Look for sale.
If you can get this for the right price (under $20 ) it is well worth it.

For better or worse, committed to the ecosystem :)
Rubbermaid seems to be the Apple of garage storage -- stylish and pricy. I committed to Fasttrack ecosystem for a garage refinishing project, and I like it a lot. It is the classic "give away the razor and sell the blades" pricing model... the rails are quite reasonable but the accessories range from expensive to exorbitant. This particular kit was one of the last items I purchased. It includes 3 smaller, lighter weight hooks, one heavier weight multipurpose hook, a 32" rail and a mounting kit. In retrospect, I should have started with a kit... the kits seem to be the only items that ship with instructions. I bought this kit mainly for the smaller, lighter weight hooks. The are extremely useful in some cases, and the pre-packaged hits are currently the ONLY way to get them. They do not even appear on the Rubbermaid web site. I can't even guess what they are thinking, unless they are trying to keep the price of the kit down, but would prefer to sell heavier-weight $10-$20 hooks to folks who would really prefer to buy the lighter ones for $5. Unfortunately this kind of predatory pricing seems to be typical of an otherwise excellent product line. The rail consists of a metal backing that mounts to the wall, and a black vinyl front surface that snaps or slides onto the backing and actually supports the hooks and other accessories. I used the 32" rail to fill a 30" gap between my garage doors. I trimmed the rail itself to fit with a reciprocating saw and metal cutting blade. A hacksaw would also have worked fine, but I am running a continuous strip around all 4 walls of my largish two-car garage, and so am doing a lot of trimming. The hacksaw does does do a fine job on the vinyl, though. Rubbermaid's videos show the vinyl simply snapping over the mounted rail. That is a little optimistic. If one end is open, it will be much easier to slide the vinyl over the backing, rather than snapping it on. In my case, both ends were flush against the garage door frames and I was forced to snap it on. It is possible to do this with some potentially heavy open-hand blows, but I was doing a total of about 90 feet and that was going to be no fun even for a trained martial artist; I resorted to a heavy rubber mallet. The kit includes Genuine Rubbermaid (i.e., expensive) mounting hardware consisting of a handful of screws and a smaller handful of butterfly-type drywall anchors. This is my first experience with the Rubbermaid hardware - it is not included with the standalone railing - and it works fine; 2-1/2" #8 wood screws and any kind of substantial drywall anchor (for use only where there may not be a stud available) work fine as well, and for about 5% of Rubbermaid's price. I do not have any experience with the compatible shelves yet. The shelves themselves are currently in short supply and seem to be priced accordingly -- $10-$12 for a single 48" shelf where they are not in stock, $28-$30 where they are! The other accessories seem to be quite useful and intelligently designed. Do not underestimate the usefulness of the long-handled-tool s-hooks. They are the best (and often the only way) to hang many items other than long-handled tools.

Almost dummy proof; very good product
1. I have a reasonable IQ, but when it comes to home repair / projects type of stuff, I admit it, I have some limitations. But like most people, I could always use some reorganization in the garage and thus after trying this and that over the years, I came across this product in the store and then purchased it via amazon (by the way, as some folks have mentioned, you can actually get better prices on some of the items at your local store and thus it pays to shop around). 2. My bottomline impressions: * In terms of it being almost dummy proof, no matter what the marketing people state, the achilles heel of any storage system where you need to mount something on the wall is finding the elusive stud. I won't go off on a tangent re: how lame stud finders are, but suffice to say, I've owned at least 3-4 of them and they are all hit / miss in actually finding the stud. More frustrating is the fact that although home builders supposedly follow some convention in terms of how frequently apart they space the studs, every home I've lived in doesn't follow that rule. Thus, when the Rubbermaid folks state that the ends of the rail must be attached to a stud, well... that may or may not happen depending on your wall. * The pragmatic bottomline is that despite the above, you're going to have at least one or likely two studs to utilize and then you can then use a decent drywall screw in the other holes. Note: the drywall screws that come with this product are so huge that it'll create a massive hole in your wall (I just advise getting a metal drywall screw; ie the one without the plastic sheath). * Other tips: get a bubble level (cheap) and having a powerdrill is handy (it's good to have one anyway). * Once you get the rail up, it is really solid, sturdy and equally important (unlike other systems) very very versatile; you can add or take up various attachments so as to hang up other stuff as per your needs over the years. Furthermore, Rubbermaid makes various rail lengths. 3. All in all, a very excellent, simple and flexible organizational tool for the garage... that is fairly easy to set up. Highly recommended.

Non-standard hole spacing
A 32 inch or 48 inch rail should be designed for standard framing member spacing of 16 inches on center. In other words, the overall length of the rail should be longer than 32 or 48 inches, respectively, to accommodate standard framing. I have read other reviews customer complaining about this issue and the manufacturer's typical response is franking a lame excuse for poor engineering. It is important to remember that the installer is trying to hit the narrow side of a 2 x 4 framing member that is actually only 1.5 inches thick. Rubbermaid expects the installer to slide the rail over roughly 0.5 inches from center, at each end, which leaves 0.75 - 0.5 = 0.25 inches of framing material. I suppose Rubbermaid designers believe that houses are framed precisely and an electronic stud finder will precisely locate each edge of a 2 x 4 framing member. With that said, I really like the Rubbermaid FASTTRACK concept; however, it is unfortunate the associated hole spacing is non-standard. This problem could be easily addressed with a simple design and manufacturing change. Apparently Rubbermaid does not listen to customer feedback because this product has been manufactured with non-standard hole spacing for many years.

Great Product
I ordered two of this product. Just received the first one. Don’t know why they weren’t shipped together. Went on YouTube to learn how to install. Installation was a breeze. My only concern is that the strip is a bit small in length. Just ordered two more . Even though I ordered two strips twice, the individual items arrived separately. This is very frustrating. The product itself is great but I am just tired of waiting for the delivery.

The hooks are easy to attach to the rack
This system worked really well in my shed. I bought this with the bike attachment. The hooks are easy to attach to the rack. It was easy to install. It is sturdy enough to hold the bike. I would recommend it.

Great versatility
Lots of hook options (I purchased extra) can fit 3 shovels on one hook. Installing is easy with a stud finder. Depending on how far apart your studs are you may not be able to attach into 3 studs as directed for maximum weight.
