Perfect solution
The thermometers that mount on the outside of the grill lid kept filling with water and would then stop working. This is the perfect solution!

Works but disposable
I bought this to learn about pan temperatures at various heats. (Trying to keep avocado oil and/or ghee under 380 on a cast iron.) It achieved in teaching me that but you better learn fast because the unit can't withstand a cleaning without fogging up and soon becoming gross/unwashable. This would be better suited used far away from the food you are cooking.

First one failed on second use, but the seller promptly replaced it
I like this thermometer. The first time I used it on my outdoor gas grill, it worked great. When I used it a second time, though, something went wrong and it became useless (see picture). I contacted the seller through Amazon and they lived up to their word. I returned the product at a local Kohl's store and received the new thermometer promptly. I haven't used it yet, but hopefully this one is more durable.

Works well on all surfaces
I added a flat iron grill to my gas BBQ grill. I wanted to know what the temp was on flat iron grill. It works really well.

Glad to have it
1) I purchased this STYLE of thermometer based on a grilling website. Per their recommendations, I won't expect it to last more than a year. 2) I put it on the grill last night (12/20/21) and compared its reading to an IR thermometer gun I've got. The mechanical thermometer read 500 degrees and the IR read 450 degrees. I have no idea which was more accurate :-) 3) But I FINALLY started learning the temperature of my grill. When the hood thermometer read (less than?) 300 degrees, the mechanical thermometer read 500. Also, I learned that turning my control nobs a "small amount" caused a large change in temperature (you have to allow the thermometer time to adjust). So it will be helpful in doing my medium to medium rare meats!

OK for the money
I bought this to throw in the middle of a big smoker and my grill when doing slower cooks. I'd say compared to my electronic thermometers it's accurate enough if your shooting for a temp range. The problem is if you are using smoke or a water pan the thermometer becomes completely unreadable. I used a wire clip to mark the 250 degree spot and then I can atleast eyeball and estimate the temp. I'll probably get a few more cooks out of this before I replace it.

Must have for outdoor griddle
I have a 2 burner outdoor griddle. This thermometer is the perfect accessory for regulating the temperature on both sides of the griddle.

Prend l'eau
Je l'utilise pour le grill du BBQ, c'est très utile. Difficile à laver, il prends l'eau. Il faut le chauffer à haute température pour faire sortir l'eau. Il est lent à réagir. Voici le résultat après 3 mois d'usage.

Works but arrived damaged.
It’s handy for knowing the temperature of a flat griddle. Mine came dented and damaged but no worries it still works and what’s it gonna look like in a year.

Buyer beware — thermometer glass gets discoloured on the inside, impossible to clean
Used twice, and the glass discoloured on the inside so the numbers are illegible — and it's impossible to clean. All things that are undesirable in a BBQ grill thermometer. Fortunately Amazon's return policy is fantastic and I returned it without much hassle.
