Review pasted in comments very helpful with assembly!
Review with this title included very helpful tips for assembly! Overall, good for price (this review includes written tips for assembly) So, I want to preface my review by saying that (by no fault of the manufacturer,) my storage drawers are damaged. The delivery driver delivered it to the wrong house and it was left outside in the rain, box, shipping label ruined and parts of the product as well. Because I couldn’t return it without the label and what-not, I was issued a refund, but decided to put it together anyway because- well, I didn’t know what else to do with it If I couldn’t return. Anyway, because I basically got a free functioning product and I feel bad about it, I will do you a service by offering some assembly tips for you :) Instructions are pictures only, and that would be okay if they were a little more detailed, maybe closer up and labeled better. I had a bit of trouble figuring out the orientation of some of the smaller bits and pieces on this piece of furniture. Also, for some reason I was given one screw that was not the same length as all the others (pictured)? I used it anyway because it was the same diameter and it wasn’t a structural screw, just one for the drawer hardware, so I figured it’s not a huge deal. It took me (21 y/o female) about 3 hours to put together, and my hands were very sore from all the screwing afterwards (I recommend using an electric screwdriver or a drill on very low speed and torque, as particle board tends to split with too much force). I’m going to go through the steps of the instructions and add some much-needed detail for you now. 1) step one was pretty straight-foward; attach all of the m and n pieces to pieces b and c (respectively). One tip here is to make sure you have m and n on the correct sides, as none are labeled. What you want is for the end of the bar with the wheel to be in the front of the side, and with the wheel in the lower position. 2) this step is where it got a bit tricky for the pictures. There are about 3-4 things to do in this step and it was a bit unclear what should be done first. I recommend first attaching the V (lg cam lock screws) and Q2 (large dowels) To piece A first, then placing the large cam locks into the sides. Then, slide piece A into the top, lock the cam locks, and slide the back piece in afterwards. The instructions show the back piece sliding from the top, but I found it much easier to slide it in from the bottom after the top was secure. 3) the easiest step, first attach the remaining large dowels to piece D, push it into the side pieces and screw the long screws through the bottom. 4) very straight-foward, attaching the casters. One thing that was a bit frustrating here was that the holes for the screws weren’t drilled in even a quarter of the length of the screw, so it took a bit of force to get the screw to bite and start to go into the wood. This was the only part of this product where the holes were done like this. 5) the most tedious step, and also has many moving parts. The order I recommend doing it in; put together the sides and back of all the drawers with the labeled pieces, then slide in the bottoms of all the drawers. Attach the small dowels and cam screws to the drawer fronts, then add the cam locks, push the drawer fronts on and lock the cams. I tried a few other orders, for other drawers, but this was definitely the most efficient. I found at this step that some of the pre-drilled holes weren’t exactly lining up properly for the bottom of the drawer to go in, so I recommend not screwing the side pieces completely tight until you have the bottom completely pushed in, then tightening it around the bottom piece. I also noticed that there were some discrepancies in the pictures provided for this step, the pieces don’t look exactly like what is given. For this, you want your sides to be oriented where the slot for the bottom is on the bottom, the two holes are in the back and the hole for the cam lock is in the front top. Attaching the drawer wheels was very simple and straight-forward. I hope this was helpful to anyone that was slightly confused by the picture-only instructions :) Verified Purchase Good for nail polish storage ...polish. Fits all brands of gel polish that I own. It took about 2 hours to put together. You only really need a screwdriver but hammer or screw gun may help to make faster. I see what others have said about the gap in back of drawers. Verified Purchase Lots of assembly The product looks clean when put together but it took quite a while to assemble. Drawers are a little smaller than I was expecting BF Verified Purchase need buy It is very good for some small storage, easy to put it together, looks very nice. I gave 4 stars only as it is a good drawer for a small thing to store. Otherwise, I like it. Verified Purchase Easy to assemble I like that it was easy to put together. I don’t like that I can’t open the drawers all the way. I wish the space was a little wider but regardless I really like it for what I needed it. Verified Purchase Great quality! Looks nice This thing takes forever to put together but if you use all the pieces and follow the instructions, you’re going to have a very sturdy and good looking set of drawers. Read other reviews that mention put together easy to assemble putting