I am confused by some of the other reviews. I took a chance, having other Old Dutch items that have never disappointed, and am VERY pleased. My husband wanted regular shakers that we could leave on the table for everyday, as he was always forgetting salt & pepper when setting the table, & had to get up again to get them. He also wanted ones with generous holes, as some of the shakers we have had require much shaking to get the amount of seasoning he likes. My seller was MMP Living, this may make a difference. They arrived as expected with Prime. These are exactly what we wanted & expected based on the description. I received the Old Dutch #937 salt, pepper shakers & matching toothpick holder. These are standard everyday table-size shakers, 4,25" tall, 2,25" across the flanged base and 1.25" diameter at the top. The generous holes at the top clearly designate S & P. These are not the enormous decorative salt & pepper mills sold elsewhere at much higher cost, & which I already have for decorative purposes, these are practical family-size, everyday, table shakers. The one's I received are also not the diminutive individual shakers sometimes used on airline & hotel room service trays, which it sounds like others may have received. I would contact the seller to be sure you are getting the size you want before ordering, all sellers are not alike, & some sellers have been know to link to the wrong product already posted, rather than create their own posting of the correct product. I like the flange at the bottom, it makes them very stable, even though they are quite proportionally tall (4x1), & serves as it's own funnel for filling, something I hadn't thought about, but love. They are simple, plain shakers that fit well in my country copper kitchen, & look perfect with my copper water pitcher & tray that stays on the kitchen table. From the picture, I wondered if the flange might be brass, that would have been even cooler for me (copper/brass kitchen) but all copper works beautifully. They are coated on the outside, which keeps them from tarnishing & I left the coating on, knowing from experience how corrosive salt can be, and while many of my pieces have the coating removed, I do keep things polished, rather than the more rustic brown or verdigris finishes, as I like them for the bright flash they provide in an otherwise somewhat dark kitchen (mahogany/dark cherry/rosewood wood cabinets, black & charcoal appliances). Mine had instructions on how to preserve the coating, and how to remove it if you wished, but did not have any instruction about removing it if you plan to actually use them , & as the coating is only on the outside, it is not in contact with food - as some of my other pieces (pitcher for example) so I expect that they will not need much polishing, we shall see. The lining had no coating, and would have been very difficult to remove if it had, it is a silver colored lining - not tin, but the description says nickel, so yeah. And that would be food safe. Be aware the holes are VERY generous, so you will need to cover them completely when filling, or have a real mess, also, shake cautiously until you figure out how much they put out, as they are very liberal with the spice, so my husband is very happy! Hope this review helps some of you who are on the fence about these due to other reviews. As I said, I see many reviews that say "2" high, and mine were 4" so verify with the seller which set you will be getiing, and good luck with a happy transaction.
