The good, bad and just the truth
Updated - our dog is now 6 months old and whenever we leave the house she uses her thundershirt. There aren't significant changes with her anxiety while wearing the shirt but I do believe it does help calm her. She still has a fear of people, outside noises and new items. She's still in training classes which does help her confidence. She looks forward to going but it still takes a major effort to get her out the door and into the car. Once she sees her training place she rushes to get inside to her safe space in the training room. She is calm and relaxed while there. You can see her at training in the second attached picture. She's now 36lbs. I still stand by my original review. This shirt is not a fix all. It's an aid along with other efforts to help your dog. I adopted a 4 month old pit bull mix from the Cayman Islands. She is currently 23lbs. I bought the thunder shirt because she has a fear of people, loud noises and even going for a walk on a leash. No shirt will cure all of her fears but I hoped that this would lessen her stress. She shakes so much that I can see her body shaking which breaks my heart to see. Day one - I put on the shirt. She was not having it. She can reach the strap that goes under her neck and she was able to pull the velcroed straps apart. She was running around the back yard with half of the shirt on and the front half dragging. Once I captured her i immediately removed the shirt. A week later - I tried the shirt again today. She immediately tried to pull at the velcro to take it off. I distracted her with a toy and that worked. She's left it on for several hours. She has slept most of the day but seems to be nice and cozy. Will this work or help? This really depends on your dog. I personally have my dog enrolled in weekly puppy training to help overcome her fears. Along with a good support system such as training and socialization with other dogs, I do think this shirt calms her a little. She's been sleeping most of the day even when I was in and out of the area she was in. Normally, she will follow me everywhere. Does this interfere with bathroom time or play time? The answer is no for both. She ran around and played with no issues. She also went to the bathroom #1 and #2 with no issues. What size should I get? My dog has on a medium at 23lbs. The sizing for a medium is 26lbs so she was still able to fit. Did my dog walk outside on a leash - I did not try this yet. I didn't want to overdo it with this being the first day she actually wore the shirt. Do I think it will work? No, I don't. With time and training, I do think it will help support her in the future with feeling secure. Should I get this for my dog? I would honestly find a moment that the animal is in fear and hold them tight almost as if they were swaddled in a blanket. If they seem to calm down I think this could be of some comfort. I'm not an expert. Just a person that spent $40 on this shirt to help my dog out. If your dog is having a lot of anxiety I would spend money on training and getting to the root of the issue before buying a calming shirt. That's my opinion. If you are already working on the issue, sure buy the shirt and see if it helps in time. To me, this is not an overnight fix.

Works great for my dog
I ordered two of these (different sizes), one for my dog and one for my B-I-L. Both dogs do better during thunderstorms with the vests than they did without. My dog does better than his. For my dog, she is much calmer with the Thunder Jacket on. She is still not "comfortable" during a storm, getting in a tight, dark place. But she does not pant and pace with the jacket on. Took a couple of times to get used to how the jacket goes on the dog. Lots of velcro so it will fit snuggly on varying sizes of dogs within the weight range. Definitely adjustable to fit various size chests, etc. I've read other reviews that said Thunder Jackets did nothing for their dog(s). For mine, it works better than I expected. I'll buy another when the time comes.

Gave an old dog new life!!
Gave this to my son for his older dog who suffers with anxiety issues. When they out the thunder shirt on their dog her confidence was noticeably improved. Even her sleep has improved!!! What a great product.

Thundershirt turned my Terminator into a UN Peacekeeper
This product is nothing short of amazing. I adopted a 1+ year old ridgeback who turned into a reactive, protective Terminator within weeks of bringing him home--and this is the story about how the Thundershirt saved us. My sweet pup had spent almost 8 months at a shelter in a cage and no one wanted him because he seemed too hyper. I took one look at this handsome, muscular, athletic young lad and knew I could give him lots of exercise and attention and that I had to get him out of that cage. Home we went. He loved the car and walks and daycare and fetch and everything was new and awesome! And he was suddenly eating amazing raw food and sleeping on a bed for the first time in his life and came to know that his mommy was never ever going to hurt or leave him. Life was grand. Then....About two months into our new life together, the ridgie alpha maleness, high prey drive and reactivity kicked in, and suddenly everyone and everything was a threat to his precious mommy. He would pace and pant in the car and whine at engine noises from cars around us; he would growl and lunge at any dogs who got near us on a leash; and God forbid anyone step out of an elevator or around a corner too close to me. My sweet ridgie rescue became the most committed personal bodyguard on earth, which is kinda awesome but not practical most days. So we started obedience training, but it was clearly going to take a ton of raw treats, time and money to curb this behavior. We were stressed out. Enter the Thundershirt. I bought it on a whim to see if it would help with the car anxiety. After a few seconds of staring at the instructions and fumbling with it, I got it on him. He had been racing around the living room like a maniac trying to murder his faborite rope toy (which is typical puppy behavior and hilarious to watch), and the second I put the shirt on him, he totally chilled out and almost immediately fell into a sweet sleep. He looked soooo chillaxed. I even took a walk to the front door and knocked on it to see if he would come racing over and barking like usual. Nothing. He wandered over to investigate, but was silent and calm. Interesting. Maybe this thing really worked!!! After about 20 minutes, I decided to throw all caution to the wind and take him on a walk during peak doggie time in our neighborhood. Scary thought. I slipped his Roughwear harness (also blue--he looked very stylish) over the Thundershirt, opened the door and out we went. I could not believe what wasn't happening. No pulling. No reactivity. A bird landed on the ground in front of him and he just looked at it. Two dogs passed us within 15 feet and WW3 did not ensue. Previously, that would have resulted in a snarling, barking confrontation. This time, he stopped and looked at them and tensed a bit but did nothing else. I was stunned. He even took a poo not too far away from another pup, something that never would have been possible before. When we got home, I took the shirt off and he immediately went back to sleep. The next morning, I really pushed the envelope by sleeping in past 5:00 am (which was when I would typically have to take him out in order to avoid all the "threats" around us) and took him out during peak doggie time. He sauntered around the corner, and we ran smack dab into a male lab. Nothing happened. The lab even gave a low growl and my ridgie stopped and waited for him to pass. I could not believe my eyes. Then a loud engine popped around the corner (we live in an urban area) and my little man tensed up but didn't freak out like usual. The Thundershirt works, people. If it can turn my large ridgie Terminator into a docile keeper of the peace, surely it can help with any anxiety your pup might be facing. I will only use it when we walk in public or ride in the car, because his playful, energetic personality is a big part of him and I don't want to stifle that. But wow, what a difference this product has made for us. Bravo, Thundershirt. You nailed it.

