Serious design flaws, but has what other potties do not

This potty is hard to rate. There are serious design flaws, but what it does right is enough to make you overlook it. The biggest problem with this potty is that it is messy and a pain to clean. It's got a lot of parts that don't fit together in a very smart way, and they all manage to get pee on them. Pee gets up under the seat and into the base. You cannot just dump the little pot, you have to regularly clean the seat, the splash guard, and the base. Otherwise, it gets real gross, real fast. We keep a pile of paper towls in the base to absorb what we can. I've tried 5 potties, and this is by far the worst to clean, however, this has been the only potty that I have had any succcess with, because there are 2 things that really make this potty stand out above all other potties: 1. THE PADDED SEAT: When you first start potty training, you have to get the kid to sit there for a while, and the padded seat makes it so much more comfortable than all other potties. This is the only potty that I could actually get my kid to sit on without it becoming uncomfortable immediately. He unhappily squirms and fights me on every potty except this one. It's also correctly sized for toddler butts. It fit him comfortably at both 2 1/2 and 4 years old. Most potties seem to work for them when they are real little, but become impossibly small once they get a little bigger. 2. THE LARGE SPLASH GUARD: If you have a boy, you know how hard it is to keep that pee in the potty. This potty has the biggest splash guard that I have seen. Yes, it is imperfect. The splash guard is a separate piece that fits to the seat, which is also a separate piece, and the pee tends to find its way down the splash guard, under the seat, and into the base of the potty. BUT, while the pee is all over the various potty parts, it is at least in the potty, and not on my floor and my kid's pants--something that was totally unavoidable with all other potties. Every once in a blue moon, he will manage to get past that pee guard, but he has to really work at it. The toilet paper holder and the little compartment at the top are completely superfluous. I'm also never using this thing as stool or whatever. I don't see it being useful in that regard. I wish they would make the removeable bowl bigger and eliminate the gap underneath so the base wouldn't get so gross. That would be better than having all of this unnecessary stuff.

True to size

Got open box in perfect condition. Wipes don't fit in holder. Don't use toilet paper holder that easily pushes in to disappear cuz toddler unrolls paper and paper would also hit dirty floor. Use wipe holder to store liner bags bought on Amazon. So sturdy. Kid loves. Safe. Love just having easy lift out little separate bucket liner and so easy to wrap with liner bags to toss. Eliminates cleaning. Mine open box so fully assembled so no assembly tips thank goodness. Very unisex. Fits easily in smaller half bath near toilet it wall. Unobtrusive. Stylish. Best one I tried.

I wanted to like it more

I love everything about it except it seems really small for my son.. My son is pretty big for his age, he’s 2 but in the 90 percentile. When he sits on the potty, he gets his privates stuck in between him and the splash guard but if I take the splash guard off than pee will be everywhere ????

Don't waste your money!

In theory this product is great and has everything you would want, but in reality it is really poor value for money. My son used this to potty train and it was great, but the design of the seat means that the cushion inside of the seat gets soaked in wee and consequently becomes a health hazard. Everyone knows that toddlers have accidents to begin with and our seat now oozes wee out of the holes that are drilled in it (see photo for where I mean) and drips into the base. My little boy is generally quite careful but the splash guard redirects the wee to the wrong places!! Very poor design as we are now being forced to throw it away 3 months down the line. I'd try to request a refund, but I've no idea how to at this stage!

Difficult to clean

comfortable for my little fella but as he's still in the "often missing" stage the clean up is annoying. There are three main components - the seat, the bucket, and the frame. the seat has a ring of plastic underneath that you end up needing to flex to loosen the water tension enough to dry it out, the bucket is fine but there is no seal or recess to stop spills going into the main frame. the frame is accessible once the bucket is removed but its not a flat bottom in there - there is a lattice work of plastic ridges in there for structural integrity that just collect urine. there are about 50ish little locations the spill can accumulate. We've given up trying to keep it clean throughout the day and just take it in the shower with us. Oh - i think this was more his fault than the product but the lid flapped down (easily) mid flow which was - upsetting.

Buy a standard potty instead

I bought this to start potty training with my two year old. He is quite small for his age but struggles to sit on the seat comfortably as it's so small, we have not been able to use the boy guard bit at the front as he really struggles to get onto the potty with this on. It is easy to clean, however because the seat unit isn't big enough, you often have to clean the seat, the removable potty insert and sometimes even the base which the potty insert fits into. I like the fact it has a lid and it's cute that it has a little toilet roll holder. It's great that it doubles up as a step and can be used on the toilet too. The compartment for wipes is far too small and I can't fit a standard pack of wipes into it. Overall I wish I had bought a simple standard potty.

Hit and miss... literally

Good potty. The hole is abit on the small side and not very easy for boys to use. The gaurd is pretty pointless as child struggles to fit on with it on. There are gaps around the potty insert making it possible for a child to accidentally wee into the base. It seems that a child has to sit in the exact right spot for the potty to be effective otherwise the child misses the potty whilst urinating or smears poo on the cushion... but the cushion part is comfy.

Landfill

We bought this potty because we liked being able to use it for different funtions, therefore making it bit more eco-friendly, but we've had to admit defeat and buy an ikea toilet seat to replace it. As with one of the other reviewers, the soft seat quickly developed holes and became soaked in wee which would bubble out when he sat down, and there was nothing we could do about it - washing it just made it even more sodden. Cleaning the thing is massively annoying and the wee guard did just direct the wee all over the toilet seat and sometimes down his legs when the seat was used on the loo. Do yourself and the planet a favour and choose a different potty as this massive hunk of plastic will just end up as landfill.
