I bought these to use at my stove, where I'm doing the cooking. The salt shakes out fine, but the pepper shakes out a much smaller volume. I finally realized that the reason for this is that the pepper shaker really needs larger holes because a pepper flake is larger than a grain of salt. In most shaker sets the pepper shaker tries to solve this problem by adding more (of the same size) holes, but this doesn't solve the problem. Am I a genius or what? Has no one ever noticed this before?

YES YES! YES!
These are the perfect salt and pepper shakers in size and design to sit by the kitchen stove when cooking OR they sit quite nicely at the supper table.

Good buy for unsophisticated casual table use.
Great little set. Only complaint is that cap threads are so sloppy that they gather salt or pepper and drop it when the cap is loosened (for those with a whit of intelligence, that only happens once... ;-) ) CAUTION: salt chaker is VERY enthusiastic, requiring considerable control in use. I also discovered that the "one size fits all" hole diameter is nicely suited to McCormick ground pepper. Overall, am happy to have the product and use it daily.

Not for leafy or granular seasonings.
I wanted a glass shaker for our salt substitute. However, the holes are for regular salt and pepper only.

Perfect!
My husband has been looking for good salt & pepper shakers where the salt & pepper doesn't get stuck in too-small holes. These are PERFECT! They appear to be two salt shakers, because the tops are identical, but we're very happy with them.
