Fading Lettering
The lettering associated with the various outlet conditions concerning grounding and polarity have faded away within a few months of continuous use. As a home inspector I need to record the conditions present for a particular tested outlet. I find myself using another outlet tester because of the uncertainty the indicators present as the words have worn away. I would like to purchase another on as a replacement however I know that it will be practically useless within a few months. I do like the ergonomics of the design.

Professional Home Inspector approved (with modifications)
I work as a home inspector and this is my go-to outlet tester because it is easy enough for my clients to read and shows up well in pictures because you don't have to decipher the 3 light codes of the more traditional testers. Green = good. The green light is easier for me read as well and only requires a quick look and then I can move on to the next outlet. It is very efficient with my time. While the non-contact voltage tester is extremely sensitive, it is very helpful in telling me if the wires I am looking at are live or not. It is a little too sensitive though, as it registers hot wires when it is between 1-2" away, so if there are two wires, I can only confirm that at least one of them is live. Not a problem, I keep a higher quality voltage tester in my truck and can go grab it when I need more accuracy. I only need to get my higher quality one about once every 6 months or so, so I'm not dinging this tester for being too sensitive, as it doesn't affect my job that much, but YMMV. I also love that it has a large, easy to grasp handle, and the length makes it easy to plug in and pull out. Overall, between the light and the ease of use, each outlet I test with this is 1-2 seconds faster than the little 3 light ones. This time saving adds up when I am evaluating 2-3 houses per day in the summer. When I first started buying these, I would get about 4-6 months out of it, using it every day for 50-150 outlets per day. What happens is that the ground pin gets loose and all of the outlets show up as ungrounded and you can no longer test GFCI-rated outlets/circuit breakers. Another problem is that I keep the tester in my tool pouch and constantly pulling it out and putting it back in begins to rub off the words. That isn't a problem for me, as I have the positions memorized, but it defeats the purpose of using this tester because clients can't read it and the pictures don't show the problem. You may be wondering why I still use this product and am giving it 4 stars if it only lasts 4-6 months. Well, after I bought my third one, I figured out some fixes and I have been using my current tester for over 16 months now. 1. There is just a little screw holding the ground pin into the tester. After repeated use, the screw will eventually strip out the plastic screw hole and the pin will become loose inside of the unit. Once this happens, the 26 gauge wire connecting the ground pin to the testers computer/processor pulls out and no more ground. This can be fixed after this happens if you have good soldering skills, and you can solder the wire back into place, then superglue the ground pin back into place. This is what I did on my most recent one, and it is still going strong. If/when this one finally breaks, my plan is to purchase a new one and then preemptively superglue the thing right away, which should keep the tester going strong. 2. To prevent the words from rubbing off, I treat the housing with a couple coats of clear coat. I tape up the speaker, the GFCI tester and the pins first. It actually looks nicer and shinier when you do this and I have had no issues with the words rubbing off. This might seem a bit drastic, but this is the perfect outlet testing tool for my business, and a little preventative maintenance has gone a long way.

Handy to verify AC power, incl ext. cords. Check outlet wiring faults and GFCI function. Handy!
Checked existing GFCI outlets and verified power through extension cords to a fence charger and several heated water bowls. Fast, easy test on the cords, and rain isn't a problem.

Get's the Job Done
I actually carry this on my home inspections as a back up receptacle tester, but the sniffer tip is something I rely on when I need it. Maybe not as solid as my primary tester, but for the price, it's a fine backup. It'll stay in my bag.

Top Quality
One of the easiest to use DualCheck 2-in-1 Non-Contact Voltage Detectors I have ever used!

I Always Love A Combo Tool...
And this one is no different. Having the receptacle tester and hot-wire tester in one is great. It works just as it should. The only con I can see is that it could be more compact. Maybe it has to be this size for electrical insulation purposes, but it just seems bigger than is needed. We'll see how I feel after I have it on the belt for a while.

Great product!
It is very easy to use. I like it, there is a battery in the package, that is needed for the voltage detector to work.

A good value for two in one AC tester
It works well and is easy to use.

Functional
This tool works as expected, and I haven't shocked myself yet while using it. I'm sure you would like something more robust if you were a professional electrician, but for a home owner this is absolutely sufficient!

Handy Tool (& remember to add the included button battery 1st)
I own several circuit testers along with multiple multi-meter units. I do like this one for a couple of reasons; 1) it isn't small (which is usually the biggest issue in locating the others. 2) it is easy to grip when testing a receptacle as some of the newer receptacles have built in "child proof" features to impede efforts poke something randomly into them. Multi-meter and short wire leads fail here as you really have to put pressure to work them into the slots. One thing I did initially miss at first was the battery (the L1154F "button" type battery is encased in the plastic packaging on the back. After checking on-line I first looked around the shop to find a compatible button battery (LR44). Installed and used to test the unit for non contact live wires. Another bonus was the button needs to be held down and which initially beeps once to indicate unit is ready for testing. I like this feature as you can then toss the unit into a tool bag without the worry of self draining the battery. This is a common problem with past non-contact pencil testers I own. Overall first impressions are that it is a good solid unit. I'll be wiring a new outdoor prefab tool shed with electricity shortly so I will update this review with other findings of note...

The GFCI test function burned. Can't be used in tough spots
The GFCI test function burned after less than a year. I replaced the battery, but still nothing. Can't be used in tough spots. Otherwise it was good for a while. EDIT: i opened and cleaned it. Now the GFCI test function works again.
