Warm floors but does not heat the room
I like this product. I've had just over 1 sq-m installed under a floating cork floor in a small basement bathroom for two years now. The panels cover about 1/3 of the floor, the rest is sink and toilet. The printed panels provide a much more even heat than the wired ones. However, they don't provide *significant* heat. The spec is 12W per sq-ft. So for my roughly 11 sq=ft I can expect about 130W max. That's two incandescent light bulbs worth of heat. Imagine how warm your bathroom will feel if you leave two light bulbs on overnight - not very... The issue is that older floating floors could not take the heat. Now they can. Ideally QuietWarmth will come out with a panel that puts out closer to 25W/sq-ft. Still, our floor is much warmer than it used to be. I used insulating underlayment across the entire floor. With the panels on 24-7 the floor hits 20C. (To those of you in the third world that's about 68 Freedom Degrees). It's nice on bare feet when you step out of the shower. Last thing, I was foolish enough to buy an expensive temperature sensing controller. Don't do it. A simple light switch is all you need. I keep the floor on during the winter and off during the summer.

Not too difficult
Installed 4 pads under 1/2" engineered hardwood floating flooring. Routing the wires inside grooves cut in underlayment took the longest (an hour for me). I installed a metal wire-protecting cover where the wiring entered the wall at the sole plate (see pic). I ran the sensor wire out of the same hole in the sole plate, and have had no issues in the 2 months since installation. Recommend you cover the pads with cardboard while working on the remaining flooring, and check the impedance frequently during installation. I did it 4 times. UPDATE: 1 year since install. Works perfectly. Added 4 similar pads to attic bedroom (under the same engineered flooring). Cut wider grooves in the pad to lay 6 wires side-by-side, then covered them completely with duct tape to prevent shifting. Electrical inspector required me to use 2 separate conduits from thermostat box to the base plate of the wall. I installed 2 sensors. VERY pleased with the results in both rooms! I did some testing over a few days and found that these pads don't warm the air temperature more than 2-3 degrees, but they are a game-changer to making our rooms more comfortable in the tough Winters in Minnesota. Will be helping my neighbor install 8 240v pads in his basement next weekend.

Yes, YOU can do it!
Great product. Installation is very easy - so long as you PLAN your layout beforehand (including wire runs)! Always consider placement of the mats and try to avoid installing the mats where furniture, area rugs, registers, etc. are placed in the room. Mats can easily be cut to fit as well. Mats are placed ON TOP of the underlayment and directly under the flooring (we installed 12 mil laminate flooring). No mortar required, but I do recommend using a good quality tape to secure the mats, wiring, and underlayment (we used Gorilla tape). Some chiseling into the subfloor may also be needed to ensure the wires don’t interfere with the placement of your flooring (we only needed to do this in one area where several wires came together). Also ensure you consider the cumulative amp draw from your layout. We ended up adding a dedicated 15 Amp circuit for each room. Note, the 240v product will give you more amp flexibility vs. the 120v product, although it didn’t matter for our situation and we installed the 120v system. Also, QuietWarmth has a very informative website, as well as a super helpful technical support team to assist with any questions. Again, planning your layout is the key to success!

Awesome Mat! Super easy install!
Love this thing. Installed it myself as a total beginner DIYer and it turned out amazing. Instructions were easy to follow and so simple to wire up. Heats up fast too! Can't wait to use it this winter!

Works well under laminate flooring
I installed these under laminate flooring in my home office. They were easy to install, the plug had some difficulties. Would recommend. EDIT: It has been over a year since purchase / install. They still work fantastic in the office.

The size is perfect for a smaller area floor heat.
I like the efficiency of this, I use it as a portable floor heater. It’s great for warming shoes, and for my dogs bed. I like this brand of heat strip. It’s warm from edge to edge, end to end. No cold spots. It’s between a piece of OSB with laminate on top. I like that it does not heat hot the temperature is warm to bare feet I like that. I’m planning on purchasing a longer length for use on my camper floor, with new laminate on top. I highly recommend.

Great heat source for shed office
I used 3 of these to heat a new office shed. They were easy to install and heat the space nicely. The shed was spray foamed for insulation, 90% of the time these heaters are sufficient to keep the shed warm. Today it is -5 in the upper Midwest, when I got into the shed office this morning the thermostat read 59 (it was set to 68) so while it was not quite able to be my sole heat source I would say performance was admirable. It is very nice to have a heated floor!
