Works as advertised.
Have run one of these in New England for a number of years, does just what it is supposed to at a low current draw. The only issue I have is mounting it to the top of a 4x4, it’s tough to snug it down so it starts to wobble and get cocked a few times thru the winter. Great product though and I’ve tried several types of bird bath heaters. After using one of these for a few years I bought a 2nd.

Birds love it.
I put it on my other birdbath and plug-in. If I don't have a heated dog dish. The cats would drink out of birdbath. This picture was last yr. Now I have A heated dish for cat.

Perfect!
Every day this birdbath has blessed us as the ice comes and the snow falls. It has been the perfect birdbath so the birds can still drink and bath. ????

Nice quality birdbath does great job of keeping water from freezing
I had previously used a different version of API birdbath that lasted for many, many years. I decided to try this larger one. I just bought the birdbath, without the ornate stand that you can buy with it. The mounting kit that comes with it is very versatile and allowed me to mount it onto the end of a log (see picture) to get it off the ground. The center hole on the bottom of the birdbath uses a standard 1/4 inch x 20 tpi threaded insert. So if you want to, you can use your own mounting configuration that provides a 1/4 inch x 20 tpi bolt. The birdbath is made of a sturdy high quality plastic that is not flimsy or brittle. I find it easy to clean the birdbath. I just tip the old water out and wipe it down with a paper towel. I then refill with a gallon of fresh water, which fills it nearly full. The heater within the birdbath does a great job in preventing the water from freezing. It keeps the water temperature at about 59 degrees F (as measured by an infrared thermometer with outdoor temp at 31 deg). To save electricity, I plug the birdbath into an outdoor smart plug (Kasa brand) and have the power turn on only when the temperature drops below 35 degrees F by using an IFTTT routine (If This Then That). The heater uses a grounded 3-prong cord for safety, something many other birdbaths don't have. The only downside I've seen so far is that not may birds have utilized the bath after being out for over a month. I think the water may be too deep in the middle, so will probably place an appropriate size stone in the water. I have seen deer, squirrels, racoons, and other animals drinking from it, just not many birds. I'm impressed with the quality of this birdbath and would buy it again. EDIT 12/4/22: I recently set this birdbath up for the winter and it still works perfectly. I have lots of birds using it, without having to add any stones or anything. I've also seen an occasional squirrel drinking out of it as well as deer (especially if it's been below freezing weather for a long time). It's fun watching the wildlife out the window. I added a photo of some Robins in a dirty birdbath that needs cleaning and refilling.

Just what I was looking for.
At first, I was not sure of the interior depth since the exterior looks like a very deep bowl. But the product information says it is only 2” deep. Based on the reviews, I purchased it, and the interior depth is indeed only 2” deep. Which is what the current thinking is on how deep a bird bath should be. The power cord I use to connect the bird bath to the outdoor receptacle is the EP outdoor extension cord – 12/3 SJTW, which I also purchased on Amazon. It comes in lengths ranging from 3 feet to 100 feet. The stand is from Wild Birds Unlimited and is their short bird bath stand. It is 11.5” high and 20” diameter. They also make the same stand that is 26” high. UPDATE: I have now purchased a second one for my backyard.

-15º and working great
I’ve had this since Sept 2022 and it had done fine with temps down to 3º, but wanted to wait for a REALLY cold night before I gave a review. Last night (Dec 22) it was -15º with -50º wind chills. The water is still…water. FIVE STARS AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! FYI - • It holds exactly 2 gallons of water. It’s wide and shallow. Birds can drink and/or bath with no problems. • I put mine in an empty fire pit in the yard. That keeps it low to the ground so that small wildlife can access a drink of water in frigid temps. The low height does not deter birds at all. It’s busy all day long.

For that price the power cord could be longer!
Just received and set up. Temps in the 40s so we’ll see how it works with temps under 32 degrees.

Love These so much I Bought Another
This is my second one I've purchased. The old one is still going strong after a few years. I keep mine on the ground up on top of a concrete block so everyone can grab a drink. My husband put a smaller concrete step by it so smaller animals can stand up by it to get a drink. Enjoy watching everyone come by. I'm leaving my old heated bird bath at the house I'm selling for all the critters I've cared about for many years, that's why I had to purchase another one. Everyone should plug one of these in every winter. I keep mine out all year long, of course with no electricity in warmer months.

Pretty simple
I love the mounting options you have with this item. I just rinse it daily and refill it with water. When the water evaporates it leaves residue that looks off but once you rinse it and refill it, you’ll see it’s still the same colour. I didn’t think it was working at first because everything was cold but so far we are at -10 Celsius and it’s still water, not warm, but it’s still water. Overall I’m pretty sure the birds give it a talons up!

a grave disappointment
I had to call an engineer friend to install the bowl on top of the old stand. It would not fit so we took the part of the old bowl, removed the part that would not jive with the diagram, replaced with the old and it 'sot of fit'. All in all this was totally unsatisfactory - what a fraud by Allied precision. And no I would never have sent it back to the USA from whence it came. My birds are at least able to bathe and drink.

Keeps water from freezing in Canada
This is a great product; it keeps the water from freezing during the coldest winter days in Ottawa Ontario Canada! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is not easy to install on a post with the hardware included and requires lots of fiddling around.

Great unit. Keeps water thawed in very cold weather.
Really like this unit. It did not come with instructions, but found them on the internet. We installed it on a cement pedestal to provide stability. At first we thought it wasn't working (water froze the first night at -30°C). But we then found the issue, one of our outside plug was not working. It worked very well once we fixed it. It worked. thawed the existing frozen 2in of water in a few hours. Most importantly, the birds like it.

Love it!!
This purchase was a replacement for the exact same unit that lasted me 24 years!! It was not keeping water thawed anymore so it was time to replace. I will be using old one for summer since its easy to clean and birds love the big wide bowl and the depth is perfect for all birds. I do not have it attached to a deck instead I have it sitting in my cement birdbath since I like the location of that.
