comfortably. I also tried it on a bigger friend (5’7”, 145 pounds) & she could also wear it comfortably. **Make sure to measure your hips, torso & neck (NOT your height) so that you adjust the shoulder straps & torso length for your body. This makes a very big difference in comfort/back pain. Thule has guidance on their website or go online for videos about the correct way to fit a backpack. Practice at home with a full pack so you KNOW that it will be comfortable.

Very happy with this solid pack
I got this pack to take on vacation as an option to a suitcase so I could keep my hands free. It seems really well made and the fabric is really solid. What originally sold me on it was the adjustability. I have a larger waist, short back and wide shoulders...not an easy shape to fit. Between the adjustable back length, large adjustability in the hip belt and the fact that the shoulder straps can be set wider, I had no problem getting comfortable. The hip belt is solid and I like the pockets and the pivoting...I don't feel like I'm strapped to a backboard! The shoulder straps are comfortable and squishy and the seams are placed on top so they don't rub. The J-shaped zip makes things easy to get at in the main compartment and it even has a zip to get in to the stuff-it pocket. The convertible lid pack is awesome and surprisingly big. I will be using it as my carry-on and day bag. It easily fits my 15" laptop and other things in the main compartment and it has a roomy outer pocket with a hidden zippered pocket on the inside easily big enough to hide my phone or other valuables. The lid pack doesn't have water bottle pockets but I attached carabeners to water bottles and put them on the shoulder straps and problem solved. I think this backpack will easily last for many years and I'm happy I got it. I also picked up a cheap folding duffel bag for when it gets checked into the plane's cargo hold to protect the straps.

It's Thule! Can't go wrong with this.
Very very well made. Durable, and has the extra bag that is the lid.

Verschluss direkt kaputt

Full of neat comforts that will come in handy
The media could not be loaded. When I was younger I did some major hiking but back then all we had were metal framed nylon packs that weighed a tonne and wedged themselves in my back. Boy do I wish they had something like this pack back then! First thing that strikes me about this pack is that it's really attractive! Gone are the days of Coleman green backpacks made with men in mind. I love the burgundy color of this pack but I have a stern dislike for the high visibility orange that colors the rain cover and summit pack. A girl can't have everything, I guess. The second thing that sticks out about this pack is the versatility of the harness adjustments. The shoulder width of the arm straps has 3 adjustments, S,M and L. However the height adjustment is more of a long sliding scale and has more variance. The product info boasts 270 different adjustment combinations which may be true but not apparent to me on initial use and I'm no mathematician. There is one special accessory pouch included that can be removed and replaced with one of three other accessories you can purchase separately. The accessory pouch is made like a water proof pouch that folds several times before you seal it. Of note, it's also padded which is a great idea if you're carrying your smart phone in it. There is another smaller, non-removable pouch on the opposite side of the waist band. All zippers seem to be of high quality and water proof with an extra layer of rubber material insulating them. There's an abundance of ties and loops which can be used for a hydration system and headphones if you like. There's also several clipped straps that can be loosened to hold your bed roll, tent, or other large additions. These same straps can be cinched tight to compress the pack when you're traveling without additions. The waist band is adjustable to great lengths, which means plus sized hikers like myself can use this pack with ease. The summit pack is kind of a neat addition. I can think of a few expeditions I've been on in the past that it would have been useful on. One of the things I show in my attached video how to make the summit pack from the pack top cover. I didn't have any real trouble figuring it out. I found this pack immensely comfortable to wear. I never gave much thought to the pivoting waist belt but wow, I can really feel the difference. It took me two tries to get all the adjustments in the harness correct for my build; it's definitely something you will want to play with before your outing. There are some amazing and impressive things about this pack but not without some trade offs. This pack is expensive and heavy. 5.1 pounds is nothing for a quick jaunt but if you're making a serious hike, this is one of the heaviest packs available on the market today. I've been out of the loop too long to be able to say for sure that I would buy this pack for myself over other lighter, less expensive ones but the features of this pack are plenty and may be worth it to you as an individual and the only way to know for sure is to see it and try it. So, take a look at my short video where I show you around this pack a little bit. I hope it helps to see it first hand, enjoy!

High quality, very customizable
This is a highly customizable backpack that would be suitable for long treks in and out of the city. There are some pretty cool features including the detachable summit pack which doubles as a waterproof cover to the main compartment. The 65L capacity is cavernous - you could easily fit a week's worth of supplies in here. There are several compartments on the inside for dividing your cargo. The coolest feature to me is the detachable waterproof roll top compartment on the left side of the hip belt. You can interchange it with other accessories (not included with the backpack) depending on your needs. There is a power pocket in the top of the bag with cable management so you can run a cable from a portable battery to the roll top compartment for your phone. Keeps your phone charging while you're hiking. There is also an integrated waterproof cover which can easily be deployed during a downpour. All the zippers are covered with fabric, which makes it seem like it would keep a lot of water from getting in to the bag if it rained. There are several compression straps on both sides of the bag, so if you're not filling it up all the way your contents aren't shifting around. When you first lift up the bag it feels quite heavy, but once it's on its quite light. It's quite comfortable to wear, as well, which lightens to load. All the straps are adjustable which makes the bag very comfortable. This is my third Thule bag and I have yet to be disappointed with a single one. The quality is extremely high and it feels like it would last a long time.
