Excellent customer service and fan!
*Long review warning* As an HVAC contractor and owner/operator of my own company, and with 11 years in this particular field of construction, I understand the need for quality tools. I started out using what I could afford until I was able to earn more as I learned more. And one of the first and most important things I learned is that the quality of your tools can GREATLY affect the quality of your work. That being said, as an avid DeWalt tool love'r and owner, I have many of the tools in their lineup including the original 20v/120v DeWalt fan that this one replaced. As always, I read the reviews before I commit to a new purchase, but I'm beginning to get to the place with DeWalt tools where I've just experienced time after time that the name and quality of everything they make, really just speaks for itself. It's absolutely NO different with this fan. In fact, yet again it's exceeded my expectations for performance. The original fan is much heavier and though it comes with a male plug to hook up an extension cord (should you ever need it) I've never needed it! So it's extra weight. The old fan, which is still very much in use only moves 500 CFM's of air. This new model is rated for 650 and you can definitely tell your getting it! On high, you can easily feel the air 20 feet away from it ALOT! It's nowhere near as loud as any fan that's even close to producing this much wind. I highly recommend anyone in the construction industry or campers or people who love to sit outside and need a breeze to cool off or keep the bugs away. A 6ah battery will easily run this fan (on low) for 8 hours a night for close to 12 days straight. Don't do yourself a disservice by passing up on making this purchase. If you already own DeWalt tools, it's a no-brainer! You will NOT be disappointed. Unless you bought something cheaper, thinking this one wasn't worth the hype. Then you'd be disappointed.

Great so far.
Just got this today. It's larger than I thought it would be based on the picture. It works great and appears to be made very well. It has hooks that pull out so it can be hung and also has slots so it can be mounted with screws if you want. It has good clearance for the battery so you should be able use any size dewalt 20 volt or flex volt battery. It has a variable speed so you're not stuck with just 2 or 3 settings. It appears to have just 4 screws that need to be taken out in order to clean the blade. So far I'm very happy with it. When fan is turned all the way up it does get a bit louder but not a deal breaker. At the time of purchase the Amazon price was the least expensive I could find.

A Must for DeWalt owners
These fans are awesome for anyone with a need who already has an investment in DeWalt batteries. I have two of these and found them to run 22hrs at the lowest possible 'on' setting, and 9 hours when set on full power. The on/off knob is variable from lowest to highest power draw. These will come in especially hand in the next loss of household power. Update: I should have mentioned that I'm using 5ah genuine DeWalt batteries. In another test I just completed, I ran one of the fans at absolute lowest setting for 36hrs. It was still going and I wanted to move on, so I turned it up full, expecting it to fail in a few minutes. It's been running two hours now, and is still going on full. WOW! VERY impressed.

Quiet, rugged, effective, versatile and just right.
I use this fan for the shop, camping, outdoor work, or anywhere a breeze is wanted. Everyone seems to run this fan on full blast which runs the battery down as fast as possible. I have a 3 an battery that will run for days on lower settings, which is all I sometimes need it for, like in the back of my SUV. I can hang it, or rig it any number of ways. It moves a lot of air! I was hesitant to but this fan because of the price, but I'm loyal to dewalt and am captive in their battery family. Now that I have it and have used it a while, I have no regrets.

Fantastic fan for job sites, boondocking, or general home use!
I love this fan! Sometimes you don't want to haul around an extension cord but you'd really like a breeze when you're working, sitting outside on a warm summer day, or boondocking in an RV during summer months. It has a variable control that is better than any standard fan I own (and I have a lot of them) and the fan is smooth and pleasant-sounding. Great to sleep to when camping (if you're addicted to fan noise). Plus, the battery lasts a long time. I was using a 5ah battery all night long and it only went down one bar.

Love This!
As a truck driver this thing is a must! Can't believe I went all these years without thinking this was a good idea! This fan is super powerful and cordless. It keeps me cool to cold on those moderate weather nights when you just barely might need the A/C but this fan keeps you from running the truck. Absolutely love it. The batteries last ALL night which is amazing!

Handy fan that sips energy and is quiet.
The fan will run for 10 hours on low speed and still have plenty of life in the 1.5 amp hour batteries that I am using. Super quiet and moves a lot of air.

Dewalt does not disappoint
As with all my DeWALT tools, I am very pleased with this purchase. This guy packs a punch!!! I'll definitely be using this guy on plenty of jobs.

Great runtime
Great fan, on max power I was sceptical of the runtime claimed. It easily hits their target. On low I ran this all night on a 5ah and swapped the batteries with 1 bar left. On max it has crazy good flow for the size and has the typical hum of a fan. On lower settings its dead silent and still pushes a good amount of air. I can see why dewalt removed the AC plug in option, it's just simply not required with how long it runs on a 5ah battery.

Excellent Portable Fan
I'm currently updating my power tools to be as completely cordless as possible. I felt the technology of cordless tools would reach a balance of price vs power/dependability at such time I would pull the trigger. I was gifted a Dewalt DC759 drill many years ago. It has never let me down but the old NiCad batteries leave alot to be desired. The DCE512B is my first Dewalt cordless tool purchase and it's awesome. I'm running a 1.7 Ah Powerstack and it just sips the charge. Granted, I just got it but I have yet to drain the battery. It's powerful for it's size and is as quiet as you can expect any fan to be. I compared the DCE512B to Milwaukee's 0886-20 cordless fan and don't understand why Milwaukee only offers a three speed setting when Dewalt has variable speed settings. You may not think this is important but dialing fan speed to it's usage is a key factor for me. This one feature makes Dewalt a superior fan from Milwaukee's. I just wish Dewalt kept the corded plug-in on the newer model but it's not a deal breaker as it is a 'cordless' fan.

Me gustó mucho

Awesome fan!
I have 2 of the previous model to this one and just bought this one. They are pretty much the same fan however this newer model does not have a spot to plug directly into a power cord.
