Great car light
I have a bunch of flashlights and always have one in my pocket. Currently I carry a Streamlight Stylus Pro and I've gotten a lot of use out of it. However, if I were out in the middle of nowhere in the dark and needed to change a tire on the side of the road or handle some other inconvenience I'd be glad to have something brighter. That's where this light comes in. I bought a couple to keep in both my cars in case of emergency. I like the simplicity of just having a single on/off function. I also really like being able to swap between spot and flood at a moment's notice to fit what I'm doing. And at this price point (around $30 at time of purchase) they are perfect to buy a couple and have ready whenever you need them.

LED emitter is crooked
The very first thing I check when receiving a new flashlight is whether or not the LED emitter is crooked. Unfortunately, it was obvious right away that this one was crooked. The first picture is a straight on picture of the crookedness. The second picture is an example of what happens when the emitter is not perfectly placed. (See how the right side of the hotspot is brighter than the rest of the hotspot?) I have purchased $10 flashlights that have perfectly centered LED emitters. This is just poor QA from Streamlight. Besides the off-center emitter, this flashlight feels great. Simple operation. The transition between flood and spot is very nice. I'm going to ask for a replacement and see if this was a one-off. I have other, more expensive, Streamlight flashlights that do not have this issue. I'll update the review accordingly. --- UPDATE: I received the replacement; the LED emitter is reasonably centered. It is possible my previous model was a one-off, but I think it is more likely it's a luck-of-the-draw situation. Here are my final thoughts: 1. Negative: Uses PWM (pulse-width modulation) for brightness control. It should not be necessary when there is only one level of brightness. The frequency is high, so it won't matter for average users. 2. Negative: The tint (color temperature) of the light is odd. The hotspot is cold white and the border/flood is warmer. 3. Positive: Excellent construction. Feels perfect in my hand. Very pleasing to unscrew and rescrew the tail when replacing batteries. I am tempted to keep the flashlight based on this alone. Ultimately, I will not be keeping this flashlight. I wouldn't not recommend this light to someone, but I also wouldn't recommend it.

A focusing light which actually works
It doesn't have good power regulation, which I think something in this price range normally should. However, if you use lithium batteries this is not as bad. This big feature here is that it actually works pretty well in both flood mode AND spot mode. The optic in this is like a combination of a TIR and a magnifier. In flood mode, the LED (mounted on a platform) is all the way forward up against a magnifying glass-style section, producing a mostly smooth flood beam. In spot mode, the LED is lined up with a TIR portion of the optic, producing a spot beam which is "almost" as good as what you would get from a lot of non-focusing TIR lights. The flood beam is not perfect, possibly as a result of the optic design. There is a very slight ring about halfway from the center, which you won't notice unless you are looking at a plain surface. The most disappointing thing is that the center of the beam is slightly more toward the blue spectrum while the outer part is slightly more yellow. The tint range is all within what you would consider to be white light, so whether or not this bothers people with probably vary. I think some Coast models have the same focusing setup. If you look at the lens design of this one, you can tell it's neither a plain magnifier nor a typical TIR with only a tiny center indent..

Bright, one mode, flood/spot. Streamlight did their research.
Pros: one mode, flood/spot, nice build, not too bulky for EDC. Semi-Cons: button is flush with housing. I got this to replace my 5-year-old EDC Stylus Pro this past week but I wanted to share my first impressions. It's a little on the thick side but that's not too much of an issue. If you carry it in your pocket on a daily basis, the button side of the flashlight conveniently sticks out of the pocket for easy access and the clip is very nice. The button is flush with the housing, which protects the button from unwanted ware but I have found myself almost dropping the flashlight when turning it on. However, I will get accustomed to it as time goes on. The feature I love the most is the flood/spot mode switching. It's a smooth transition that can be done with one hand. In flood mode, it's slightly brighter around the center but barely noticeable. Spot mode is concentrated well with a nice peripheral lighting. Overall, this product seems like the result of Streamlight researching the types of features people want in a flashlight and I'm thankful for that. If they make a Stylus version, I may switch to that one.

This one has a spotlight focus feature that works great out to about 30 yards
I haven’t found a dislike for this light! It works great, I would recommend this light for general use around the house, or anywhere you need a bright light

Not an improvement over the Junior LED
I have used the Junior LED, for years. Had three of them. I like the light better. I don't see the zoom on the F-Stop to be a benefit.

Candela and lumen are not the same. Because of the reflector and larger form factor, it put out more candela than some other with higher lumen rating, because of the focused beam can let you see farther. I’m surprised at how bright for this at 220lumen. The spot function is good at surveying the scene. On the other hand, flood beam is extremely handy for taking closeup pictures when I’m repairing my car. The only problem is to constantly swapping between 2 modes because there is no locking mechanism. If you don’t need a pocket size one, this is a very simple but versatile flashlight.
