Just like the one I had 60 years ago
I went through a few of these when I was in grade school. They were hard to use and broke easily. They haven't changed. They are still hard to use and will probably break in a short time. They didn't cost much and came with three rockets. I showed my 7 year old grandson how to be careful getting the rocket on to the launcher with out breaking the launcher. I showed him how to carefully pull the trigger with out breaking the launcher. I am positive he will eventually break the launcher just like I always did. But before he does he will have a lot of fun. We launched a couple rockets and they worked great. He was very happy. He will be sad when he breaks it, but I will buy him another.

Didn't measure up to childhood memories
I bought these because as a kid (1970's ) I remember having a rocket like this. I loved it and wanted to get one for my grandkids. However as I should have expected things aren't built the same anymore. These rockets are very cheaply made and do not perform at all like the ones I recall. Poor seals and a lack of pressure that is created all add up to very poor distance when launching. My grandkids weren't impressed and neither was I. A case of childhood memories being larger then life? Maybe

Rockets: 3 stars, Pump: zero stars. Use rockets with a vintage Parks Plastic pump from eBay
The red-and-white water rockets made by Park Plastics in the 1960s and 1970s were a joy, blasting hundreds of feet and far out of sight. Nostalgic parents will be deeply disappointed by this product, but this package still has some value if used with an original Park Plastics pump. As many other reviewers have noted, the pump that the Toysmith Aquashots Deluxe Water Rocket Set comes with is garbage. The Park Plastics pump of old had tight seals and metal fittings which could pump rockets to a high pressure. This pump is made mostly of plastic and starts leaking under any significant pressure. Using Toysmith's pump, rocket launches are a major fail, sputtering for ten or fifteen feet. So disappointing! The best way to use this product is to throw the pump away and pair the included rockets with an original Park Plastics pump. You can buy the original Park Plastics rocket sets on eBay. This will cost you a bit: even though millions of Park Plastics rockets were made back in the day, they have become highly collectible, and a set with rocket and pump will typically cost $30-$50 for a set in good condition. Lubricate the metal rod on the Park Plastics with3-in-1 oil , and replace the pump's washer with a washer from Home Depot if the rubber has become degraded. Once you're set up with an original pump, you can blast the rockets included in this package far out of sight. The original Park Plastics pump will last a long long time, while the rockets eventually get stuck on rooftops or lost. This package, despite its lousy pump, will keep you well-supplied with replacement rockets. note: I was *not* solicited to write this review, and I bought this product with my own money. I received no compensation for this review and indeed I have no idea who the seller might be. I pride myself on writing unbiased reviews.

Water Rocket
Difficult to refill. Only one of the rockets launches to a decent height. Would not recommend it.

Water Rockets
I had a set of the originals passed down to me when I was a kid & have fond and funny memories of my Dad trying to get my mission team freed from their pine tree landings with a garden hose - fast forward 30 years, and I bought this set for my son. The pump is a little sketchy & not nearly as robust as I remember mine, but the kiddo and his buddies have figured out the exact mix of air and water to get them stuck in our old growth pine trees - now my Dad gets to laugh as I try to bring the mission team home with a garden hose... even had a few trips to the roof with the extension ladder. Like so many other things, not like they used to be... but then, we had a set of 'Jarts' as well & those were never a good idea.

Cheap toy kinda works as described
The pump broke after the first day and the only way to get a launch above your head was to pump about 20 to 30 times. Was kind of fun for a few minute but quality was lacking.

15 to 30 ft if you double the pumps. Just like the old days
I thought it was risky to buy this based off of bad reviews, but since it was only 13 bucks I figured it was worth the risk. I'm glad I did. This is exactly like I remembered as a kid there's a little line to show how much water to add, and if you pump 10 to 15 times rather than the five stated on the directions you'll get somewhere between 10 and 30 ft of air. Perfect for my 3-year-old who will just chase after it and retrieve. Might be a little too hard for him to launch himself since you need to pump and release quickly. Had a fun 30 minutes at the park and nothing broke. Hope this proves to be durable.

Fun toy that is a throwback to childhood!
This is a great toy similar to one that I had hours of fun with back in my youth. I bought this for my grandkids. They have fun with it, but are young (single digits) and have trouble pulling back the "trigger" to launch it. They will be able to handle it when a bit older. A bit of work on that mechanism could make it easier to pull for launch as well as loading the rockets up on it.
