a great deal from Amazon
i originally bought and installed this filter under the sink some time ago. Over time, the flow rate very gradually slowed, but i didn't think much of it. It kept producing clean water. Recently, the flow rate suddenly slowed to a dribble. Then i looked back into Amazon purchase history and realized i had installed it 2.5 years ago! Time for a new filter. The replacement is supposed to last 6-months. OOPS!! I pulled the media and found that the sediment filter looked light red, indicative of the very fine silt in our well water. The carbon block was the same gray. To better understand how these filters age, I ran the filter with only one of each, and found that it was the carbon-block that was restricting water flow. The sediment filter allowed very fast water flow. The local home-improvement store had an equivalent 2-pack from GE, but it was $48! Thank goodness for Amazon! Note that you can buy these filters separately, they are the standard 10" filter media, so you can choose a specific micron size for your sediment filter to suit your water supply. But beware that the carbon-block filters are not created equally. you can buy cheaper ones that just remove chlorine taste, but the good ones remove VOC and Cysts. This is definitely the one to buy. As for how long before changing the filter, it depends on your water. If you still get the same strong flow rate after 6 months, i'd say you can keep using it for a year or more if you know you don't have any harmful contaminants in your water. Also, if the water slows, inspect the filters. If you find a lot of gunk in the sediment cartridge (because you have dirty water supply) then just replace that - it's by far the cheaper of the two cartridges.

Filter is fine, fittings not so good
The water filter itself is pretty well made and does a fine job filtering water as far as I can tell (seems to remove the taste of chlorine). The flow is a bit slow; it is OK for filling a glass but it takes a while to fill a pitcher. It comes with a handy adapter that goes inline with the cold water line and provides a tap with a shutoff for the water filter. Five stars so far. My main complaint is with the fittings for the 1/4" water line. I had trouble getting every one of them to seal. The adapter uses an O-ring that is supposed to seal on the outside of the water line. I finally got it to stop leaking using an O-ring sealant on the outside of the tubing. I also had to mess with the compression fittings for the filter itself to get them to stop leaking, but it could have been my fault for disconnecting the tubing that came already connected to them. One of those pieces of tubing had a wart on it, so I decided to replace it with new tubing which I had then had a hard time getting to seal. I nearly gave up and replaced the elbows that have threaded connections on one side that connect to the filter and compression fittings on the other end. Two stars for the compression fittings.

Not WATTS, Are they good????
Seller description implies that these are OEM Watts replacement filters. As you can see in the photo below, the Pre-filter is by Flow-Pro not Watts and is 5 micron (same as OEM). The carbon filter is by MAX (MAXVOC-975) not Watts. Labels say the "materials" were tested and certified by NSF, but NOT performance tested. The OEM carbon filter was 1 micron and this one is 0.5 micron which gave me concern that the flow rate may be lower with the finer filter. However, the flow rate for the new filter was much much greater than with the OEM I replaced. I removed the filter to make sure it was sealing correctly and water not bypassing the filter. I found the seal was good but the replacement carbon filter (blue one in picture) had >1/4" hole in center compared to <1/8" in the OEM original filter I replaced. Not sure if this is good or bad. I like the greater flow and the finer 0.5 micron filter, but don't know if this flow come at the detriment of water quality. My questions are: How do I know if these are as good as original Watts filters ? Are they OEM Supplier parts made to OEM specs (clearly flow hole size is different)? Sept 2018 UPDATE: Water taste seemed fine and I liked the increase in flow rate; though I wonder if system filters as well as at low rate. I just ordered another set of the filters. When they arrived they were wrapped in clear plastic with none of the labeling the previous set had (see photos). This time the Carbon filter didn't have the 1/4" hole as the previous one, but was full diameter (see photo). Makes me think these are from another source or ????

Be careful to Order Real Watts Filters - Read This Review
A number of reviews say these is not real Watts brand filters. I placed an order for the first choice and received real Watts brand filters. Before ordering I called Watts to confirm that they were manufactured by Watts. They said real Watts filters are labeled on Amazon as Amazon's Choice and it must be shipped and sold by Amazon. The confusion with some buyers may be that when you click on the Watt filter product there is a second purchasing choice. One would expect the second choice to be the same product, but it is not. It is an off brand filter. Amazon should remove this second choice since customers expect that all buying choices are for the same product.

Very disappointed!
I purchased these filters back in June and am finally getting around to replacing them, and when I opened the package, there are two of the same filter even though the package was fully sealed and shows that two different filters should be in the package!

Great filters
Good filters. read the reviews on slow water flow. Saw that and drilled the output hole to 1/8" and there was a big difference. I pre mounted the units under the sink counter because of the slow water flow.... Wanted to put them in the basement right under the sink ( an additional 4 feet ) but went by the reviews. I've changed the filters and yes it is slow... Next filters I will drill the 1/8" hole (again) and move the cans to the basement like I wanted. Good filters. They were heavy as hell when I replaced them (the first time) after putting the1/8" hole in them. That tells me there working.. I've used these filters for two years now and the work great. And, cheaper here that obtainable locally.

Perfect fit and ships quick
I need a set of these twice a year for my two stage under sink filter in my kitchen so order them regularly. They always fit consistently and Amazon ships very quick. I even got it a day earlier than originally stated. Much easier and more convenient than Brita jugs.
