Good product, better pricing elsewhere
First, the design is tried and true, you cannot go wrong with a “Hurricane Lantern”. This one is lightweight and quality is acceptable even though it feels a little flimsy. It worked fine every time I used it, no issues. It’s plenty bright enough and even throws a decent amount of heat so be careful around/near flammable items. Make sure you use appropriate fuels for indoor use, warnings are readily visible on the packaging so no excuse for not paying attention to them. Also be sure to keep the wick as low as possible when in use. This keeps the flame from going so high as to burn the top of the unit (see this on the 7.5” unit on the left in the attached pic), it also extends the life of the wick. The flame is intended to ONLY be from the oil, the wick is simply to “wick the oil up to the flame”, FYI. Don’t overfill it and be sure to give the oil plenty of time to saturate the wick before trying to light it (15-45 mins, the longer the better). The instructions were very helpful so be sure to read them or you might break it trying to replace the wick or lighting it. You’ll also see how to position the lifting & hanging points so they don’t get too hot when you need to go mobile after it’s been lit for awhile. Now for the bad news… This 7.5” unit was $8.99 on Amazon. I bought the larger one beside it in the pic (same manufacturer) at my local “Super Center” for $7.49. The silver lining: If you need it (power is out, flashlight batteries are dead or you need light for extended periods of time or outside in the wind, etc), $8.99 is well worth the price because even the little unit throws enough light and heat to keep you warm in a one-person sized emergency shelter. Did I mention the “Hurricane” name means it’s designed to be wind proof? Final thoughts: Get the larger model, any price difference is negligible and it uses the same size wick. Every home should have at-least one of these and no, I don’t work for or support any company that makes these.

Doesn't keep a low flame very consistently
I bought 2 of these mini lanterns. I used kerosene fuel. The mechanism for feeding up the wick supplied too much fuel over time and the flame would get large enough to burn the paint at the top of the lantern. Even after turning the wick down as low as it would go, the flame would either go out or be too large / hard to maintain the happy medium. Of the two, one of the bases slowly leaks the liquid fuel out. Just keep this in mind for your future plans for these hurricane lanterns. Static display they are super cool. and you get what you pay for, I suppose.

If you put in a small amount of work, they are great.
I did not feel like messing around with solder or anything that takes away from how it looks, so I used Permatex window and glass sealant. It was used for a couple of hours a day after it was sealed and it worked well. It does feel cheap because it is lightweight, but it has been knocked over by my dog and survived. This one is used with Firefly Kosher, Eco-Friendly, Safe and Green Lamp Oil - Non Toxic - Biodegradable - Virtually Odorless - Liquid Paraffin Alternative and it works well. The wick size it comes with might work with liquid paraffin, but this other type of fuel works well in this size and the 12". My review on the 12" is the same, just shorter because I did not include info about the fuel.

Cheap and leaky, but can be easily fixed
Like other reviewers noted, it leaks slowly from the bottom. I used some red high-temp RTV silicone to seal up the bottom and it works fine now. I don't think it's necessary to use high temperature silicone, but I had some sitting around and the color was nearly a perfect match. After fixing that problem, it's totally usable now, but I still wouldn't trust leaving it unattended, or probably even using it indoors at all. Lamp oil won't burn on its own (e.g. without a wick), but there's still a risk. The build quality isn't great, but I would say it's acceptable for the price. I was surprised that they could even make and sell one of these lamps for $5. Overall, it's okay as a decoration. Functional, but not great if you intend to use it as an actual lamp. I gave it some stars for being so cheap and actually working, and looking reasonably good too. I bought it mostly to satisfy my own curiosity. I might use it outdoors on occasion, but will probably just use it as a decoration most of the time.

Great for the price. But since this has a history of leaks. I sealed the outside of the fuel container with non-reactive multi-surface clear silicon sealant. Also the paint is not high temperature certified paint. The exhaust vents will blacken and the paint will burn.

Mejor de lo que esperaba. Por el precio pensé que no sería útil, que se vería bien en mi librero. Pero me sorprendió su construcción y acabados. Está mejor que las truper. Tengo dos mas una truper y una Dietz y no le pide nada a esta. Las uso en lugar de velas en casa cuando no hay electricidad y en campamentos. Esta pequeña la llené con citronella, la encendí y dejé más de una hora sin problema alguno en el patio y además de que huele bien, no hay mosquitos. quedé muy contento con este quinqué, hasta compré otro para regalarlo a mi mamá. Espero sirva esta opinión. Saludos,

Exactamento lo que estaba buscando.
me gusto la version pequeña, porque realmente es pequeñita, en efecto parece mas un artefacto de decoracion, pero en mi caso si es funcional SIEMPRE Y CUANDO se tomen algunas medidas que a contunuacion me gustaria compartir. La mecha que trae de fabrica es muy mala, nunca pude prender con ningun tipo de liquido (ya sea parafina liquida marca pretul que es un producto especializado o con citronela liquida) la tuve que cambiar por una que me costo en la ferreteria de la ezquina $5 EL METRO, que si no me equivoco tambien es marca pretul.. el otro dia vi en soriana mechas de ese tipo en soriana y aqui en amazon tambien hay ... en fin, el chiste es cambiarla de inmediato y tirar la que tiene de fabrica y efectivamente otro punto es que las uniones de la parte de abajo no estan bien echas y gotea. yo lo que hice fue aplicarle silicon de alta temperatura color rojo y listo. este producto me costo como $40 el tubo y literal utilice practicamente nada. con esto dejo de gotear. ahora bien, en mis salidas al monte llevo esta lampara y como dije lineas arriba la lleno de citronela liquida de la marca santul y con esto ahuyento a los mozquitos de una forma eficiente. mas que para iluminar, la utilizo para ese problema con los mozquitos.

NO FUNCIONA REALMENTE
The media could not be loaded. MUY DECEPCIONADA con el artículo. Usé un producto adecuado para lámparas de quinqué y similares (citronella líquida de la marca Santul). Tras poco más de media hora con FLAMA BAJA toda la pintura de la parte de arriba se quemó. Encima de todo, la base gotea (ver video) y estropeó mi mesa. El color es lindo pero de qué sirve si se va a descarapelar al primer uso. ACTUALIZACIÓN: Solicité la devolución por el mismo artículo con la idea de darle una segunda oportunidad. La pieza que llegó tenía los mismos problemas de funcionamiento: gotea, la flama se apaga constantemente, se quema con facilidad aun con la flama baja. Encima de todo, esta segunda pieza tenía defectuoso el mecanismo para subir y bajar el pabilo de modo que terminó desengancharse. El producto es bonito, pero en realidad NO ES UNA LÁMPARA FUNCIONAL, SÓLO ES UN ADORNO.

Good Quality and no Leak
I just want to tell whoever saying this will leak because you don't know how oil lamp works. You should just return it. It is not for you. You don't fill a lot of oil in it and use the right oil dont buy cheap oil and trying save money. If you being cheap don't use it. You need to always keep light stand straight. This is not LED and need to be handle with care. If you don't have those manner just go get LED light.

I was amazed at the quality for the price
I will try to make this short and helpful for you. I purchased 2 of these items, The fuel lid opener works fine, The glass is easy to clean or remove. Overall, I am very satisfied for what I have paid and what I have got. The only issue I had was the choice of colour and I resolved that by repainting it with a spray paint. I am happy with the product and I recommend this item. I hope you found this review helpful.
