I used these with a salt dough ornament recipe. I cannot comment on culinary use. Trial & error resulted in my finding two decent methods of success: 1) rolling dough out on greased cookie sheets, stamping letters into the dough, removing most of the negative space, baking and finalizing the removal of negative space when the dough was cool enough to handle 2) rolling dough out on cookie sheets, stamping letters, baking, cooling enough to handle then breaking apart the letters and removing the negative space. The 2nd method creates more waste but in my case I was using years-old flour not good for much else anyway. With the first method the negative space dough can be used in the next roll-out. Some letters are easier to handle than others. T's are tough to form as the shape is delicate to handle. In the case of letters with enclosed negative space such as A's, B's, O's, etc. I did not always remove the hole completely but dug it out some, leaving a thin layer in the background. For my purposes this will work since these will be mounted to wood and painted. I ran these through the dishwasher in the utensil basket last night and upon unloading this morning noticed some rusting since they sat in dampness for 8 hours. I'd advise getting these dry asap after washing. For my arts & crafts purposes this cutter set does the job. I have a bunch of letters bagged up, ready for projects.

Large size and clear cutting!
So much better than the budget plastic ones that I bought! The edges produced by these cutters are very clear. I use them for cutting letters out of rolled-out fondant. My tip is to roll out the fondant and then let it sit for about 15 minutes, and then cut out the letters and let those sit for another 15 minutes. This way, the letters are a little more firm and transfer without as much distortion. I also "dip" these in corn starch to prevent any sticking if I happen to be using a brand of fondant that is sticky.

Love the font and size, don't love the rust.
I bought the alphabet cutters to replace my Wilton alphabet cutters, which are awful. These are great where Wilton is lacking, particularly that they are a touch bigger, therefore the letters are thicker, so I don't tear them up trying to get them out of the cutter. I really like the font too. After using them the first time I was in love. But then I washed them. One run in the dishwasher and the joints are covered in rust! It's very, very frustrating. I hand washed them to get rid of the rust as much as possible, but I find it pretty unacceptable for a food grade product to rust so terribly after one washing. I'll still use them because I really like them, but that was a huge disappointment.

Perfect Size
I have been looking for a basic set of letter punchs for fondant and these are the best ones I have seen so far. For the most part the fondant is easy to remove, some require a little shaking, but as long as you use enough corn starch they come free. The only thing I would change is a couple of letters seem larger then the others so you have to trim them down to look like they are the same size.

Weird #4, but otherwise good.
The 2 and 5 look like upside down versions of each other, the same cutter is used for 9 and 6, the 4 doesn't look as pictured - it looks like a little lightning bolt. Nonetheless, they worked great, were a good size. Reasonably distinctive and easy to use/clean. Just be sure to have a small tool like a chopstick handy for the numbers with holes in the middle (6/9, 8, 0).

They are okay. I would give it 3.5 stars. Some of the letters don't really look like the actual letter. For example, the letter "G" does not look great. The letter "R" comes out looking like the letter "A." I wanted to get a stainless steel set so this was one of the few that was available.

Love it
Got this to cut out fondant. Love it! It's difficult to get the fondant out if it sticks, but just dip the cookie cutters in flour or powdered sugar and it shouldn't be a problem. They're the perfect size to decorate cakes and cupcakes with fondant. Not sure about the cookies as they might be very small.

Not too shabby
I was hesitant to spend the money ($40) on these - it seems a bit high - but they are good quality. I looked around and these are the best value I found. I needed well built, solid cookie cutters that will last a long time and these appear to fit the bill. They're large. I use them as stencils for sign making.

frustrating
These letters are good quality but very frustrating trying to get them back in the tin, you have to put them back in the tin as you use each letter which is a pain.

i would not recommend this item,the number 4 is dreadful,and would not use it on a cake.i ended up doing a stencil myself to put on my cake