it together took me about 2 hours particle board looks great craft room ikea alex easy to put wood glue poor quality highly recommend worth the money cheaply made nothing is labeled parts are labeled piece of furniture instructions are not clear hard to assemble time consuming See more Verified Purchase Hard to put toegther We put this together it was really hard we think we did something wrong because the drawers on the top stick out but worth the money Verified Purchase Pretty Good!!! ...the item against a stable piece of furniture to have another "set of hands." I put one entire drawer together and tested it before assembling all of the drawers. That was a good idea, because I knew that I had put one together correctly before... Verified Purchase DONT LISTEN TO BAD REVIEWS ...the $70 I paid I love this. It is not at ALL flimsy. I truly think people just don’t know how to screw things together. Secondly ALL of the pieces ARE labeled. They were printed on the raw edges of the wood not stickers like most other furniture. Verified Purchase Good for money - Great for a dorm. READ TIPS in comments before buying/assembling ...as a high-end piece of furniture, you'll be satisfied. I am not handy. I put this together with a screwdriver (no drill) all by myself. Tips below: -Before starting, find way to divide each and every component. Verified Purchase Forget alll the other reviews, read this straight forward one ...a 23 year old woman and I've never built anything in my life. I was able to put this thing together in a few hours with little to no help. There is a lot of pieces, so it is sort of timely (hence, it took a few hours). Verified Purchase Long process to put together Paperboard set up, kind of long to put together, I added a person and a drill to make it faster, I wouldn’t hand tighten everything it will take you forever and some things are rigid and hard to fit Verified Purchase Perfect for the job ...After reading the reviews I decided to take a chance. It did take a while to put together but it wasn’t that bad. The drawers took the longest to put together. Overall satisfied with purchase. Verified Purchase Great for the price. Lots of storage for my craft room. ...that could use a touch-up pen, but it's very minor. It was fairly easy to put together, although it did take some time. It took me about 45 minutes to put together the case and another hour to put together the drawers. Nothing difficult... Verified Purchase Great storage drawer! I purchased this in 2019 and it is still in tact to this day. It was fairly easy to put together and looks very cute in my roo

Doesn't hold as much as you might think
INTRO I bought this because I am desperate for storage space for cables, various pieces and parts and other "project" type stuff. I got this specific unit because it matches the 5-drawer unit I got to go under my desk. It was 15% off the list price of $170, and I paid $144.50 per unit. I got two units. I also got the 5-drawer and 5-drawer with cabinet units: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006WYUQDY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K9F7XYC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details PRICING: I think the price is very high for what you get. You get a 7-drawer unit for $145. The 5-drawer units (that are basically the same, but with 5 drawers) are only $78. So you're paying quite the premium for those two extras drawers and a little more height (width and depth are the same). I'm not going to bother sending these back, but if I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't buy them at this price. $100 is more reasonable for these. Anyway - aside from that...quality is OK. Tolerances are a little loose - so things are not lined up perfectly. There's a bit too much spacing/slop in the drawers for my taste - but it's OK at $100/unit. At $145/unit, it's pretty bad. GENERAL COMMENTS: The drawers are shallow height, and shallow depth (compared to the cabinet) so they hold a lot less than you probably want. They also doesn't hold anything with much height, such as a small 3 oz can of spray paint, which is a real bummer. So for arts & crafts and projects like that, these drawers are probably not ideal. For holding 8.5" x 11" papers in two stacks side by side, they won't work. For storage of things like computer cables, various electronics gadgets, pencils and staplers and office kinds of things, they're OK. This unit is a rolling unit. The wheels are cheap plastic, but it rolls OK on my hardwood floor. Would probably suck on carpet. To my surprise and delight, I discovered that the wheels do have "locks" on them, so you can lock it into position to keep it from moving. Handy if you wanted to use the surface for a work table or something. The drawers slide OK for what they are. They don't really "lock in" so they will want to slide out if you roll the unit around much. This unit could be greatly improved if the drawers had better retention, so you had to more actively slide them out, with a little effort. You could probably paint this unit if you wanted to. Would be kind of a PITA. I'd recommend scuffing the entire surface to be painted, for better adhesion. I would also recommend doing it before assembly, and using a sprayer or roller, rather than a paint brush. Unit could use a handle on the front, so give