My grandson likes to use his imagination to make his own design

Wish the pieces fit more securely
Overall, I love the idea of this product. However, the pieces do not fit very securely. The connections wobble and don't hold strong when you actually go to use the creation you've built. A slight improvement in the design could make this much more child friendly and effective

Can only build 1 design at a time
This "Motioneering" set is an interesting introduction to physics. The challenges include building a catapult, a pendulum, a windmill, a crank, a propeller, a tilt-a-whirl, and a goal. You can only build 1 design at a time, mainly due to the one rotation post included in the whole set. This piece is central to all the builds. The pieces are a sturdy plastic, and they connect well. The challenges show how to assemble the piece, highlights some key words, explains the idea behind the motion, and then asks the child to think about adjusting different aspects of the piece they built. "What happens if..." This is great for critical thinking, and it provides a hands-on, trial-&-error way of testing out their ideas. At the bottom of each challenge is an "Enhance" question. These involve using the remaining pieces to enhance or change the original build. I do wish the challenges were printed on individual, laminated cards. They are just plain paper, some printed back-to-back, and perforated for the child to separate them. Overall, this is a good introductory set.

Easy to Assemble - Mom of 4 and 7 year old
My kiddos love to build things. They enjoyed k'nex, legos, marble runs, building blocks, etc. So when I saw this...AND it has a learning component, I thought it would be perfect for them. I'm happy to say that I was right. Ease of Use: First, there are only about 7 different components. So they aren't looking too hard for their needed pieces. The first catapult was made just a few minutes after opening the box. Instructions: I was worried because there aren't detailed instructions - just a picture with some directions, a few thinking questions, and a description. However, I found that this is the perfect amount of information. They didn't dwell on the instructions, so they just sat down and started replicating the pictures. Pieces: Pieces easily fit into a 1gallon zip lock and can be put away without taking too much space. However, there is only one rotation post which is a thin and essential piece. I worry that this will break in no time. I wished they included two (just in case). Imagination: Even after replicating a few of the designs, I had to work a little. I came back to find the kiddos still playing with it and at this point, creating their own designs.

Fun toy
Fun toy to explain scientific principles especially physics but really could be made to be a bit more sturdy.

Perfect for my homeschoolers
I ordered a few stem toys to be played with during free time as help another child one on one. This absolutely my perfect and my favorite. I immediately took the instructions and cut them apart to laminate. I attached the instructions back together with a mini zip tie. The plastic pieces should last for years as they aren’t too thin or flimsy. Highly pleased with the quality, price point, and multiple build options.

Okay STEM toy
This is an okay STEM toy, not great. Our 7yo didn't find it all that fun beyond building the catapult one time. It just didn't have much replayability. It didn't feel like a great learning experience for this age.

:)
It is temporary entertainment, value for your money definitely depends on the child's independence and imagination. There’s no bright colors or loud sounds that will drown your child in sensory stimulation so children with short attention spans might not full appreciate a toy like this.

Very fragile
The media could not be loaded. This is a great toy and I would choose it again but there is one thing I really dislike about it. It is too wobbly, fragile and breaks apart way too easily. It must as well be intentional but it does feel like it is missing some of the play value qualities. It is a great set - it gives your child an opportunity to build constructions that they wouldn't encounter in other playsets at this age (I'd say 5 to 8) and they do learn about motion the way machinery behind motion works. I really like this 'discovery' element. This set requires and trains patuence (minimally) and teaches your chikd fragile objects handling in the way that leaves no one injured and no object broken. It is a great toy but it is not sturdy.

Fun and educational toy.
This is a great learning toy. It is fun to play with and it make children think and engage with their logic and critical-thinking skills. In essence, it is a building toy but what you build has a bit of thought behind it. Your children are following instructions putting things together that eventually al work smoothly and move. You can build a trebuchet and a catapult amongst others. The great thing is that the ‘instructions’ are not step by step. You see the picture, it tells you what pieces you’ll need and then it gives you general instructions on what to do. This makes the child know what they’re aiming for and they have to think and figure out how to put it together. It is not too hard but will keep them entertained for a while. It is quite rewarding once the structure is built and fully working! A lot of fun whilst learning at a very fair price, would recommend.

Great Little Construction Set
Learning Resources knows how to make learning fun and this Motioneering set has so many ways to engage your little one while developing skills without them even realising it! This would make a great gift for any little one who loves to build and is bright and colourful enough to be engaging and fun. You get 56 pieces grouped into bags that aren't re-sealable. Every piece is well made and are brightly coloured in orange, yellow, blue, green and grey. They fit well together and have no sharp edges to the, They create 8 machines - Catapult Pendulum Windmill Crank Propeller Triple Windmill Tilt a Whirl Goal All of which are described in the guidebook that comes with it. I love that it challenges little ones to use their problems solving skills and develop coordination and use imaginative play too. It is certainly something that will be parent led in our house at the moment but I can see older little ones enjoying this too. Great construction set with learning and fun in mind.

Another great stem activity
Another great stem activity by Learning Resources. You get eight challenges which is a great start. With fifty six pieces there are plenty of machines you can build. Build the machines and make them move.. good fun.
