You can sit on it while contemplating what to fill it with
A great multifunction organizer. You can sit on it while contemplating what to fill it with. If you're like me you have a few empty 5 gallon buckets at home. This just adds extra utility to an already useful home/business item. I use this at my work, in make-ready services.

Awesome
I had my first one for 16 years. I use it a lot for fishing. I like that there is a lot of accessible storage on top and the bucket is free for fish or plastic bins of tackle

>>> A GREAT IDEA -- with a few shortcomings -- some of which are easily fixable
CONS > Needs a handle for easy lift-out access to the bucket below -- the simple solution is to drill another hole (opposite the existing hole) for a simple rope handle (just a 14" or so length of 1/4" diameter rope with figure-8 knots on each end). With the rope handle, it works great. The plastic is soft, I simply used an awl to drill a small hole, and a philips screwdriver to enlarge it > The storage slots of the upper trays are NOT removable nor adjustable. The slots are 1 1/4" wide by 1 1/4" deep, by up to 4 1/2" long. > Each of the two lower sections is half-moon-shaped, 1 1/2" deep, or 3 1/4" deep if without the upper tray. The two lower sections have NO dividers. However, you can use two 1 1/2 x 4 1/2" pieces of cardboard (or rigid plastic) for removable dividers, to create 3 triangular storage spaces in each section. > There is about 1 1/2" wide lost storage space beneath the hinge. Presumably this space was left to allow for the handles of other storage trays in the bucket below --- but I do not know of a specific tray system which would be compatible with the Plano Bucket Topper. As a component of a small-parts storage system, this is commendable -- for a fishing bucket, the design is lamentably wasted storage space. > Used alone, the topper is considerably less convenient than a small tackle box. For one thing, with the customer-added rope handle, you have to be careful to balance the weight distribution -- otherwise it will flop to one side. > The Topper makes a comfortable, but slippery, seat. The slipperiness can be a problem in moist environments on uneven ground -- i.e., most of the time when fishing. A few lengths of anti-slip tape can fix that. > Caution, DO NOT use a 5-gallon bucket with a Topper as a step stool -- it would probably break and/or collapse, or your foot would slip. MISLEADING DESCRIPTION -- One of the touted features "Removable bottom provides bucket access" is NOT true. The bottom is NOT removable. With a very sharp utility knife, or perhaps a jigsaw, you can permanently cut the bottom out of one or both of the lower sections. However, unless you are a very careful craftsman, that would leave a ragged hole. Moreover, if you cut the bottom out of one of the sections, you'll loose half of the already very limited storage capacity of the Topper. > The Topper snaps down on the bucket like a regular 5-gallon bucket lid, That is a mixed blessing -- it won't come loose by accident, but it is also very hard to open or remove (even here in South Florida in the summer when the temperature is 95 degrees). Some sort of easy-lock--easy-unlock system is needed. > Unlike a paint-bucket-lid, the Topper has no gasket, so a Topper-bucket system isn't leak-proof. But, even with a gasket, the Topper would not be waterproof because of the existing hole in the top of the Topper (or two holes if you add a second one for a rope handle, as I recommend). PROS > Despite the shortcoming I've listed above, I love my Plano Bucket Topper. CONCLUSION > The Topper is a great idea, but needs be redesigned as two separate products, 1) one design as component of a small-parts storage system, and 2) a different design for a fishing bucket Topper (tackle box) and stool. The present design does neither task particularly well.

Perfect!
Such a great gear holder! I needed something to organize my tackle that was easy and compatible with a 5 gallon bucket. Mainly for ice fishing, but for any time I fish when I might be sitting a lot. There is so much space available….this is exactly what I needed for my fishing set up.

Beats a tackle box
Beats a tackle box but after sitting on it on the bucket it snaps onto bucket and I can’t remove to access contents inside bucket. Ordered tool that will pry lid from buckets. Otherwise good quality and if desired you can keep live bait or caught fish in bucket.

Almost Pefect
Bought this product to convert a bucket into a really simple multiprupose tackle system. This is a short term review so bare with me. Pros: Overall quality of construction is good, it allows for several different means of storing tackle or even accessing the bucket through this topper (by cutting a hole in the topper) which even if you do that you can still place the tackle tray in the same opening. Con: It will leak water into the bucket, so now I will have to drill drain holes in the bucket which defeats the purpose of a bucket. The hinges for the clear covers are cast into the lid, these hinges go right thru the top of the topper and will allow water to leak into the bucket. I will note that the hinges at this point are very tight and will not leak a lot but they will. Hold the press though because that's not all, the topper itself has a round hole in it for putting whatever you like into it as a de-hooker holder or to let you run an airline from a aerator into the bucket. This hole will not leak.. it will flow. For the finale we will swing back to the clear covers, they will not allow water to run into the upper tackle storage areas because there is a nice lip around the tackle areas and the covers fit over this lip. The covers are secured with nifty built in latches which you guessed it are essentially massive holes in the topper which will allow even more water into the bucket. I will now begin the battle of modifying my bucket to drain but have the ability to plug said drain holes if I decide I want to use the bucket as a bucket. Plano did not advertise that the lid was water tight or tight(ish) so I cant't hold that against them but I do not think they though this thing through, it could of been much better but it definitely could of been much worse.

Works well but secures a little too tightly.
It does a good job holding tools and not letting them out. The only problem is that it secures too tightly and as a result can be a little tough to get off especially when it is cold. At least there is a hole to add a pulling lanyard.

Great for my use.
I needed something for an outdoor makeshift table/trashcan without breaking the bank. Waterproof, washes easy. I'm able to set things on it with no problems.

Solid tackle box and lid
This bucket lib storage box uses heavy plastic so it feels very rigid. It has two plastic trays each in separate deeper wells. There’s also a hole for the aerator tube to pass-thru. And quite comfortable to sit on. My only complain is that it’s too tight on buckets.

I stand on mine regularly and haven't broke it yet.
I purchased this to go on one of my bucket tool boxes. I bought it to keep a variety of fasteners available. Every morning I sit on it to change my shoes. I regularly stand on it to reach high places and I have not cracked it yet. (I weigh 160lbs and I don't do it if it's cold) I have quite a few Plano products now from ammo boxes to shelving and all of them are excellent. My only complaint with this is that it's not available in different colours.

Good design
Good concept and design. My only issue is that after I inserted the pipe of my bubble machine through the hole on the lid, and inserted a blue ball at the other end of the pipe, the pipe cannot be removed from the lid any more.

Love this seat
Love this seat. The only thing i would advise is it doesn't fit all buckets so wait till you get it.
