Great penlight that's not blinding
Slim design fits in pen pockets. Low mode gives enough useful light but isn't blinding. Use it at work to examin eyes without blinding the patient. If you don't need the light of 2 sun's and to illuminate something 2 counties over then this is the light for you.

Nice for pocket
Works well for technicians to fix places in small nooks and crannies.

Still works more than 10 yrs later
I bought this pen light in '09 and it has gotten a lot of use. It still works well. The only con for me is it's the only item I own that uses AAAA batteries! I was just trying to buy these batteries at the grocery store and they didn't carry them. That's why I'm here. I am going to buy another one penlight to make the battery purchase worthwhile. ;-) I have some Streamlights with the push button "on". The one featured here turns on with a twist. This on has lasted 2-3x longer than the push button lights since the button fails eventually.

Excellent as expected from Streamlight
After buying the Stylus, I now own four Streamlights, the others being the Stylus pro, Micro Stream and Nano. All have worked flawlessly since I've had them and I use them quite a bit. I also like Fenix lights, but based on my experience the Streamlights are a bit more reliable. This is an excellent penlight to have in the car, or at your desk or in the toolbox. It's perfect for tight spaces, yet bright enough for general use. It's small and thin enough to hold in your mouth if you're working on something and need both hands free (for example fixing the plumbing under the sink). The tailcap button is for momentary-on and you twist the tailcap for constant on. The beam has a nice wide dispersion. The LED is exposed, however it doesn't seem fragile, like a light bulb. It comes with a black plastic cap with a hole in the end, which can be used to protect the LED or to act as a beam narrower. Either way, I probably won't use it since it reduces brightness and I'd end up losing it anyway. If you don't need a light this thin, also consider the Streamlight Pro, which is thicker but also an inch shorter and slightly heavier than this one. I'm glad I have both, but if I could only have one, I'd keep the Stylus Pro which is significantly brighter and uses 2 AA's. My only suggestion for improvement would be to shorten it so it uses 2 batteries instead of three, which would make it a more convenient size. It doesn't seem as bright as it should be for using 3 cells, and they could probably achieve the same brightness or close, with 2 cells (albeit at the cost of a little battery life).

Awesome light
I have had mine for over a month now and use it every chance I get. This thing has a decently bright light beam considering the size of it and the battery life it has. I use mine with the black light guard that slides right onto the front of it over the LED and it stays in place nicely. It feels pretty sturdy and I haven't had any mechanical problems with it and hope not to for quite some time. For the price, you can't beat it. The Energizer pen light that is like $16 in stores is good but it has one downfall that this does not... the plastic pocket clip breaks easily when this one has a metal clip on pocket clip that isn't going to break unless you intend to try and break it for some reason? Over all this thing is great for the price and can't be beat until you go up $30-40. Keep in mind what you want this used for though. Some reviews say they needed a light for the medical field and trust me, you don't want this shined in your eyes but as far as ears and the mouth go it's set. I also recommend the silver over the other colors. Not because it looks better but because of this scenario. You are camping out in the woods and you are doing something away from camp at night. You realize you need your light to see well so you reach for it and it fumbles out of your hand and is on the ground. Black can be very hard to see at night and Red is a common color in nature so if you even find anything red, it might not be it. Silver on the other hand, sticks out like sore thumb.

Sleek, bright, sturdy!
I use this in neurology to check pupils. It is replacing a much-loved and well-worn LED penlight branded by the Gerber Steel folks, presumably before they wondered why a knife company was making a penlight. I'm picky and I don't like the disposable lights that hospitals seem to stock by the thousands. This light is lightweight, sturdy, has sleek looks, and is plenty bright - enough so that I have to be careful to use it at a distance, just like my last LED light. This would be just as handy in a glove box, or a desk drawer, or any other space where you might need to keep a small, bright light handy. "Penlight" is a really strange term for anyone who isn't already familiar with these things. It is not a pen, just a light in the same shape as a pen. The only downside is the use of AAAA batteries. Given that my previous penlight has been running for six years on the same set of AAA batteries, I don't expect that I'll be changing these very often, so it's a minor issue.

Like the Stylus Pro much better.
Maybe it's not fair to judge this compared to the stylus pro light by Streamlight but we like the pro much better. This penlight is just too long and I'm not as fond of it's bluish light it emmits compared to the overall light out put of the Pro. We find it easier to carry the pro in a pocket and find it fits our needs more. But thought we'd give this one a go. Wouldn't recommend unless you are looking at very similar pocket penlights say for medical field. And I actually like some of the plastic body models years ago that did not emmit that blue light but a warmer yellow....yes I know it's the type of bulb that makes a difference and these bulbs last a lot longer. I can't fault the quality of this light and it does like the other streamlights it has a stay on button which is one reason we like the Streamlights over most other brands.

Very robust.
This is my second one, the first was dissabled by a leaking cell after 12 years of daily use. Very strong construction, has withstood drops etc with no problems and the batteries last for years, this was the reason they leaked, should have checked them yearly! Excellent light output, very even spread. Tip.. if the press button gets a little intermittent, unscrew the end cap and lightly abrade the end of the brass sleeve at the end of the main tube, it tarnishes over time, and thats it. Well recomended torch.

Another fine Streamlight prouduct but light could be stronger.
Streamlight products are always of excellent construction and quality, and this one is no exception. However, the light itself is less powerful than I expected which is why I can't give it a rating of more than three.
