Fast and Accurate
This version of the device (I've owned several prior models) is easy to use, fast, and accurate. I highly recommend it.

Great little thermometer
Bought this for a friend. I have one myself and love it since I like to know if meat or frozen entrees are cooked thoroughly. Mine does not have a cord attached, & I don’t know what purpose the cord serves.

Good price - quality constructions - Good to use as a pulp thermometer
The build is sturdy, the snap cap for the probe is nice. The cap can be attached to the end of the probe to make the handle longer. It snaps in place to keep a firm grip. The plastic shell is thick - but not overly so. Seems to be a well built device. There is a hold function so you can read the temperature then hold the display so others who may want to see the reading can see it as well. Not sure if it can be calibrated - however if you put it in ice and you read 70 degrees F - then you should probably return it. The readings seem to take about 30 sec or so to stabilize from say - 90 degrees F air temp to get a good read of ~ 40F. Mainly due to the the outer shell of the unit cooling down as well as the electronics. I would be careful when stabbing it into the rhine of a watermelon or cantaloupe. You may damage the probe - best to poke it in slowly. Likewise if you stab a zombie in the eye with an overhand blow - the probe may be damaged or break from its foundation -which could result in your demise. I would not recommend an underhand thrust to stab into the gelatinous goo of a toxic slime monster. The stress placed on the epoxy mount of the probe may cause it to fail. As a last resort - you may find this thermometer useful to flatten the tires of a rampaging horde of wasteland cannibals - provided they are driving. I suggest stabbing the sidewall of the tires - which is the weakest point. However you choose to employ this little gem - I am sure you will be able to read both C and F temperature accurately and quickly.

Outstanding
Very easy to use. Small convenient size. Instant readings. Has convenient count-up as well as count-down timer. Appears to be very accurate. I use two and simultaneously test two parts of the meat. I have used other instant thermometers. I like this one the best.

great product + great value
In spite of some mixed reviews this model has garnered, Amazon's 4-for-3 promotion and free/Prime shipping, *and* 30 day no hassle return policy made this too good of a deal for me to pass up; glad I took a chance because I'm happy to say this has been working exactly as promised in the description. This unit will read the air temperature and then climb to temp slowly if turned on before inserting in food; it took about 10 seconds to get the 165*F reading on a meatloaf which I thought was acceptable for the "slow" mode. Features an "instant read" mode too - insert it into the food product first, *then* turn it on; it will take about 1 second to get a reading this way. The "Hold" button keeps the last temp so if you want to re-check something it doesn't have to start all over again to rise to the last temp taken. Nice design features of a pocket clip and lanyard. Also the cap can be used on the end to add a little extra holding length; this was handy to keep my fingers out of the heat when I was checking food in my toaster/convection oven. Because of the high number of negative reviews regarding if it is waterproof or not, I won't be wetting or submerging this on purpose. Not something I use terribly often (two or three times week) and I've had it a little less than a month so I will update if anything fails or changes for the negative but so far I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Is that a thermometer in your pocket?
I needed a digital thermometer that could do higher temps than most out there,. This one being able to reach 450deg F looked to fit what I needed, and so far on that end I am rather happy as I can actually read the temperature of molten solder with this =). However I don't get the "instant read" aspect of this thermometer, to me it seems like it takes a few seconds to read/absorb/calibrate to the temp. It's not like you stick it into a boiling pot of water and bam you get the temp immediately,. it takes a few,. Probably 5-10 seconds,.. Now I have no problem with that at all but I wouldn't call it instant read. Also, the unit is a tad bit bigger than the picture makes it look,. It's not giant,. But it's not small either. let's just say this,. it's a little too big to put in your jeans pocket,... As with all thermometers like this the probe has a sweet spot where you'll get the highest readings from,. Unlike cheaper models iv used in the past this one's sweet spot seems to be directly in the middle of the coned tip. I do very much like that you can press hold when the reading levels out, and then switch between C / F to see either or after you've pulled it away from your heat source. So far, it's a good, sturdy, accurate digital thermometer,. And the display is big enough to read in most situations though if the designers of the product are listening, the unit would benefit from backlighting.