you something to grab on to when rolling it. Side would work, but for my use case, front would be better since it is under my desk facing forward. I will probably acquire a handle and install it when I get some time. IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED: First, the drawers for all of these Winsome Halifax Storage/Organization pieces are shorter than the cabinets. There is room in the cabinets to make the drawers another 2" deeper (toward the wall), but they don't do so. I don't understand why. Either make the drawer deeper or the cabinet shorter. Secondly, the width of these drawer units should be a little wider, so they can handle two reams of paper side by side. As it is, you can put one ream of paper in, and then have space on one side of it that isn't useful for much. I'd love to be able to put in a second ream of paper, or even stack standard size printouts side by side. The product would be so much better if they just added a few inches to the unit's width. Third, the drawers need some "retention" so they snap closed and don't open when you roll the units. The drawers would be more useful if they had a little more height, so you could store slightly larger things in them. They are 3.75" high and should be more like 4.5" high (or even 5"). BUILDING THE UNITS: As an experienced DIY person, this took me two hours to build because the instructions SUCK! They're the typical "no words, only pictures" type of instructions. Plus, nothing was labeled. In the pictures, they show part "A" or "B" or whatever, but the pieces themselves are not labeled. You have to keep referring back to the parts list and figure out which part is which. Even pre-sorting the stuff doesn't help much. The biggest issue was that in the very first step, the picture shows one thing, but then they show a measurement to go by. The information conflicts. What are you supposed to do? Here's a hint. Ignore the whole "16mm" thing entirely. Just do what the PICTURE shows, which is using the SECOND HOLE on the metal part on the front. It won't come out to 16mm from the front of the cabinet, but that's OK. They should just delete the "16 mm" part because all it does is add confusion. For the reason above - I ended up skipping this part of the instructions and went to building the drawers first. I was meticulous about recording the time I spent to build these two units. Keep in mind to that I had previous experience building the 5-drawer unit yesterday, so I pretty much already knew what I was doing here, AND I was specifically trying to go fast. You're going to be slower if you haven't built one of these and/or are going at a more relaxed pace. The time breaks down like this (all times are for TWO units): 1). Unbox/unpack, sort out all parts, separate the drawer guides, open hardware, throw away all packaging and boxes to the trash outside: 37 minutes 2). Skipped to step 5 and build all 14 drawers, including attaching glides: 53 minutes. 3). Attach glides to cabinet sides: 12 minutes 4). Build both cabinets, attach the wheels and insert the drawers: 35 minutes Overall, both units took me 137 minutes to unbox and build to completion. That's 2h17m, or about 1 hour and 9 minutes per unit. It took me about 2 hours to build the 5-drawer unit yesterday, so you can see the difference having some experience with these makes.

You get what you pay for
I waited on this item for awhile because I wanted to do more research on it and ok similar products. I needed a drawer organizer and this was the best I was gonna get for the budget I have. Yes the drawers are short/shallow but that’s what I wanted because that’s less room for junk/random things (thinking positively). Yes they do not pull out all the way therefore you are not able to have easy access getting to the back of the drawer. It sucks but I read it in other reviews and decided I was fine with it. Assembly was super easy! I read a couple of reviews saying it took them 3 hours to assemble…it took me 1.5 hours at the most and that’s with screwing a couple things in wrong and having to redo it. If you can follow basic picture instructions you’re fine..you’d be surprised at the amount of people who cannot. I think it’s worth it and it’s aesthetically pleasing to look at with dark wood floors and a white desk.

Not the easiest to assemble
It took me two days after work to assemble this item. I don’t mind, but the assembly is quite in depth with nothing coming attached. I shared my progress with some woodworkers I know and they were quite surprised at the level of skill that this took in assembling. If you have the time and enjoy details, this is fantastic. I just wish I had waited until the weekend to start it. There wasn’t an estimate of the time involved that I could fine, but I would say that going slowly and carefully, this took me between 4 and 5 hours.

One drawer came damaged
Looks exactly as advertised. Functional as needed. One drawer is damaged when received. Unfortunately it was the last drawer that I assembled. Assembly is easy but it is lots of work. By the time I discovered the last drawer being damaged, I put out together with some gorilla glue, and just sucked it up as I couldn't be bothered to have to go through an install again at the time. I don't use that drawer functionally. I just put misc things in it that I don't use often.

