I bought this to use for an elderly cat who had recently been suffering from allergies, which was causing a condition known as reverse sneezing & also some asthma attacks. My vet had recommended getting a vaporizer or humidifier to use where he sleeps to alleviate his symptoms and lung irritation. I had a humidifier & that helped, but it is a warm steam variety (not good in the heat of summer when the a/c is blasting in other rooms) and automatically shuts-off once the max humidity is reached (so it won't run continuously). I found this little cool mist vaporizer & have been very pleased with it. It was much smaller than I had thought it would be, even after reading other reviews & seeing the pictures. But it is sufficient & puts out a nice, constant stream of cool mist until the tank empties. It has about a 6' cord, which I wish was a little longer, but I guess that's what extension cords were invented for! It works virtually silently as well, which is nice so it doesn't disturb the cat (& also would be great for a nursery as well). I use refrigerated distilled water & haven't noticed any kind of build-up at all, or any white powdery residue. I have it on a tile floor, and while the floor around it does feel cooler to the touch, there is no moisture from the unit accumulating that I have noticed. The very top can be twisted to direct the mist flow. The on/off button has a small, unobtrusive backlight - blue when it is on & red when the tank needs to be re-filled. That one button is the one that cycles through the 4 combo modes. The blue nightlight feature lights up inside the water tank itself. It can be used when it is in either the low or high mist flow setting. I guess some people think it may be too bright, but I didn't find it any brighter than any other nightlight I've ever used. I think it only holds a little less than a quart of water at a time (per the manual, precisely .21 gallons), and on the low setting found it would run for about 10-12 hours I think, so enough to run through the night. The tank itself will be hard to clean - the opening is fairly small & the manufacturer recommends a bottle brush. The tank does have some coating to help resist build-up in the interior. There is a tiny brush snapped into the base, to be used to gently clean the ultrasonic disk. The only other recommended method of cleaning that part of the base is with a small amount of vinegar/water solution to help remove any build-up from the disk (without scraping or scrubbing it, which will damage it). So far it has worked great for its intended purpose. My cat's breathing has definitely improved (asthma attacks stopped!) & this is better than using the warm steam humidifier in the summer months. I'll switch back to that in the fall/winter. Hopefully this will stand up to daily use in the meantime - will update review if there turn out to be any problems later.

WAY smaller than expected
So far it seems to work well but it is TINY I read through everything before I bought it and I did not think it would be this small. Hoping it gets the job done but I really wish I would have known it was this little. Shoe in photo for comparison is a size 6 in women's

Just what the iguana ordered
This is a great humidifier but probably not for the reasons most use it. It's actually the second one we tried in the last couple weeks. The first one was larger but it leaked, and that's never a good thing. I had also tried one from a local store, but it wasn't going to work out the way we needed either. This one is perfect! It's just smallish, so we need to fill up at least once a day, sometimes twice depending on how long my daughter lets it run. See, this is actually for her new pet iguana, who apparently needs a moist, rainforest-like atmosphere. I had looked at contraptions that were specifically for reptiles but they all had really bad reviews. I saw where someone made one out of a regular humidifier and figured if that was possible, then I could figure it out, too. What makes this unit well suited for that purpose is the nozzle is not tilted or uneven like on so many models. It's pretty flat on top so I could glue the plumbing pieces right on and there's no leakage (so far) around the nozzle. To fill it up is not a total pain. Yes, it would be nice if that could be done without lifting the thing out of the base, but none seem to work that way. The clear tubing I put in is just removed and then we can lift it freely out. You can hopefully see in the photo the mist going into the cage. We have not tried this on the higher setting but on the lower one, it seems to run on a single tank of water. One time, we lost track of time and it ran out, but it did stop as it was supposed to. It would be nicer if there were a knob that turned because, otherwise, you have to remember how many times you pressed the button. The first two are low, second two are high, and the difference between each is with or without light. At first, the low setting emitted an annoying buzzing noise but that seemed to go away once it ran a bit and now it's quiet all the time. This started to be a concern because soon Thing will be moved into the living area and I didn't want to have to ensure a high pitched buzz for him to have mist.

Never have to clean!
I rinse off when I refill every night. Have not seen any orange build up. Wash once a month. Love that it is naturally bacteria free material. Mist is not wet and is perfect humidity for my room.

Comfy night's sleep
I have 2 of these in my home. During the winter, the house dries out with the heat on. We like to turn both on in the rooms in the evening. When everyone is ready for bed, the rooms are a comfortable temp and the humidity in the room is perfect for sleeping. We no longer wake during the night feeling like we are dried out and our noses aren't stuffy. When the grandkids come, they like the nightlight glow it gives off also.

Really nice LITTLE unit
the one minor negative is the directional disk in the top. it isn't anchored well. It is, and is meant to be, removable. With the earlier model, when I turned the reservoir upside down to fill it the disk didn't fall out because it was threaded in better than this model. Then, when you go to put the disc back it doesn't seat easily. It takes a little finagling to position it correctly. This is MINOR stuff. If I were advising the manufacturer, I would suggest that the night light feature be switched independently from the variable moisture button.

Does well
It does very well for such a small humidifier. This size in no way would be able to make much of a difference in an entire apartment. It is best to be used in a room with the door closed. Despite this, it does manage to help enough in the winter to keep my entire 550sq/ft condo from static. It prevents my hair and clothes from getting static so my hair isn't uncomfortable and I don't get shocks from touching things. But for dry skin you would need a much bigger humidifier. This one does REALLY well for it's size.

Great product for its price point
PROS: Affordable. Easy to use. Quiet. Effective if close enough to you. CONS: The reach isn't far enough for an entire bedroom however. The humidifier has to sit right next to you on a nightstand, otherwise it won't make a difference. The on/off button light is also too bright. There is no option to turn this particular light off. I have to put something on it to block the light at night.

STILL Five Stars in 2020.!
This is so great and last for overnight without worrying too. I love the night light.! O.K> I am back to say that I purchased this in 2017 and I am still enjoying it immensely. It does the job, runs quietly, easy to refill and well what more can I say. The price is right and it isn't too large and still working great while I enjoy great health. Thanks to this company for selling this to ME.! Now in Nov. 2020 I am still using this and still agree with e everything I said.

Un poco complicado para recargar
Hay que quitar todo el tanque de agua y además quitar un tapón, rellenarlo por un agujero pequeño, una vez lleno el tanque se torna resbaladizo, hay que volverlo a montar en la base teniendo mucha cuidado.
