Works, even it looks a but dorky

I use this as my primary sun hat. Totally looks dorky, but it protects my "needs SPF 100" skin and thinning hair quite well. Breathes well. Compact enough to throw in a back/cargo pocket. Water proof to help with warm light rain where you are too hot to use a hood. I agree with others that I wish the back flap was a little longer to cover tall people's necks when wearing a T-Shirt though.

Super lightweight and breathable

Wirecutter rated the Sunday Afternoons Ultra Adventure Hat (not this model) as the top hiking sun hat. I wanted to get something that's also waterproof so got this Storm model. I was worried it would not be very breathable, but it is incredibly lightweight and very breathable. I have only used it a few hours hiking in 98 degree weather and gardening in the pouring rain, but it meets my expectations. My head is usually between medium and small sizes and this has enough adjustment that the medium fits well. I don't use the chin cord since you can adjust the circumference around your head. Highly recommended!

Great coverage and waterproof without looking to crazy or being a sauna for your head

Wore this for a couple weeks in the Rockies and it did what I wanted. Great coverage, kept my whole face in the shade so I didn't need sunscreen and protected my neck. I mean, it's not a style hat, but it does everything I needed. Folds up nice and flat for storage, too.

NOT ON PAR WITH OTHER SUNDAY AFTERNOONS HATS

I love love love Sunday Afternoons hats, but not this one. This seems to be the replacement (uptated??? version) of the Sunday Afternoons Cloudburst Hat, but it's an epic fail. It does not fit as well as the Sunday Afternoons Cloudburst Hat for starters, and it looks much cheaper in that the part of the hat which fits around the head doesn't LOOK as soft or as fitted. (Do not confuse "look" with actual fabric, because it that regard, the fabrics seem pretty close). I have long hair and I love the Sunday Afternoons Cloudburst Hat because it has fabric at the back which covers part of my hair, keeping my hair dry in the rain. The back fabric in this version (Storm Hat) is shorter, although still longer than most other brands of similar hats. If you want to protect your hair or neck, consider that. The problem in this regard is that the Sunday Afternoons Cloudburst Hat fits better, and hangs lower in the back, so it covers much more hair. My other issue is the light colored safety???? strips added to the back of this version. It gives the hat a disappointingly sporty look, meaning that you can't really wear it to work and it makes it look more like a kid's hat than one for adults. Finally, the color of the hat shown in the picture is nowhere near the color of the hat I received is a grayish taupe (not a problem for me) but not beige as it appears on my monitor. I am so disappointed in this hat.

Love this thing

My large hat fits well and i have a big head. backflap great for neck sun protection, and neck cord good in case it's windy. perfect for what i'm looking for

someone put a lot of thought into this product.

This hat weighs almost nothing and folds flat. There are times I like to go without a hat and I can carry this thing in a pocket, yet when it is unfolded it is very sturdy. I have not used it in the rain yet but it does a great job of keeping the sun off of my neck and out of my eyes. I am very happy with it and would buy it again.

Great hat for either rain or shine!

Very nicely made sun &/or rain hat. Love the back neck coverage which prevents rain from going down the back of your jacket as well as it provides sun protection.

GREAT HAT!!!

This is one of the few products I have ever purchased that does exactly what it says it does. It is 100% waterproof and it is super lightweight. It does add a few degrees of heat to your head, compared to the standard but that's no big surprise.
