Don't buy
Does not work. i received this within a couple days of ordering and i was super excited. i work for a pool company in Florida and its a big company. i got my salt tester so i can stop using the cheap one my company gives us. well i got the salt tester and the next day brought it to work. it doesn't work period on 6 different pools it gave me same salt reading, same temp and when i tried resetting it and recalibrating it it continued to give me the same reading as before. tried reaching out to company and got a short response email. then tried contacting customer service for this company and they then told me to do everything i had already did. i will just stick with my $20 salt tester because it actually works and gives me readings on everything i need to keep my customers pools good to use. this salt test can continue to sit in my trunk collecting trash until they can make a better product. the people who say its a great tool and that it works obviously are weekend warriors when it comes to taking care of a pool and if i asked them questions on salt pools and chlorine pools (which are the same thing) they wouldn't have a clue.

This is a MUST HAVE for salt pool owners.
Works very well. Extremely easy to use. Readings are spot on with Pinch-A-Penny water analysis. Great vender with the best price. I WAS delighted with it ... at first. Today is May 31, 2017 and the unit is just over 3 months old and has quit working. LCD is too dim to even see now - even with new Duracell AA's installed. Before the LCD went out, the salt readings had started to vary by 200 - 400 ppm higher compared to the Pinch-A-Penny water anaysis. I was enamoured with the unit at first but not now. The good news: I asked Amazon if I could return the non-functioning unit and they referred me to the vender. The vender has agreed to refund me the purchase price without me even having to return the defective unit. Thank you SCP Distributors for backing up your sale. Very appreciated. I will most likely order another one from SCP and hope for a more reliable unit.

Works great
This works great, takes the guess work out of the picture. The strips give a good idea, but you have interpret the color to the scale. No guessing with this. I just look at the results (say 3100ppm), subtract from my desire level (i use 3500 ppm), divide by 120 ( amount to raise 1K gal - 120 ppm) and multiply by the size of my pool in 1000 gal (12). for this example i need to add 40 lbs of salt to bring it back to my selected level. [(3500-3100 = 400) /120] = 3.333 * 12 = 40

Off by too much to be helpful
The pool is connected to a Hayward/Accurite chlorine generator which has its own reading. I was concerned it was off but this device moves by 400-600ppm using the same water sample. Worse, even at its highest reading, it was too low and inaccurate.

Terrific and accurate.
I have a Pentair Intelli-system with InteliChlor, but needed an alternative to watch salt levels in the pool (my InteliChlor last year kept saying I didn't have enough salt as it was dying . . . so I ended up with too much salt!). This is awesome, easy to use and accurate - reads exactly what my Inteli-Chlor reads. Highly recommended.

Works perfectly and gives me an exact salt content for my pool.
We fired our pool service because they kept backflushing the pool into the yard killing the grass. Maybach flushed it so much that they dumped 70% of the salt out of my salt system in the pool. So I bought this meter add multiple samples of water taking to a local pool place that claims they can test Salt levels down to within 10 parts per million all the samples matched this meter Within 100 parts per million so I think it works outstandingly.

The product works great! My salt system doesn't calculate PPM and salt test strips are VERY inaccurate. This product is a MUST HAVE for anyone using Saltron Retro or similar devices. HOWEVER, the batteries supplied are generic and ended up leaking on the circuit board rendering this device useless. I purchased it from The Spa Depot and they were quick to send me a replacement! Awesome customer service! My suggestion would be to use non-generic/reliable batteries to avoid the problem I had.

For the price of one bottle of salt water testing ...
For the price of one bottle of salt water testing strips, I have a portable tester that accurately tells my what my salt level is and the temperature in our pool. I used to have to ration the strips because they were so expensive. Now, I can test the water whenever I want and it gives a much more accurate reading. It's already paid for itself.

4 years later still works perfectly
I purchased this unit 4 years ago and so far it has worked flawlessly every time I use it. So much easier than placing little strips in a glass of water and waiting 2 - 3 minutes. This unit accurately gives you the water temperature and salt reading in seconds. Its a little pricey but so are those strips … in the long scheme of things this has and will be an excellent purchase

Garbage
Edit July 25. Gave this unit a great review originally. Should have listened to others, after 2 months won't even power up. Tryed many types of fresh batteries, nothing, zero, nilch! So mad at myself I payed almost $200 CDN for a total piece of garbage, when I should have payed attention to others that said same thing. Stay away from this unit, stay far away! 0 stars if I could, been ripped off totally!
