Works but accentuates all scratches/dents in garage floor

This seems to work well as far as protecting the floor, but it really accentuates all the cracks and dents. I am covering my cement garage floor that I just repainted (it had been painted by a previous owner, and looked really worn). I can definitely notice the difference in terms of the protective layer. The paint I had chosen was scratching very easily and even leaving marks when you walked over it, and with this topcoat it no longer does that. However, the gloss really emphasizes all the cracks and dents and imperfections in the floor.I painted it a matte black which was hiding all the flaws well, but the gloss brought them all back out! So I don’t recommend using this on a garage floor, or any floor that has considerable blemishes/dents you don’t want brought to light.

Easy to use. Beware Bubbles. Curing does Off-Gas.

I will continue to use this product to create homemade, prefinished plywood for cabinets. I have not used it on floors. I used this product to finish the inside of a vanity cabinet that needs to be waterproof and durable. It was easy to apply. However, it did form bubbles during applications, and I had to smooth it with a foam brush.

Works Great

I have used products like this before and they didn't work well so I was really skeptical of this one. BUT! I painted my bathroom floor with chalk paint and coated it with this stuff and it worked GREAT. Nothing sticks to it and it's super easy to clean. I made sure to not place anything on it for a few days like it said in the instructions- I feel like this part is super important. It definitely needs a vented area because the smell can still get pretty strong even though it's low odor.

Easy to apply

I am relatively new to wood floors, so cannot compare this to other choices. However, I was happy enough with the first gallon that I purchased two more. It came out well, was easier to apply, and much less odorous than an oil-based varnish that I had used before. I tried a lambs wool applicator but found that it would catch on small edges of my floor and leave fibers. I had better success with an synthetic applicator pad designed for staining decks. The odor is a little strong when applying. I wore a respirator to be safe. But it fades quickly and is completely gone in about 48 hours.

Off-gasses, bubbles form minutes after application

Let me start off by saying this is not the first floor ive done. In all my years Ive never had a product bubble worse than this one when flooring. 3 thin coats with light sanding and vacuuming in between. When I left the room everything was glossy and beautiful, just to return about 30 minutes later and see bubbles forming. This is due to the product off-gassing, and due to this the floor has an awful bumpy texture and looks ugly. I cant walk across the wet floor to brush the new bubbles out, so theres no way to get rid of them without completely sanding and redoing the floor. Customer is not pleased, will not use this product again. Also takes multiple orders to receive the product because they pack it loosely and the lid falls off during shipment. Price has increased $15 in only a month and hasnt gone back down.

Product great. Shipping not so much.

Product is awesome. Used it as a protection on my countertops in my kitchen. But the arrival of the product not so good. Box was covered in it from where it had leaked all over the place and there was only a very small amount in the pale. Post office made me come pick it up because they would not deliver it because of it leaking everywhere.

Great product...terrible shipping.

This Varathane is fantastic! I just needed more of it. The shipping was terrible. If possible, I recommend purchasing from Home Depot because their packaging is more secure. This one came in and was leaking in the box.

Not really "no odor", but much less odor than other water-based finishes.

Note that there is another version of Varathane water-based finisher sold in Home Depot that is not this "no odor" version (though it is the same brand). There is an odor to this, but it is significantly less than other water-based polyurethane or polycrylic finishes. I used this and a Polycrylic finish on wooden shelves in a 10x20 self-storage unit with some fans but no outside airflow. Odor wasn't strong enough to prevent the work, and cleared after the finish cured (24 hrs). I'd recommend this "no odor" version over others if working indoors.
