best pump on the market!
This pump will work for years! Install and forget about it!

Installs easily, works well, but runs loud
I had a nearly 50 year old 1/2HP deep well pump go bad. Replaced it with a Lowes brand Utilitech 1/2HP pump. That lasted 3-1/2 years. Purchased the same identical one (in a hurry when you lose water to your house) and replaced it. It would only build pressure to 33psi, with a 40psi cutoff. Finally did some research and this seemed like the pump with the best overall comments, and a reasonable price. It has all of the same fittings as the old pump so installation was easy. However, the pressure switch is mounted on the opposite side, and for me, the pressure switch on this Wayne pump is right up against the crawl space wall. So I had to wire it up first, and then rotate it and install it. If it ever goes bad, I'll probably just disconnect the wiring and install a new pressure switch somewhere else in the output water line. Otherwise, that will be a pain. I wish this Wayne pump had a port on either side to switch where the pressure switch could go. After getting it installed, it built pressure and eventually (it took awhile), it cutoff at 50psi as expected. That is a nice bonus, as the 20-40psi of our old pump and switch was just too low. Much nicer now! From cut-on to cut-off, it takes about 3 minutes if no water is running. Not too bad. The only other real issue I have with this pump is it is loud. Much louder than our previous one. Granted, this is putting out double the horsepower. But, maybe adding some noise isolation components would be nice, like rubber grommets or washers in various places internally to kill the sound and vibration? Currently it is mounted to a steel L-bracket against the crawl space wall (just like the others), so I am going to try to slide some rubber washers in between the mount and the motor mount and see if that helps. Oh, and I should also mention I didn't use any other components; the original foot valve, etc. in the well are all the same... Overall, a good pump that does indeed work as advertised.

Great Jet Pump
This Wayne 1/2 horsepower pump installed easily and works great. I like the fact that the pressure switch is not adjustable, because the water pressure it puts out is quite high and not having to adjust it makes things easier. Surprising that it was just $225, a great value, and seems well made and likely to give many years of service. The very old pump I was replacing was of the same type so I was able to reuse some of the piping. I removed the back cover of the motor per the instructions and switched it over from 110 to 220 volts and connected the wires from the old pump. I am using the deep well configuration with the jet in the well and two pipes going down. I am using black plastic water service line for that which came from the old pump. My well is only 35 feet deep and the water is 17 feet from the surface and probably draws down to 20 or a little more feet. For a well of this type theoretically you may be able to use shallow well single pipe configuration, but I think the two pipe system is safe and less likely to lose suction. This Wayne is putting out 50 psi which is more than adequate for household uses and irrigating the garden with a sprinkler.

Test before installing!
Had a less than satisfying experience with the shipping of this item. It is probably not a good idea to use amazon's free shipping with an item of this size. It was shipped Fedex Smartpost and took an extra week to be delivered due to being initially sent to the wrong post office. Once delivered, the outer package looked as if it had been hit by a truck. Inner packaging was decent, however, and the pump did not appear to be damaged in shipment. The installation of the pump did not go as smooth as I had hoped as well. Plumbing the pump up and connecting it to my water lines was the easy part, I didn't have much difficulty at all and I didn't any problems priming the pump as had been described in other reviews. I was replacing an existing pump, and didn't have to replace the foot valve and jet assembly, so it only took around a gallon of water to fully prime the pump. Once the plumbing was complete, however, my fun was just getting started. When I applied power to the pump motor, I was rewarded with a hum from the motor followed by a tripped breaker. I could turn the motor by hand but could feel significant resistance. I unbolted the motor from the pump housing, assuming that the pump was the likely culprit, but found that I had similar results with the pump & motor uncoupled. Ultimately, I discovered that one of the four bolts at the back of the motor housing was completely stripped. The other three bolts had been over-tightened to compensate causing a binding in the housing. By loosening these bolts, I was able to free the rotating parts and correct the problem. I debated removing the entire pump and return for replacement but, after several hours of troubleshooting, I decided that the motor housing would probably outlast the life of the pump even with a stripped bolt. Once everything was buttoned up & operating, I was very satisfied with the actual operation of the pump. It runs very quiet and provides plenty of water pressure to all areas of the house. My only recommendation for future purchasers would be to hook power to the motor and test the pump/motor before starting your installation.

Great pump
Great pump and quieter than the original gets up to pressure quick too. Only downside it did not have the foot valve to convert to a shallow well pump with it, fortunately my old one fitted and working ok. You might want to check dimensions as with the foot, on this pump is about 3 inches longer that the original too, so had to cut a hole in the wall to get it to fit in the space available.

Powerful 2 hose jet pump
A magnificent and quiet pump. I just installed it to replace my 40 year old one. It's much more powerful and works well with the 20 L pressure tank. I would recommend this to anyone.

Works Perfect
Great pump. Took my flow from 4.8 GPM with the 1/2 hp, to 8.2 gpm with the 3/4hp.
