Comfy and cool, but a tad short for big and tall guys

I am a big and tall guy and the XX-Large has been good if still a bit short on me. Style wise, it’s a great looking shirt. I’ve been aware of TYR for years as the equipment sponsor of USA swimming but had never seen any of their gear until recently. The Majorica heather is a stylish and attractive color just as athleisure faire. The shirt has lots of tiny holes in it, supposedly for moisture wicking and quick drying. I’ve worn it out on some walks and it’s felt great every time. The shirt does have a bit of an athletic fit to it. I’m a big guy and I can definitely feel it hugging my contours quite a bit. Lengthwise, most of the time wearing the shirt, it’s long enough to cover my long torso. If I extend my arms fully out (in a T-pose) the shirt does start to ride up enough to expose some of my stomach. If I put my hands over my head, the shirt fully exposes my navel. If a “3X” variety was offered, I would have taken it, but I occassionally have luck with 2X. This was not one of those times. It is also pretty thin. I plan to wash inside out and hang dry because it feels like the kind of shirt that would disintegrate with too much heat in a dryer. Bottom Line: The TYR brand is on my radar now. This is a great shirt, but it’s important to remember who it’s made for: athletes. Without an athlete’s build it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it, but you might have the occasional moment where the illusion breaks and you notice your gut is hanging out.

Comfortable. Favors the young, lean and fit.

My husband likes this athletic shirt, it has a light, soft feel, and is comfortable - Tyr Performance Tee - Heather Grey - Large. He’s 5’11”, with an athletic build, 185 - 195lbs. However, because it is lightweight, it’s also a bit thin and does not hide imperfections. It favors the young, lean, and fit, with a close-to-the-body drape. There’s good length, the neck opening is a little larger than expected. Fit is to size.

Lower neckline, mediocre material, sized small…average overall

Unfortunately there are a few characteristics of this shirt that I don’t care for. In the aggregate, it leads me to my 3 star rating. The material is a little rough. It just feels a bit off and not like other dry fit shirts I have. The neckline is lower than what I am used to which makes it look a bit weird on me. The sizing is more comparable to cycling apparel. Pretty slim fitting throughout. You can definitely workout in this shirt, but the feel, fit, and finish just aren’t there for me.

Thin, lightweight

This is very thin which is not necessarily a bad thing for a sweater, but this sweater is transparently so. Hair stick through the lose weave, you can visibly see your skin or the shirt you wear below. The fit is slim. Quite slim--but attractive if you're in shape.

Perfect but sleeves a bit short

Admittedly, my husband is unusually tall at 6 foot seven. That being said, a lot of shirts have long enough sleeves. Everything is great about the shirt and as advertised but the sleeves are too short in the size large for him.

Excellent quality product

This product is designed for people with a sporty figure (which I do not have), but the fit is good for me and the sizing is spot on. I find the tee to be comfortable enough to sleep in and durable enough to wear every day. The material used is cool (as in not hot) to wear during a workout. Luv this tee.

Lightweight, breathes well, and comfy

This is an excellent workout shirt, all around. The 91/9% polyester/spandex fabric is thin and light, with a soft and smooth feel against the skin. The shirt handles sweat well and dries quickly, thanks to the very breathable semi-perforated texture. I really like the Heather Grey color/pattern, which helps the shirt look a little more like a casual T-shirt than strictly gym wear. I ordered my usual size Large, and I'm very happy with the fit. The cut is athletic, so the shirt drapes somewhat close to the body, but it's not at all tight or form-fitting. It's ideal for me, as I don't like having excess material flowing and billowing around while I exercise. The shirt is well-made, with strong seams and no visible defects. Branding is nicely limited to a subtle TYR logo on the left shoulder. Overall, this is a high-quality, comfy, and airy workout shirt. Recommended.

Would be a great shirt with better sleeve design

This is a brand of sports clothing I normally like a lot. And at first I thought this shirt would be another great product from them. But then I wore the shirt a couple of times and learned that the sleeve design is quite messed up, in my opinion. If you're designing a long sleeved tee shirt, you surely have to realize that within any given size (medium for me) there will be people with long, average and short arms. If the sleeve's too short, it won't work well for the tall, slim, long armed people. But if you include extra sleeve length for those people, you need to give everyone else a way to keep the ends of the sleeves from falling over their wrists or hands. Cuffs are the old school solution and they work great, but they are kind of rare now for some reason. Another good solution is to taper the end of the sleeve so that it can be pushed up the forearm a little bit and stay comfortably in place. A terrible solution, and the one this shirt has, is to just have a big loose sleeve end that won't push up and stay. It just hangs loose and gets in the way of everything you try to do with your hands. So even though it's a really good looking design and a high tech lightweight fabric that launders well, customers like me, with average length arm, don't like wearing it. It's a shame, but that's my experience. If you have long arms for your chest size, it may be OK for you. Otherwise I'd avoid it.
