Fun game.
I got this game to play with my reading group. I have a class about five or six kids. They think it's a reward to play this game haha

Versatile and easy to adapt: good for kids and elderly
As an experienced babysitter, nanny, tutor, substitute teacher and aunt, I am always looking for fun games and activities to sharpen mental skills. I have been using this game with an elderly person with dementia, and it has helped him focus, exercised his language muscles (including spelling as well as word recognition and retrieval abilities), gotten him thinking about options, given him a way to interact with other people, and kept his mind off negative thoughts. The instructions provide a couple of versions for regular competitive play which are fun for kids of similar skill levels, the idea always being to form more words than your opponents do by placing single letter cards in front of word ending cards. It was easy to adapt play for his needs and abilities. Speed, multiple piles to choose from, and simultaneous play of multiple people, while exciting for kids, would be utterly confusing for him, but these simpler variations work just fine. For solo play he has one draw pile and keeps up to 3 cards in his hand. If he has to discard, I just tuck the discards into the bottom of the draw pile to avoid confusion. I collect the words he forms and set them aside and then turn over a new word ending card for him while he draws a replacement card for his hand. When he sees the words spread out on the table, he feels good about how well he's doing. I just sort the used cards periodically and shuffle them, adding them to the draw piles if I want to extend the playing time. In order for him to play with the grandchildren, we just have one ending card in middle of play area, one draw pile and one discard pile, and they take turns. If someone can make a word, they collect the word and turn over a new word ending card and play passes to next player. If they can't make a word, they discard and draw a new card and their turn is over. I think these adaptations would work well with special needs students, too, and I think it would be easy for other people to come up with their own variations. In all versions, you have to decide whether any of the letters you have can spell a legitimate word with the available ending card (or cards), and if you have several possibilities, you get to practice choosing among options. Reinforces phonics, reading and spelling skills.

Good Game - Horrible Rules
The concept of this game is a wonderful idea - the rules are really stupid. I bought this for my 9 year old with dyslexia and learning disabilities and my gifted/advanced 5 year old. The game comes with several orange cards each with one consonant on them and a few purple cards with word endings such as "-at" "-it" -"ain" and "-ail." The game is a speed game (NOT a good idea for kids learning to read or kids who take some extra processing time) and the rules tell you to yell out either "snap" or "it" or "up" after you make each word which my kids don't want to and can't remember. We decided to play the game by dealing each of us 7 or so orange cards (consonants) and the purple deck (the endings of words) being the draw pile. On each person's turn, you turn over a purple card and see if you can make a word. If you can make a word, you discard your orange consonants that you used and if you can't make a word with the purple card you drew then it is the next person's turn. The first person to run out of orange cards in their hand wins!! These rules we made up worked much better for us and saved us all the tears and frustration that a speed game would have caused.

Fun game for learning
It is a fun game for kids and adults. Even for kids who are learning letters you can use the cards.

Fun and educational!
Great game for young kids to work on phonics skills. My kindergartner is struggling to learn virtually so this is a fun family game to help her sound out word endings and put a letter in the front to make a word. My second grader reads at a fifth grade level but he still enjoys this game because he can think outside the box and make longer words.... for example the little one might add s to ash, while he would add c and l to ash. Fun and educational!

She's no longer struggling with rhyming words
This was a gift for my baby sister as she's learning this in school right now, but having a hard time. Gamifying the process has made it exciting for her, you can tell it has "clicked" in her mind. The only issue is that we no longer have the box as she couldn't figure out how to open it and didn't ask for help.

Flimsy Cards
Great game concept for helping to work on sight words in a fun manner but sadly the cards are very thin. We played twice and they have already started to bend and tear.

Great game, too few purple "ending" cards
This game has been perfect for practicing phoneme recognition and making words. My 8y.o. really enjoys it. Only downside is that there are too few of the purple "ending" cards compared to the starting consonants. We just play taking turns rather than aiming for speed and I wish there were more options for the endings. The balance of the deck feels off.

The cards should be laminated. Overpriced.
It's an okay game. The cards are not laminated. We think it's overpriced. But it's a good learning game simple enough for early readers.