It works, is practical, is unattractive, and gratuitously wastes space
I needed a 16" deep side-desk arrangement in my home office with a maple top that would not be too different in height from my 28-1/4" desk. This was to bear my scanner and printer and was to have lots of drawer space for office consumables and computer-related bits and pieces. I searched everywhere and could find nothing. Eventually, I found this Winsome product on Amazon. It is too low by about 2 inches. My decision was to buy two, put them side-by-side, and lay a 48" by 16" maple veneer slab over them. I could not find a suitable slab and bought the slab in a 10" and 6" width, laying the two lengths next to each other. This has now given me the basic arrangement I was looking for. It is still quite a bit lower than the desk, but I shall live with that. The assembly was straightforward. The initial assembly instruction pages label each item, and the subsequent drawings use those labels on the components to guide the assembly. The assembly of ten drawers for two cabinet units was soul deadening, to say the least. It is also clear why they provided two extra cam fasteners of each of the two gauges. Those things are amazingly fragile and I managed to twist one big one to oblivion. If one is going to assemble these with an electric driver, whether battery driven or not, the clutch should be set to around 30-35% of the torque range. I used a 20V Ryobi driver set to 5 to 5.5 on a torque scale of 15. I set out every drawer's components in a separate heap in order to keep my head. Assembling the cabinet frame was simple; keeping one's head through the assembly process of ten drawers is a challenge. The little corner brackets are important in keeping the frame rigid. An important design aspect is the fact that the slider arrangement is metal. Every single polymer/plastic version of such arrangements I have ever owned has broken into multiple pieces. They just cannot handle the strains and stresses. I know folks complain about the fact that the drawers do not open wider, but that would have required more expensive double slider arrangements. Those may be found in, for example IKEA products, but at higher cost and NOT, repeat NOT, 16". IKEA have discontinued their 16" range of stuff for reasons only they know. The drawers have a "depth" (their extent in the horizontal into the cabinet) of only 12-3/4", while the depth of the cabinet is 16". So, YES, the design is wasting 3-1/4" of potential drawer space at the back. However, folks should realise that they would have been putting stuff in there, and stuff ads weight, and that weight would have been acting down on the front end of the drawer when pulled out. The force on the upper rear lip of the slider track and on the wheel axle of the drawer would have been rather big. This is also why folks should not complain about the single slider arrangement limiting how far the drawers get pulled out. If it pulled out further, these forces would be increased proportionately. The drawers will pull out around 8" to a first stop; then to 8-1/2 inches at a stopped detent position, which one gets to by lifting the drawer just a tad from the first stop and pulling it out LIGHTLY to the stopped detent position. Any attempt to pull it out further will cause it to come undone and sag down. This last effort should rather be seen as part of the removal of the drawer. The removability without disassembly is a useful trait in itself; one can arrange a drawer and then put it in the cabinet. The gap to access the interior of the drawer is 7-3/8" in the first stop position, and 7-7/8" in the stopped detent position. Of course, one could just lift out the entire drawer if one needed more access. The clearance height of a drawer, between the floor of the drawer and the front edge of the drawer or frame immediately above it is 3-3/4". This pretty much gives the height of the stuff that can be put in the drawer (as long as the drawer is not being removed). To the extent that I wanted to use this system to store as much small stuff as possible, this is an awkward height: not high enough for a lot of things and yet too high for most dividing systems I can find. I found a lot of 1-7/8" internal dividers at the Dollar Store, but pretty much nothing just under 3-3/4". So, the system is wasting me half of the vertical space for lack of an accompanying divider system. My search for a practical divider system continues. >>NOTE: since writing the above, I found the Essentials brand "fridge storage bin" at the Dollar Tree store. These are 11.5" deep, 3.815" wide and a beautiful 3.5" high. They fit just great, leaving 1/2 an inch of forward and backward wiggle room. I use them for storing various USB cables and gizmos.<< As to weight inside the drawers, I would be careful. It is but humble cardboard and will sag over time. Try not to put much weight near the middle of the drawers. Weightier things should be at the back, and near the edge. I would agree with the person who said that 5lbs might be a good maximum weight spread over a single drawer. Remember, paper is heavy; so are batteries. The lack of handles certainly reduces the appeal, and the cutaway "handle" arrangement makes the unit look like basement cabinetry, the cutaways being rather overwhelming. Bluntly put, it really does not look good for the use I am putting it to, but I could not find anything suitable elsewhere. Yet it does the job; but it does rather waste space.

Finicky Instructions, Great Product
Good value for your money, sturdy, and good looking drawer (IKEA Alex Dupe) - see photo of constructed drawer next to my IKEA Alex drawer system. Only complaint about this product is that none of the individual parts are labelled, which can look/feel overwhelming at the beginning as there are so many parts. Nonetheless, I (a small 25 year old women) had no issues constructing it by myself with the help of a power-drill. When building this, it’s best to lay out all the individual parts & to allot about 2 hours for the build. Overall, the product looks great & is the perfect size. Not too big, not too small. Would be great for storing small items such as cosmetics, art supplies, tools, etc.
