Timer
Excellent

This is the best overall Astro Timer I have used - Great Features
The features I laik about this product are the weatherproff case, the super capicatior (no batteries) and the accuracy - the clock does not drift much like others. The programming is a bit different but once understood it is easy. In Astro mode it auto operates on and dusk off at dawn. That does not need to be set. So you just need to program the other off and on times. I set mine to on at 4:15 AM and off at 10:15 PM and Astro mode. Therefore, on at 4:15 AM and off at dawn and on at dusk and off at 10;15 PM. I did have to program an offset for both dusk and dawn - but that was easy also once understood. I should add that the installation requires electrical work - it is hard wired and there are no plugs. The 120 version has a Normally Closed and a Normally Open connection. This in itself requires electrical prowess. For me this is great - but for others maybe not. The instructions clearly state that an electrician is required. With no batteries to ever change and auto daylight savings time and leap year and very little clock drift - you never have to touch it. Recommended over all others i have used in 20+ years. I have been using astro timers since they were first introduced. I wish they offered a stainless steel case but that is OK if the plastic one holds up. I should note that electrical work is required, there are no plugs and it is only directly connected. The 120 model also has normally open and normally closed contacts. The normally closed (NC) contact is energized when the timer is off. Nice feature but requires electrical understanding. The manual clearly states that an electrician is required for installation.

Update after testing.
I bought this item as I need a timer that can do 10 time controls on my thermostat per weekday. I am still testing it but my concerns are ease of programming and accuracy. Contrary to some reviews, I found the timer to be easy to program. Perhaps the video that is posted with the description wasn't available at that time. The video is very educational and useful. I'm presently testing the item for accuracy and will post an update after I run it for a week or so. For me, accuracy is finding that the clock is accurate and stable. I might add that I did quite a bit of research and this product was amazingly affordable. I will update this review after I do further clock accuracy tests. I need this timer to control my thermostat with five on/off cycles per weekday. I basically use it as a load controller to control my thermostat. Nobody makes a thermostat that can be controlled by the minute. Because my electric utility charges $17.44 per Kw of demand, calculated hourly, and my A/c plus vampire loads equals in excess of 6 Kw, I need to limit the A/C to 15 minutes per hour during the Demand time. If you don't understand, it just means I run my A/C for 15 minutes per hour between 3 PM and 8 PM. The accuracy of the clock was important as was ease of programming. This device has an accurate clock and appears to be very dependable in it's execution of schedules. I give it 5 stars for my application. Also I found it very east to program. I did a lot of searching to find this product and I'm very happy with it. I have no connection to the manufacturer and this is my honest opinion. Terry

Involved Programing
Nice piece, but a bit complicated for my simple mind. I was replacing a 1980’s mechanical commercial timer for my outside apartment lights that turned six lights on and off once a day. I got this timer, and it took a couple of YouTube videos to program it for this simple task. I hate messing with it and hope we finally get rid of daylight savings time just so I don’t have to make adjustments. Yes, it does have an auto adjust for daylight savings, but trying to avoid that lesson.

Beware of Proper Wiring Connections
Take a close look at this schematic diagram. Connections 1 and 2 provide power to the controller. Connection 1 is the Hot/Line voltage which provides 120VAC to the unit. The standard wire color is black. Connection 2 is the "Neutral" line. It is bonded to the ground in the main breaker panel. The standard color is white. Connection 3 should be connected to Hot/Line voltage. The controller is a single pole/double throw switch. This is indicated in the schematic. When the switch display indicates "ON", it closes the circuit to connection 5. Connection 4 is open or "OFF". I wired connection 4 to my load and programmed it for Astronomical mode (On at Sunset and off at Sunrise). It worked just the opposite. The Tork customer service rep told me that I should connect the load to connection 5 and not 4. When using the EWZ120 to replace another timer, make sure to use connections 1, 2, 3 and 5. This should help others in installing the timer correctly.

Confusing Incorrect Wiring and Programming Instructions
I purchased this timer as a replacement for a decades old also Tork timer I use to control outside lights in my house. It seems robust and an updated digitized version of the older one. Though it is surprising that the settings screen is so small and difficult to read - lacking any backlight. It looks like an old line company got as far as upgrading the digitization but did little else to improve on a much earlier model. For the price, this is quite a let down. The biggest issue with this timer is that - like other purchasers - I am having a major problem with settings. Literally, I cannot turn the timer off - so the lights are permanently on. Even when I have correctly set the 'on' and 'off' event times. Only the override will turn the lights off during the day. But then - contrary to the user manual - the Auto setting does not automatically end the override. I had a highly experienced professional electrician install the new timer for me. I think possibly the wiring and or programming instructions and/or settings are faulty. The dilemma is knowing what to do to fix this problem. So far, I have to say I would not recommend anyone to buy this timer. It is too time wasting and finicky. And not worth the money - especially at almost $200!
