I don't know how they do it but they do! I thought they would be inferior in some way but I haven't seen a single tiny difference between these and the ones that are pre-packaged and cost 20 times more!

Appear to be good quality - Wish they gave a grade though
I needed some good quality stainless screws to be used outside near the ocean. Screws appear to be well made and are fairly hard (some stainless hardware is relatively soft). The plastic package didn't identify the grade or quality of stainless steel and the screws have just the number 4 stamped on their heads. The description at Amazon suggests they are austenitic so I had assumed they were the common 304 grade of stainless. However, they didn't look like typical 304 screws and were quite magnetic - this suggested that they were either non-stainless, or had been cold-worked enough to increase the magnetic permeability, or they were ferritic or martensitic (as opposed to austenitic) stainless. Because I hate doing a job twice, I tested these screws: after cutting them to ensure they weren't just coated, I let one sample soak in a saltwater bath for a week and let another soak in acetic acid. I'm happy to report that neither showed any corrosion (while my control non-stainless items were extremely rusted). Even though I still don't know what grade these are, they appear sufficiently corrosion resistant to suit my needs.

These worked well for my project.
I found these decent for attaching downspout strapping into expansion plugs in masonry. My other project involved securing rubber to thick plastic. For both projects, plastic and lead, aluminum, no pre-drilling, screws went right in with little torque, heads did not round off. I should have ordered another few bags of these. I don't know how they'd be in heavier gauge metal. With all self drilling screws, for that, I'd recommend a pilot hole or at least a punch. We'll see in the next round. :) Good deal. Could not buy this quantity for this value at local stores.

Worked Great
Used for a gutter guard install. Made my own guards from 1/4" galvanized wire cloth, 3' x 50', I purchased through Amazon. Cut 3' x 4.75" sections and bent them with a saw cut made in a 2x4x50. These are probably 410 so they are somewhat magnetic. This helped hold them in the drill bit. I have 245' of gutter. Used over 500 of these screws.

NEED Stainless Steel!
Even in Florida, the very best hardware can be short-lived. Yess see, to be great so far...time will tell! EVERYTHING rots,, corrodes, rusts or cracks here....

NOT Stainless Steel! they stick to a magnet - something stainless won't do. fool that i am i trusted the seller and just tossed these in the drawer - and by the time i got to using them it was too late to return. SUPER annoying b/c i had to put the project on hold today when i reached for what i thought was a correctly sourced component...

Worked Fine
Used this for stainless steel chimney pipe. Needed a pilot hole but once that was in it cut its own thread fine. Ordinary metal it drilled into without a pilot hole but would not start the cut into the stainless steel.
