it's okay.
Hmm. I think i'm keeping it, but i'm not as dazzled as i hoped i would be. The good: It is cute and a pretty color. It relatively works as advertised and is easy to clean. The bad: The motor runs louder than the water trickle when you're anywhere near it; and, at all far away, the trickle is too small to be heard. I knew it was small, but..the water makes almost no noise as it has nothing to hit along the way and the stream is so short. Thus the only sound you get is some of the bubbles that make their way up from the bottom. I really wanted to listed to water pouring, so was pretty disappointed with that. There also is a significant design flaw: There is a half inch hole at the back of the bowl to feed the cord (and plug through). As an approximate example, the bowl would hold 2" deep of water; but this hole in the back means any water over 1.25" spills out. Meanwhile, the pump itself needs at least 1" so with heat/evaporation, one may be left needing to fill the bowl daily lest the pump burn out. Making matters worse, any bird that makes waves, let alone sits in the bowl, sends yet more water out said hole. I ended up trying to run the cord over the top (hidden under the fish face) instead of through the hole so I could attempt to plug it and thus fill the bowl properly. This helps, but it's a horrible design flaw that a customer shouldn't have to try to fix. Other: The little motor case snaps open for cleaning. Great. But it also snapped open every single time i tried to attach it to the base of the bowl with the suction cups as the instructions say to.. The design leaves something to be desired as it seems pretty clear it's a few pieces that are used for multiple different fountains/other and thus fit 'close enough' but clearly weren't made for this one and only unit. The solar fountain is pretty literal..the slightest tilt away of the sun and the fountain stops. It can be a clear sky, full sun day, but unless the sun is glaring directly on the panel, it is just a bowl of water. I originally saw this priced higher at Duncraft (for birds) and thus bought it without much of a thought. After seeing it in the box though, I must wonder if there's lead in the glaze and/or what's in the unglazed clay that the water runs through in the fish face? My goal was to have water sound to lure the birds to the many other water stops here, so this isn't their only source to drink and bathe in, but as i'm sure some will, i'm a bit wary of what all they'll be ingesting. That said, it's so quiet (as above), i doubt it's luring anyone! I think I'll keep it and try to find a way to alter it to make more sound. But for $80, as it doesn't even have a battery to store some of the solar for a single cloud, I thought for the price, that lack would be made up for in the rest of it; it's not what I hoped/planned on. Worth $50? Meh, okay. Fix the poorly placed hole and yeah, worth $50. $80+ no.

Love it!!
I seen this online a couple of years ago and it was always 'sold out' because it was late in season for gardening stuff. Finally found one early this year and can't wait till it's warm enough to put in my Asian garden area.

Looks nice, but has design flaws
I like the glaze, and I like the koi. The packaging for shipment was designed well, so you don’t end up with a huge amount of styrofoam. They used mostly cardboard. I like the trickling sound the fountain makes...when it is running. But it is not perfect. The negative points are these: 1. The bowl is too shallow, and the overflow/wire access hole too low. I have to top off the water a couple times a day, due to splash and evaporation. I may stop up the hole with a blob of silicone so I can add more water. But really they should have made the bowl deeper. 2. The pump should sit in the bottom of the bowl (and be held there by suction cups), but the tube connection is such that the pump sits too high. If the water level drops, the pump can easily burn out. 3. The cord between the solar panel and the fountain is way too short. No reason t make it that short. 4. The solar panel is quite sensitive, so that even a passing wisp of cloud stops the fountain. I think this could be improved with a higher grade pump and some tweaking. Sat this price, though, a buyer should not have to tweak the product. It’s annoying. ADDENDUM: I figured out why it was losing water so quickly. It’s the way the koi spout sits in its holder. Whenever the pump slowed down (because the panel was getting less sun), dribbling water was running back along the bottom of the koi, and running off of the back end, and was thereby spilling out of the bowl. I took a bit of aluminum foil and made a small shim, which I used to make the koi tilt slightly downward (I jammed the crunched-up foil under the back of the koi). That makes it impossible for the dribbling water to creep backward and out of the bowl. I am going to use some aquarium tubing to connect the koi and the pump, so that the pump can sit in the deep part of the bowl. It can be covered with decorative rocks. But again...I should not have to do all of these tweaks.

Nice Garden Addition
I ordered this fountain to use as a birdbath and fresh water source for my backyard critters. The first one I received was poorly finished and the fish didn't fit as tightly. I contacted them for a replacement, which came by the next day! The exchange was easy! All I had to do was repackage the old one and leave it for UPS to pick it up at no charge. Both fountains were packaged securely and there were no broken or missing parts. Quality of second fountain was better and the blue is as represented in the picture. It is a gorgeous shade of cobalt blue! It was easy to put together and the directions were clear. The pump and solar pad are working well. Probably would be enjoyed best by those who live in sunny and not frequently overcast areas because it needs direct sun. A fantastic upgrade would be to add a battery that could store the solar energy for use when it gets dark or cloudy. Since it is not a large or deep fountain, I do have to check that it is filled, but that keeps the water fresh for the animals too. It makes a pleasing, soft sound. It's best to rinse it out with the hose as you can get under the lip of the scalloped edge. I wipe any remaining debris up with a paper towel and refil with fresh water. It is not too heavy to pick up and turn upside down...just remember to disconnect the pump first. I am enjoying my new fountain. I have seen a bird drink from it (there is a nice edge for them to perch on), but haven't witnessed any bathing yet. I hope it lasts for many years! Customer service was outstanding as well.

and it was so small (looks like they were poking the clay to prevent bubbles
Eventually, I will use this again. But two things have to happen: 1) Mine arrived with a small hole in the bowl. I didn't realize this, and it was so small (looks like they were poking the clay to prevent bubbles?) that it didn't leak when I filled it. When I woke up in the morning, I did realize it, because my carpet was soaked underneath it. Duct tape took care of that nuisance. And I liked the d*mn blue fish too much to return it. 2) I find a pump that I can plug in. I live in one of the sunniest places; sun almost everyday. That pump worked twice. And I am NOT going to auto-rotate a submersible pump. Not when I can just spend an extra $10 (end of season) to get a plug in pump. Other than that, when the pump worked and the leak was plugged, it was a nice little fountain.

Wonderful but needs solar storage
This is a very attractive bird bath that runs very well when the sun is out to power the solar panel. Perfect amount of water ripple to attract birds but does not splash all over the deplete the water like a lot of solar fountains. Unfortunately it has no capacity to store any solar power so no sun means no fountain. If that feature was added this would be a really outstanding bird bath.

READ BEFORE BUYING
The pump, once connected to the spitting fish, does not sit low enough in the water due to the slope of the basin. If you try to put enough water in the basin to cover the pump, is just spills out the hole used to run the wire to the solar pump. As well, the solar panel only comes with a ground spike - it does not come with ability to mount to a deck.