These things work
Just not for this dog. We've had them before for German Shepherds and they've worked well. One of our dogs is a Rat Terrier and is extremely freaked out by storms. Since they worked so well on the larger dogs I thought it was worth a shot. Didn't see any difference. I still gave four stars because I know the Thundershirts do work. Oh and on the comfort question, she didn't complain so I really don't know.

Yep
Bought for my beagle pup. Not much maxes her anxious except having to be still. Used during her healing process from her spay. Along with her pain meds, she did wonderful accepting the ecollars used. We had both tradional and blow up ecollar. With the assistance of the thunder shirt, she didn't fight either.

Works wonders!
Foster dog is not only terrified of thunder, but rain also, to the point he claws the walls panting furiously. Was sceptical about these thundershirts, but felt there was nothing to lose. Whilst it doesn't stop the panic panting, it certainly takes the edge off, enough for him to settle more. For the other dog, it has stopped him trembling. Will see how these thundershirts work during the dreaded fireworks season.

AMAZINGLY GOOD - AND NOT JUST FOR MY OWN DOG!
I bought this product for my 10yr German Shepherd, Bracken. I'd only had her a couple of months when I ordered it, but i'd known and walked her from being a pup. She's a VERY anxious dog. Always had been. Terrified of strangers, traffic, storms, fireworks etc, and her previous owner had kept her away from scarey experiences as much as she was able. When her owner was sadly dying, I took her in (much to her owners joy), - rather than have her put to sleep as requested. ("No-ome would want a lovely dog as screwer up as she is") When it came to November, I discovered just what a traumatic panic a dog can fly into! I already knew I was in for a terrible time but i've had dogs all my life, as well as working with them for last 12 years, so I was prepared, with plug-in diffuser, covered crate (with constant access), and classical music for dogs playing continuously, quietly in the background. My other 2 old German Shepherds who'd been with me for years were slightly upset by Novembers fireworks but Bracken.... was a complete wreck! Nothing was working. She didn't even dare go into the garden to toilet. Then I heard about Thundershirts and ordered one immediately. It wasn't an instant transformation (I knew not to expect miracles) but by her 3rd day of wearing in the evening, I could see she was noticably calmer. I tried it on her on her evening walks when I knew we were likely to hear some bangs, and she barely responded to the distant ones! Very different from the week before. She was still upset in the house on a night when there were lots going off, but i'd put her shirt on and she'd go and hide quietly in her crate for the evening. I then went on to recommend it to some of my clients (i'm a professional dog walker). One for another firework phobic dog, and one for a stressed out dog who was suffering terrible seperation anxiety. Both dogs have been dramatically helped by the shirts. I haven't used Brackens shirt since Bonfire week, and she's a changed girl (also down to the training i've put in). She can now walk along busy roads, and will allow strangers to stroke her. The shirt is put away but I have no doubt it will be out again next November. I can highly recommend these and would strongly urge people to buy one if they have a dog with any anxiety problems

Thundershirt
Having read up on the Thundershirt and Tellington touch and looked at some pretty convincing videos on youtube I decided to try one. My rescue dog gets very stressed and does not settle we when go out and leave her. Having video'd her several times prior to using the shirt, we video'd her several times while wearing the shirt. The first time of use I noticed she seemed to settle for a little longer time than normal but on subsequent times I could see no real difference in her at all. Out on walks the shirt seemed to make no difference whatsoever. I was not hoping for miracles just that she might be a little calmer around other dogs and when left on her own. I am extremely disappointed. The only good thing I can say is that it makes a cosy coat, especially in this cold weather. I wouldn't let my experience put you off trying though, it may work for your dog.

Calming effect is great
As the fireworks started last weekend Loki was really settled. A step down from diazepam. Last night was a nightmare. He was much calmer up until late evening but I ended up given him his diazepam when he panicked after the neighbour let off extremely loud ones. All in all I think Thunder Shirt definitely did a good job. It’s a brilliant idea. I definitely recommend it

It works
Arrived in plenty of time for bonfire night. Nice comfortable fit for my Westiepoo. She's half toy poodle and extremely sensitive. She's a nervous wreck when the fireworks are going off. With the vest on, she didn't pace or pant. She dozed and actually played with her toys. I highly recommend this vest for nervous dogs
