Quiet, elegant wine chiller
I bought this to keep wine from getting too warm, especially in the summer. I think a lot of people treat this sort of thing like a fridge. It's not a fridge. If you put it on the coldest setting, you'll be making the fan work hard and it won't last as long as it ought to. I keep mine at 65 degrees and store mostly red wines in it. Most are fine for drinking at that temperature. I transfer whites to the fridge (or wrap in a wet towel and put in the freezer for 10 minutes or use a vac-u-vin wine chilling sleeve if I can find it) before drinking those. The Sunpentown (yes, the same company that makes the very highly rated SU-4010 humidifier) comes very well packaged with an unfortunately large amount of styrofoam. It seems to be missing a foot when you first open it, but it turns out this is a design feature, not a design flaw. Or so they tell me. Anyway, the good news is that it does not affect operation. The shelves are not adjustable, but it will store 20 standard wine bottles pretty well. Bigger bottles are a challenge. Thicker champagne bottles won't go. Tall bottles are usually OK in the middle of the fridge because the glass in the door isn't as close to the bottles as the rest of the door, but really tall Reislings would be a challenge. There's a little light inside which goes on if you've left the door open too long, but isn't really an automatic light (you have to switch it off manually). It's fine, but not great. The whole thing is quiet and discreet. It's as loud as a very quiet fan, and there's no juddering of a compressor when it switches on or off. That's because there is no compressor (this still isn't a fridge). It's just a fan and some cooling fins. None of that is exposed at the back of the cabinet but you will need to leave room for air movement. This is NOT suitable for installing in a cabinet, requiring inches of clearance on all sides to function properly. However, it's about the same height as a nice coffee table and works very well for that purpose in my spare room. No idea yet on reliability. If I have problems, I'll update this review. I'm generally pretty happy with it.

Great for average 'skinnier' bottles (average wines). Not so great for 'fatter' larger bottles (fine wines)
Other reviewers have made accurate comments about rack size and the time to reach storage temperature on start up. That said, I would rate it a 4+ if the racks were a little larger. The Cons: Space for wine in racks is sub-standard. For low to mid-quality liquor / grocery store wine, that I presume is consistently smaller in circumference, size is fine. However, for our finer wines with bottle circumference of 10.5" (or even 10"), they have to be jammed in, reducing space for other rows. Also, it takes almost two days to get down to 55-54 degrees the first time you plug it in. The Pros: Love the size, it fits under my favorite pub table perfectly - so why couldn't they have made it an inch bigger to accommodate bigger bottles! Seems well made and sold, but LIGHT. I like the smooth glass door with recessed handle, rather than one that has to be installed and sticks out. It has stayed nice and cold and no condensation. I wanted to give it a 4, and really think at this price (paid less than $150) it's HARD to complain since it does work, but I'll say 3 because it should have been EASY to make it an inch bigger. My recommendation: BUY it for everyday wine storage of average to small size bottles. If you are looking for a long term storage solution for high end wines, this isn't really the best choice.

Good, but could be better!
First the good - I've had it a month and seems well made, is compact and quiet, styling is minimalist, just a black cube, and the temperature control is easy to set. The interior LED light seems unnecessary (it is controlled by a button on the front, not by opening the door) but looks good if you have the cooler on display. As you can see from the published dimensions, it is compact so not very convenient on the floor; it really needs to be raised for ease of access and not having counter space I bought a $8 (yes, that's eight dollars, or $7.99 to be precise) coffee table from IKEA to put it on. Then the not so good: yes, it is quiet but it does make a very soft moaning noise when cooling - not a problem for me but could be for some. But things you really need to know about before you purchase: 1. It does not remember the set temperature if it loses power, but resets to 52 degrees. I don't want to keep wine that cold, just want to control temperature fluctuations, and I keep it set to 60 degrees so a bottle of red is (almost) drinkable straight out of the cooler. Something to be aware of if you have frequent power outages. 2. And the big one - only Bordeaux-style bottles (or smaller) fit. A few Burgundy-style bottles can be squeezed in one or two per shelf but the overall width is too narrow for a full shelf of four bottles, but some bottles are too big to fit at all without removing a shelf and reducing the number of bottes it can hold. I can live with that, storing mostly Bordeaux, but this would be a fatal flaw for many prospective purchasers and it does seem a pity when an extra inch in height and width would make such a difference. So overall I am pleased and would buy it again - great value for money - but if you want to store many Burgundy-style bottles think again.
