Good hasp, but make sure it will work for your needs

This hasp is solid, seems to be finished quite well, and the price is decent. Since this style also keeps the key slot on the lock facing down, it will help protect it from water damage. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the description said it was triple chrome plated, and it does not appear to be. To me, it looks more like a somewhat shiny, silver powdercoat, not chrome. Perhaps there is a dull chrome that I don't know about, but when I think chrome, I think of a very shiny and reflective surface, like on bumpers or on the Trimax puck locks themselves. This hasp isn't even close to that. Couple notes to consider before purchasing this type of hasp. This part has nothing to do with this particular hasp, but rather this style (with the key slot on the lock facing down instead of to the side) in general. Think about your intended usage and placement of this style of hasp before purchasing it. The "L" shape of the brackets, which is necessary for the lock to mount vertically, creates an overlap area. So if mounted to secure a pair of swing out doors, that overlap will prevent you from opening one door at a time. Unless you can open both doors simultaneously, or have the mounting space available to shift it far enough to one side so that there is no overlap across the opening, they just won't open. If used on a single, swing out door (one side mounted to the door, the other side to the door frame), you will need to shift the mounting point over far enough so there is no overlap, or the door won't open. For sliding doors, or doors that open inward, this should not be an issue. Again, this is NOT a hit against the Trimax hasp, but rather just some considerations for this type of hasp in general.

Needs countersunk bolts undermlock position

I drilled and countersunk 1/4 bolts under the lock. Kinda useless without that. I can drill the heads off 3 carriage bolts in 3 mins and totally defeat the lock and not make any real noise with my trusty battery drill.

For shipping container doors, this does not work well.

While the design looks good, it doesn't work for double doors, like on a shipping container, if you plan on opening only one of the doors at a time. The design is such that the hasp on each side covers the opposite door...thus you must open and close both doors at the same time. The typical shipping container double doors have four latches that have to be operated ALL at the same time to open...or... to close. Unless you have two people, or you have four arms/hands, or a monkey, you cannot use this type of door hasp. I ended up returning this product and purchased the Master Lock brand, which works great.

Order this for my trailer but didnt work with my side door, had to get a cam bar set up instead. But I installed it on my shed and works great. It would work on trailer door but the way mine was designed I would of had to space it too much to get past the frame.

Packaging error by someone. POOR QUALITY CONTROL!

The two halves of the latch are identical pieces. They do not interlock correctly to to allow any puck lock to fit inside. This is obviously a quality control packaging error! Cannot get any puck lock in it. Returned immediately. Very disappointed in quality control. I saw others had the same problem. Was hoping I would not be one of them.
